How to be a druid!Follow

#1 Dec 20 2004 at 8:19 PM Rating: Decent
First and formost: Terms used in the guide.

Agroes like a buff- Buffs have a very high aggro rating, which means the mob will attack you if you do it mid-fight. Added a couple misc tips.

OoM: out of mana

MC: master class

Cha=Charisma=Heals
Dex=Dexterity=Dmg
Wis=Wisdom=Power
Sta=stamina=Health

Races and Starting Stats
Humans, Elves and Halflings can all be druids

Chose a race you like, but also consider which kind of druid you want to be. Do you want to be a damage dealing druid? Then go DoT path, halflings have higher dex which will help you do more damage. Do you want to be a pure healing druid? Then go heal path, elves have higher starting cha, which will help your heals.

The break down is like this:

Elves: Highest base CHA. 70 base Cha, 85 Base Wis and 80 base Dex.

Humans: 75 base Dex, 80 Base Wis and 65 Base Cha

Halflings: Highest Dex. Dex 85, Wis 75, Cha 60.

Okay, so you have a race now place your TPs.(General Guide)

for a group-oriented druid:
Elves: 10 into cha, 5 dex and 5 Wis

Humans: 10 Cha, 5 Dex , 5 wis.

Halflings: Make up for your lost wis and cha, don't touch dex just yet. 15 cha, 5 wis.

Soloing/Damage druids

Elves: 10 Dex 10 Stam

Humans: 10 dex 5 Stam 5 cha

Halflings: 10 Stam 5 Dex 5 Cha

Newbie zones:

Halflings have a balanced Starting area in Misty thicket to start with, as well as guards to run to if things go bad. Close to merchants, so you can sell and buy drinks/food without going to Rivervale.

Elves have a very close starting area, right under their city. Guards to run to if things go bad, close to merchants, as well as a bee hive you can visit if you have a group around lvl six.

Humans: I'm not a fan of surefall, the newbie area is spread out, while there are some guards its not that easy to get to them in a pinch. Merchants in Surefall only.

TP PLACEMENT
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR POWER POOL (BLINKING STATS)
Tp placement: Cha>Wis>Dex. Cha for heals Wis and dex for
PWR. For every 2 cha I recommend 1 dex and 1 wis. (so put two into a and one into dex and one into wis.) Sta is also important, put a few TPs in thier when you can spare them.

DAMAGE/SOLO DRUID! Dex>Stam/Str(if you'd like)>Cha/Wis or build up a ton of DEX and WIS for alot of power and mosre nuke casts (Dex>Wis>Stam/Cha/Str)

Soloing Stratagies
Nuke, Nuke, Nuke, root when your low on power or health and run back and drink/heal. Melee even if your damage sucks, and BUY CHARM ANIMAL AT 20!!!

PATH CHOICES!

DoT: this path is centered around damaging the mob over time. kinda like a more powerful version of your swarm spells. (enkindle i believe at lvl 20)

Heal: Insta group heal. Pretty handy. Aggro's like a buff though. (creeping health @ 20)

Equipment
Your main focus on equipment should be making up any lost cha or wis and dex. Depending on which stat you choose to focus more on your gear stats may change. I'm pretty sure I had mostly Cha gear and wis/dex jewlry. Stamina is very very important though, invest in a couple sta pieces of your choice.

Example: You decide to concentrate on Cha and put alot of your TPs there. Your gear needs to reflect that with enough boosts to keep your Wis and Dex up to par. So buy maybe a full set of crafted wis and dex armor, a few charisma jewlry peices and a couple of stamina jewlry pieces.

Weapons: Staves are all well and good if the stats are nice but a shield will benifit you most, in a group or solo, for extra defense. If your tanks are all good, you may never really need a shield all that much, but its always good to have one.

You group and you

While your group most likely wont mind you melee'ing, it doesnt give the tank time to notice an to you and taunt off before it hits you. and cast spell ONLY when you have left over mana. If you're out of mans and can't heal because you chose to nuke, and your tank dies, your group ins't going to be happy.

My recommendation is throw a heal on your tank, DoT the mob and stand back and do nothing but heal when you need to.

Choosing CM's:

Your focus with CMs is to increase stats, with out spending TPS. Also, some give handy abilities. I would recomend buying the general cha/cha max sta/sta max and wis/wis max CMs, as well as any archetype/class CMs you find usefull.

Important CM's
Group -skin spells are essential

The other form (nature's sway) CMs are needed for wilding (dicussed later in the guide) but do take away your wolf. Adds Cha and Wis, you make the discision.

Wild runner is handy and required for wilding.

Charm animal is good for soloing as well as added dmg in a group (be careful though, once the charm runs out it will attack you)

For other CMs plus race and archetype CMs see www.hodstock.com

MC Choices(Propz to nash for the MCs!)

Be sure to plan ahead and place TPs according to your choice of master class. The MCs are extensions of Paths, but just cause you went heal by no means you cant go storm caller or vice versa.

Main Healer- Raids (Heal Path)
Wilding- wis max +50, hp max +500, fr +10, cr +10, pr +10, dr +10, lr +10, ar +10, movement rate +15
Required level: 55
Required stats: sta: 150, wis: 200
Points spent: 500
Requried masteries abilitys: Nature's Sway 3, Wild Runner 1
MC abilitys: Wild Growth- Wildings call upon nature to quickly heal their companions. Targetable heal for 650+ plus 350+ on players in AoE range
Wild Nature- Reclusive and solitary, wildings are able to take nature's form. Self buff giving Illusion;Badi. +120 str/agi, and +1200 HP

Casting Druid (Extension Of DoT path)
Storm Caller- dex max +50, pwr max +500, lr +25
Required level: 55
Required stats: dex: 200
Points spent: 500
Required masteries abilitys: Stormy Coat 3
MC abilitys: Call Lightning- Storm Callers invoke lightning from the sky, dealing great damage to NPCs. Lightning-based nuke. Does (1368 + 15% DEX) damage for 393 power.
Thunderous Mark (Storm Caller's Curse)- Thunder sounds each time a storm caller's enemy is struck, causing damage. Defensive proc buff, cast on mob, which deals lightning damage on the mob every time it is struck. 60 second duration 600 recast

The rest I'm not an expert on but I'll do my best to tell you thier roles.

Main healer- Raids
Divner- wis max +50, sta +15, dex +15, wis +15, cha +15, pwr max+250, PoT +15
Required level: 55
Required stats: wis: 250
Points spent: 500
Required masteries abilitys: Diviner's Presence 3, Diviner's Wisdom 3, Diviner's Form 3, Diviner's Fortitude 3
MC abilitys: Divine Touch- Stacking heal for 700 + (cha/4). 668 power, 3 cast, 27 recast.
Soothing Prayer- Anti aggro. Draws the mob off of you.

Human MC- Mercenary not even worth mentioning for a healer. Bad choice, but you make that call you can find it on hodstock by looking under Human Druid on the CM page.

Elf MC- Immortal: Good PoT, Int not really needed by a druid, decent Wis boost. plus a Power/Health buff, not the best choice but since its up to you, this is a solid choice if you don't plan to be grinding, or be a main healer.

Halfling MC: Deputy: not reall suited to be a druid. I supose if you want a dex boost but other than that the abilities are pretty much useless.

Were-Forms

No were form is great for a druid, the one most go, and is seemingly the best for a druid is lion, which gives STA and Agil. So its really up to you, just remember the stats and which ones you want. (sta and agil don't directly help a druid, but will help your defense which is always good)

Misc Tips
If you NEED to buff mid fight, cast bramble(ect)shield first, this helps the tank keep aggro while you buff

DONT DONT DONT neglect your power pool stats, or else you'll run OoM constantly.

Buy ALL your spells as soon as, or sooner (to have them ready when you level), than you can.

Stand back from your group, but with in the buff's area of effect range if you have a bard or other such support player in your group.

Well, your now prepared (decently anyway) to be a druid. Good luck and have fun. Druids are my personal favorite class, and can be a ton of fun. Anyone have any suggestions? Bump! More oppinions!

I like that things that are helpful are getting rated up now though. Mine is at the high 3.somethings and nmuks is at 4.something.

This brings tears to my eyes after being karma camped.
