BH/Ranger retiring into a life of destruction and crimeFollow

Well it happened. I actually got bored of a chosen profession for the first time LOL.

I had been working up to BH/Ranger until about a month ago, when I chose to switch to another galaxy and start a new char. After spending even more time and focusing even more mental energy into this new character, i had a revelation. I realized that this char was stronger than my bh/ranger, and decided to take a closer look at my underused buddie. I saw that the bh/ranger, being my first swg character, and skill points in other classes and a whole slew of problems with HAM stats and whatnot that had accumulated from newbie-itis. With sadness and a little spontaniety, I surrendered a few skills and started working up unarmed (keep in mind this occured within the span of 20 minutes of looking at it today) I had backlogged over 100k pistol xp and i was just over the required combat xp limit for commando. So then it hit me. All i needed was unarmed 4 and i could have access to 2 cool professions.

After all, i did want smuggler since i started SWG in august. And the flamethrower on commando also intrigued me. So i chose to pursue Commando/Smuggler and revoke my hardearned bh/ranger.

I plan on keeping the entire tracking row on ranger (i like finding people) but i will no longer be a bounty hunter or have cool camps or conceal or terrain negotiation over +50 :(

Well, thats that part...

Now, i need advice.

Smuggler: Okay, what resources are required to slice and/or make spices? I mean what sorts of metals, plants and crafting tools will be needed? What do I grind for slice xp or spice xp. I know i'm going to have to beg for locked containers and slice dh17's til i burst from agony, but any tips or shortcuts would help.

Commando: If i hope to grind the Flamethrower and half of the acid rifle tree, what should i grind, what damage/speed should i look for in a heavy weapon?

Thanks alot :)

Ok, for slicing, yes...better save up those locked containers. If you have the cash, go to a major city and rummage through the bazaar.

You can do the samething with weapons, buy up every cheap poc weapon you can find to slice. Or get someone to make 10 or so crates of cdef pistols.
The main metals for slicing are copper and non-ferrous. (nodes and clamps)

spicing grinding I did almost exclusively with shadowpaw at lower levels...that uses meat and metal. At higher level, I went for whatever had the most complexity and the best situational availability for myself.

Lastly, you will need around 1.5 million pistol xp.

Slicing and spice grinding go pretty fast but the pistol drags as one of the two pistol trees does not aid in combat.

Yeah i find that if you look around at perosonal vendors you can find cdefs for like 100 credits or what the heck! pick up novice artisan make your own damn weapons and sell em on the bazaar! you could make a fortune mauhahahaahahahahahahahah errrr not but still theres an idea.

As well, Bounty Hunter is not the strongest proffesion what so ever. It is the life style and the ability to hunt bountys thats why its so difficult to get and not the best proffesion. As for your ranger skills.. . . . ranger never appealed to me maybe since i was more combat oriented then most my first day i had jawas attacking me at their own will (ehehe) so im a combat freak but otherwise good luck on smuggler/commando.

I found the spice grind to very leisurley. I crafted while sampling the metal and everything else usually can be scouted. IMO easiest grind there is. And the muon at the end is great no more being broke. But even some of the pre-muon spices are useful and people buy. Thrusterhead the step down sells for 500 and is MUCH simpler to make. I leanred the hard way about sampling radioactives while trying to make my first muon. You better have a doctor on hand. BTW a doc could get some great XP in a downtime having someone sample radioactive nearby.

I have two questions.
1) Why isnt the smuggler profession sneaking goods past imperials

2) Is the only advantage to being a bounty hunter being able to collect bounties. In other words, can you get any good weapons from it?

1) The Devs are currently making patches to fix that. Such as Imp crackdown. (At least they say the smugglers will have some contraband.)

2) In all of my experiences, the lightning cannon is a VERY nice weapon.

SPICE USERS BEWARE.

Trando, we've been having free reign with the spice kinda like the SW US or something. Come on man they just blew up the death star. Before that it was ruff. But they havent had time to bust people for petty stuff like a little spice here and there......

IMPERIAL CRACKDOWN

They finally seem to be going back to those days when "we" did have to smuggle. Imps have recovered from that blow and now are bored again, coming after a few people just for spice. There coming T... There coming...
