Creature Handler Questions :: World of Warcraft

How do you determine the Creature Handler taming level for a creature? Is is based on Challenge Level or something else?
I'm a novice CH with +12 taming (Just novice no extra yet) and looking for a pet to take out hunting. So far I have a Bol that is a mount. 900HAM and hits for 50-100. Anything better at my level and where do they spawn?

You could always talk to an Bio Engineer and make him / her craft you a really nasty pet with a high HAM and good resistance. He will make on that is much more powerfull that the creatures you would be able to catch, so that is the best advice.

Only problem is with a BE is that they have a pet cloning nerf at the moment.
