Upon visiting Allakhazam.com this evening, I was greeted by a post on the homepage about the Imperial Crackdown. The small little story made me think it was a silly fanfic. Upon checking out the little links, I saw proof. It happened, for real! Harmlessly shooting a probe droid will bring hell down to you, in the form of an Imperial shuttle with a contingent of Stormtroopers who were sent to dispatch the character on Test Center.

Finally, a ruthless and tyranical Empire that actually feels like a ruthless and tyranical Empire!!! Yeah.

Bring on da pain, Empire! I'd rather be killed by an NPC Imperial Stormtrooper contingent than a snotty PVP troll!!! LOL

I would have to agree with Alavance, I think bringing in more IMP support will better further the storyline and make the SWG world more realistic for Players of both Reb. and Imp factions. I personally am a REB. But I was starting to think whats the point, Reb terminals and recruiters are out in the open, and I can take missions from either Rebs or Imps with no apparent reservation on the mission terminals part. My suggestion now is to give all Imp Players more NPC support, to really make the Imps seem like the Imps in the movies.

In the books and the movies both there are always informants and spies behind every corner reporting Rebel activity to Imp death squads. Lets make the Imps as evil as they are supposed to be. If players don't want to be Imps, fine, support player Imps with NPC's.

Finally the fight against the Imps only makes since if the Imps are truly oppresive. If the Imps don't shoot first and ask question later, if they don't use gestapo like tactics, if they aren't evil, then whats the point in fighting them.

Good points, both of you. Honestly, thus far the empire's only been evil and horrible because we know its supposed to from the movies. Its about time the rebels actually had some atrocities to rebel against (Alderann doesn't count, happened before the game starts). I'm thinking this crackdown may very well be a good good thing...Now if the Imps can finally get the player manning they've been so desperately lacking....

I think having more Imp hanging around major cities is a great idea. I once was cruising thru Theed and for the first time seen 8 Storm Troopers and was suddenly reminded that this was Star Wars! They also had an AT-ST or it could have been from a player.

Once players have the ability to go from planet to planet on their own via their own Starship I think the Spynet Operatives at each Shuttle and Starport should be setup to call down the mighty Imp rath on any Overt rebel who comes thru the shuttleports.

Also, now with insured item decay gone I think that would make it alot more interesting to play. Instead of just ho humming it thru cities surrounded by imp npcs.

Hmmmm....I posted something similar to this idea in JEST3R's sticky about Imp Crackdown suggestions back on Jan 7. I wonder if....nah.Smiley: wink

Yeah, Avalance, the rebels (of which I am one) need to be oppressed. I think it is great. Bring it on, oppress me, kick my dog, slap my droid, spit on my rancors....well, maybe not spit on my rancors ( I don't relish the idea of bathing those guys).

In short, if you got it - flaunt it!

Good job posting Avalance, as I think a lot of people wouldn't have followed all the links on this.Smiley: yippee

Heh.... Nah, I havent read that thread yet. Great minds think alike eh? :)

I'm not even currently playing SWG since I needed to knock off for a month or two to get another job and get some money saved up. I realized it was time for a break after a 22 hour gaming binge...less the restart of course. ;)

I just come in here to get a lil bit of gossip since SOE is **** about having non-players accessing the forums. I guess its understandable but still I get no love from them. :) Need my fix from time to time... :)

Here is an excerpt from the thread (edited for pertinent content):

Subject: Covert involvement in GCW

Issue: Obviously, if one is covert (like myself) they do not wish to play PvP on any kind of a consistant basis. However if they actually took the time to join a faction, they must still want SOME type of involvement in the conflict.

Suggestion 1. There are all those ships going overhead, which amount to eye candy atm, how about one of them landing when a covert group is detected (by scanner) - a sysgroup message appears - and a round of auto-TEF's (compliments of the opposing faction NPCs) for the group.

I still like the idea of being harrassed while already in battle with a mob, however.

This is all a great idea as long as the dumbass weedy Imperial NPC's dont just become a free duckshoot for rebel PvPer's. All these crackdown NPC's should be non lootable and should not give any faction points.

I joined Wanderhome yesterday just after server reset and there was 1 (yes one) Rebel master commando in the Dantooine Imp outpost wiping out every storm trooper in sight as they spawned. There were at least 20 corpses on the ground. THIS SUCKS AND MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN!
