Coveret/OvertFollow

I kind of like the covert/overt idea. I think they need to change it a little. I think that a covert rebel should not have to find a recuiter to go overt. I think that all a covert rebel should have to do is attack an overt Imperial. That would make the rebel go overt. Now the kicker is that the player stays overt for 1 hr, ( hmm is attacking this overt player worth going overt for 1 hr?) even if the rebel gets deathblown and clones they still are overt until the hour is up. Hey, the rebels are basicly the gurrillas and terrorists of the game, the imps never know were and when we will attack.
I can see it now a group of covert rebels come into a Imperial held city then all at once they attack and become overt. After laying waste to the Imperial lackys, the ride off into the sunset another attck carred off . BUT wait, what is this? The imperials clone regroup and take off after the rebel scum because the rebels are still overt for another 30min.
To be fair this could also work the other way with the Imps.
the reson I came up with this thread is because when I found out my city/base was being attacked I had to go down to the recruiter to go overt. Well what do you know, there were 8 Imperials there waiting for me to go overt aint that a *****. So I came up with the above idea.

Hmmmm, don't know about that. For the record I am a covert reb -usually. The one problem I see is 10 covert reb or imp buddies getting together and all firing at once on a lone opponent.

Another problem would be clone station camping. If you are overt for an hour after cloning the griefers would eat you alive.

However I do agree the "recruiter" method is a flop. It is like running to Dad to see if you can go out and play with the boys (and girls - although I hate P.C. crap).

I personally think we should have a uniform that can be worn or combat macro that can be clicked to go overt/covert. Once you go overt your symbol would appear immediately. However maybe there could be a delay before you can enter combat. Either that or you can not go overt while within so many meters of town.

I say this for the same reason, with no delay you could just have 20 soldiers walk into town and someone signals and they all go overt at the same time and voila! --- intant St. Valentine's Day massacre.

I do not know the solution, my idea is probably flawed as well.

*sigh* But you are right - it sure doesn't work too well now.

Well my friends and I have discussed this in some great detail and this is what we would like to see tired...

No TEF's
No interaction between coverts and overts except conversation.
To go Overt you simply have to type /delcare
To go Covert you have to go to a recruiter
Player looting to be reinstuted

here's the why's

NO TEF's or Covert/Overt interaction.
TEF's are the biggest source of complaints in the PvP system as it is now...So no healing, no trading, no grouping, and even no tipping from a Covert to an Overt or vice-a-versa...in short no interaction. You are either in PvP or you are not...no more middle ground..."It is unadviseable to help such a character."

Overt by typing /delcare
This will allow people who come across that poor lone player being slapped around by a group to join in....after all if an Imperial saw some Rebels attacking an Imperial they have an obligation to the Emperor to restore order....and as a Rebel you should be able to take advantage of an opportunity that presents itself. This would also allow for sneak attacks and ambushes to be setup...this would also add value to the covert faction scanners...(which btw we would like to see mobile units...but this would cause a whole new set of problems as peaceful faction supports would get ripped into combat...so maybe not a good idea)

Going Covert at the Recruiters
The main reason for this is to keep folks from declaring...then whoopin' up on someone else...and then they get away by some fast way of going covert...not fair to the poor sole who just got jumped...maybe 30 minutes until covert...maybe leave it an hour...maybe make it so you spend faction points to go covert...(we are still discussing this part)

Player looting
Bottom line is there is not enough danger in dieing...and think about the guy who has as much money as he wants... buying the best guns, armor, food, drink, buffs, and spice...then going on a one man rampage of glory and honor...leaving carnage in his wake...only to be finally brought down and then looted for a random item...could be anything...equipped or not equipped... from a camp, to money, to a piece of his armor, or even his beloved gun...well maybe this guy will think twice before going hostile...and maybe people wouldn't risk their uber items in a PvP roll...maybe the playing field would be that much more level...who know's....(personally I use the best I have all the time and I am willing to chance it)

Also that if you are using any faction perk...from armor to weapons to pets you are automatically overt and if you die the items that were making you overt automatically unequip or store themselves unless they are in combat (pets).

Well thats my 2 credits...what ya think?

TEF serves a perposed for the Coverts .. and it's a good system in my book.
Kinf of like the idea of sneaking and taking the Faction Scanner, then having to avoid now Hostile NPC's to get back to cover. One person in and then Support Port is clear
And you can use the /declare command if with in 50m of faction recruiter to go Overt.

And this is why I love forums....I didn't know the Recruiter had a 50m range....SWEEEEEEETTTT...
