Does boosting Faction actually help in anyway? I know if your stupid it can hurt but I have not read anything that gave a benefit of having a high faction.

Yes there are some quests that requires you to have a certain amount of faction to be able to talk to a npc.
Or, if you want to buy/sell in a given city, but cant cuz they dont like you, you'll need to raise ye faction.

Yup get all the faction u can. U will defitnetly need it later on.
