Today's attempt also went poorly. Today I got a pretty decent Paladin tank, but the healer was a joke. She had painfully bad gear. She was level 45 but didn't even have AF. She didn't even have all of her slots filled, and the ones that were filled had level 20 and 30 stuff in them. She just couldn't keep up with the damage.

Yeah, that's an issue, especially when it's compounded with the fact that healer gear is already hardish to come by. You don't really want much crit or determination until you have a solid amount of spell speed and piety, with the latter being damn important. But since Arcanists and Thaums don't care much about their mp pools, having heavy refresh-based skills, it's an issue for early gearing.

Hopefully I find some time to log in tomorrow.

This was hilarious watching explode for no reason other than reddit being retarded. Charging for titan runs is nothing special. The screencap was of one member making an offhand joke about sabotaging runs.

Yeah, it really is. It should probably be rebalanced.

That, or they need to make the duty finder more discerning with it. For one, there's absolutely no room for someone to be so undergeared as to not even have all their slots full. It just can't happen. MAYBE if you had a tank with a full endgame set, scaled down. But I don't actually know how scaling works.

You might scratch by if that person is a dps. But she does have an enrage timer in P2, iirc, so even that is a lot to ask of the other dps.

And, to be completely fair, it can be difficult to see what she's actually doing. I understood the strategy, and managed to avoid the horrible AoE, but mostly because I winged it and got lucky. Because knowing the strategy is only so much help if you can't discern the cues for the next tactic.

Most of the hubbub I saw had nothing to do with the actuality of charging for Titan runs. It was someone iun a position of power on the subreddit moderating threads regarding themselves. While the trigger case may have been unfounded, you're still talking about an admin using their administrative powers to moderate threads regarding their own actions.

They're adding ilvl checks for DF in a future patch, IIRC.

Eh, it's not like you're going to fall behind on the story quest anyway...

Also, I've generally been logging on most nights if someone wants to transfer leadership over to me. Doesn't matter to me though.

Exactly. There is comedy in those threads, but the comedy is the people who are pontificating without having read the actual thread (which I believe is now deleted?).

That makes more sense.

I have no problem with selling runs. Didn't care in WoW, don't care here.

But a mod trying to control the board to promote those runs or mitigate the spread of information is a much different issue.

And really, the stuff he did with the threads probably would have been don e by another mod anyway. It's just a matter of removing yourself from the situation when there's a possible conflict of interest. It was just a poor judgement call. While it did blow up a bit unnecessarily, I think there was at least a legitimate concern.

As far as sabotaging runs goes, it would be a ridiculously stupid idea anyway. You'd have to be almost constantly doing it, with a network of players across all servers in your group in order to drive any real market towards your own run-selling. Furthermore, you're talking about sabotaging these runs and then having the other players come to the very same FC who sabotaged their run in order to pay for the win? You'd almost have to create a separate FC for sabotage runs to keep it clear of the FC for selling runs. All in all, it's quite the excessive amount of work for not much gil/hour return. At the moment, running dungeons/CM for tomestones and selling materials likely yields a higher gil/hour rate.

What I just assumed is that it would be one of those scenarios where you sell the item, pending its drop. Like, you bring along a Blm looking for their weapon from Ifrit, and you bring a group of players that don't need the weapon and can clear the content without help from the last player regardless. They get it when it drops, at the price of a ton of gil.

That's how it was back in oldschool WoW. I never heard much about selling runs after BC, though.

At the end of the day, it's not particularly special. Sabotaging runs for any reason is a **** move, and I really don't care if you're selling runs.

I think they were selling runs for 150k per run. I don't think it was contingent on the weapon dropping. They were price fixing with other FC on Ultros, setting the price at 150k, but apparently it is much higher on other servers.

They're selling for 700k on legacy servers, apparently. And you can see there the germination of the idea to price fix, at the least. They were selling for 150k and then this guy contacted the other FC selling runs on Ultros and told them to sell for 200k (according to the screenshots of the FC convo he had, that someone in the FC didn't block out when they posted a stream).

I just find his whole attitude difficult to reconcile with his being a mod on that forum. I mean, saying things like Ultros must be full of broke stingy people, and then laughing in that screenshot of the FC chat about people getting upset about the whole thing on reddit.

The mod removed the images or posts that directly named people, because name-shaming is not allowed on reddit. After the initial **** you can bet another mod was the one deleting posts. Why did you automatically assume the same mod was deleting everything, are you as bad as all the idiots on reddit?

If there were no other mod available, it's not really that bad. Look, I get that he only removed posts that broke rules. That's not the issue. The issue is that he was specifically involved in the subject of the threads. Whether or not they broke legitimate rules, he should have gotten another mod involved from the outset. I'm not saying that removing those threads is a big issue, but it is a legitimate one.

I never assumed that the same moderator was deleting everything.

Reddit isn't a police investigation or a courtroom, crying conflict of interest is just that: crying. This is like telling Kao that he can't moderate posts that break the rules because they also so happen to defame his character. It's nonsensical panties in a bunch *********

This is your opinion and you are entitled to it. It is not fact. If you had read the thread you would have seen that no one is "assuming he didn't get another mod involved from the outset," you would know that he said that he deleted posts and then thought perhaps he should get another mod involved. So, here you are doing what you are accusing Spoon of doing - talking without having taken the time to obtain all of the facts.

And no, reddit is not a police investigation or a courtroom, it is a moderated forum. Users participate in the forum because it is moderated and because they can trust the moderators to be impartial in enforcing the rules of the forum. No one here is "crying" conflict of interest. People are commenting on what they have observed and what the moderator in question admitted to.

Now, we can argue about this but (1) argument does not change facts, and (2) it would only serve to feed into your trolling.

The head honcho mod released an official statement saying that the mod did get him involved, but not until after he had deleted some of the statements. Head honcho mod confirmed they were legitimate acts of moderation, as they were significant violations of one or more board rules, but that he understood why a mod with a personal interest in the content would be a worrisome order of events.

He confirmed he has handled all the moderation of that content since then, and that they're having an internal conversation about the scenario so that something like this does not happen again.

Server transfers coming soon.

Additional info / tl;dr:

"World transfers will be free for the first five days to allow users who weren’t able to join their friends due to server overcrowding a chance to do so. After the first five days users will have to pay to transfer. Additionally, server capacity will be increased to offer players a greater chance of getting onto the server they want to."
"To qualify for a transfer players must meet the following requirements:"
Must not be part of a Free Company.
Must be logged out at the moment of transfer.
Must not have any items in the market.
Players may be limited to how much Gil they can carry over.
"In the event of a name clash it will be the character joining the server that must change their name."

I'm halfway through level 46, my next story mission isn't until level 49 and I don't have any quests available. I'm going to have to grind out 80-90 FATEs and Leves just to get to level 49. My interest in this game is waning rather quickly at this point.

Im 41 and haven't had much chance to play since the weekend, I noticed quests really drop off at higher levels. They give enough quests/exp for about 1/2 a level and you have to grind out the rest. I tested this theory and fated all of 39 doing no quests and when I hit 40 I did nothing but quests to 41. I think I was about 10k short.

Grinding out 46-50 doesn't sound like much fun.

That's exactly the point I hit like 2 weeks ago, and it's why I haven't played since then.
