I would love to go to Blizzcon, but would have no way of getting there even if I won.

And if I entered and got a premium package, I'm only 16, so I'd be disqualified anyways. Stoopid 18 eligibility rules.

/wrist

But otherwise, good luck to all who enter!

Aethien has a point. Can we have an alternate sweepstakes for the folks who are not eligible for this contest? A bit of premium, fan pics of DF, something so that a chunk of the regular forum posters don't just get dealt out?

I seriously want ZAM to sponsor (Sponsor?) a Canadian contest.

See how you all like that! :D

I'm not entirely sure why contests are only open to US folks. I believe it has something to do with laws in other countries with regards to those kinds of things. I know the subject has come up before.

Wouldn't the contest likely have to be within the rules of each country you wanted to have it available to, thus making a "non-US residents" contest extremely hard to do, what with each country having differing laws?

we do the same thing for US contests and because of similar concerns -- more than 50 varying sets of laws.

Notice the language used for the US only version:

Quote:
This Sweepstakes is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.

A boilerplate disclaimer under "Eligibility" addresses conflict of law at the federal, state and local level; similar language is repeated under "Conditions of Participation/Release". It is routine boilerplate, the key restriction is that the offer is void where prohibited (sometimes drafted as prohibited or limited by law).

I'm sure one of our European members could provide an example of similar disclaimers used there.

Note: I realize that Wordaen and the other admin's don't write the contest rules. This is simply a post in the discussion thread and is not intended as criticism of their efforts. File it under the category of "well, why can't we improve the situation?"
