Reinjin's Guide to the Most Annoying Areas in WoWFollow

An ongoing effort to catalogue the annoyances of Azeroth and Outland.

THE DEEPRUN TRAM - Think it'd be cute to jump around or do some power-dancing while the tram is in motion? Think again. If you fall, you'll be facing a five-minute walk down a dim tunnel to your exit - trams whizzing by your head all the while. To top it all off, you may run into two elves having sex in the shadows. Whether that will make the trip more or less enjoyable...is between you and your deity.

THE UNDERCITY - Welcome to the Undercity. Here are the main gates to the city. There's a wall between you and the courtyard, though, so go left or right around it. Welcome to the courtyard. But the door that leads to the throne room is closed so go left or right around it. Now you need to get to the tomb room, so go left or right from the throne room. Now you'll need to take a tunnel to the elevators. Whoops, that tunnel goes back to the throne room.

SILVERPINE FOREST - Wouldn't it be funny if a level 27 elite came by and killed you randomly?

THE BARRENS - The Barrens.

WAILING CAVERNS - All the drama and length of an endgame instance, but populated exclusively by druids in pink jumpsuits and walking trees. Good training for the day when a rogue called "deathkiller" finds their way into a BRD PUG with you.

ASHENVALE FOREST - At first sight, it would seem that this area has very few quests for your faction. Then you realize, with horror, that you're surrounded by the defiled corpses of what used to be friendly NPCs.

STRANGLETHORN VALE - If the PvP doesn't kill you, being killed in seconds by five troll hunter mobs and their pet panthers will.

GNOMEREGAN - Warning! Warning! Intruder Alert! Intruder Alert! The Sparklematic 5200 is empty, awaiting a grime-encrusted object to clean and three silver coins to start. The Sparklematic 5200 comes to life, lurching to and fro. Inside, the helpless grime that has encrusted the object placed within it is being pulverized by the machine's gnomish cleaning agent. The Sparklematic 5200 comes to a halt, heralded by a familiar "ding!" The item receptacle of the machine spirals open, revealing a neatly wrapped box. TANARIS - Pirate: HYEH! *schwing schwing* *disarmed, you are left to punch the pirate for eight seconds until your weapon is restored* *two seconds later...schwing schwing*

More to come later. Feel free to post your own.

Stormwind City/Ironforge AH and Bank area - Going about my business, checking mail <clunk> trade window opens (with no preceding conversation)...click close. Return to business, run to AH...<clunk> sign my quild charter...click close. Run to mailbox <drumroll> Duel challenge...click close. Get to mailbox, disenchant materials purchased on AH...whisper...wanna buy an enchant? Um, can't you see I'm disenchanting stuff? Why would I need to buy an enchant from you? Argh.

Winterspring - Rivern Frostwind, Wintersaber Trainer. Would it be so difficult to make this a stackable quest turn-in? It's going to take forever anyway, why make it so I have to come back to Mr. Frostwind every time to turn in the 5 chillwind and shardtooth meats, running through the frostsabers each time? Please let me stack up a bunch of meat and turn in a whole bunch at a time, please.

You know what's a useless zone? That one that Theramore is in. It's so useless, I can't even think of the name. It has Ony...which means lots of higher players to gank you when you're trying to do the 6 quests it has to offer...all of which are spread out and stupid.

Westfall - Home, home on the range. Where the pillagers and the noobs play. Seriously though, damn those pillagers. Damn them to hell. Really. Fireballs that take away 1/3rd of your life every single hit. Not overpowered at all. Nope, definetely not. And god forbid you get a link.

Don't even get me started on the Deadmines.

Funny - that's how I see Westfall 'cept with Defias instead of dead things. :P

Desolace: This looks like a nice place to fish.....why is the ground shaking? ~~looks around and sees 39 elite giant~~ Uh oh............~~running back from graveyard~~

LMAO @ the OP.

Bladesedge Mountains Outlands:

Go forth and strip the clothes from Wyrm Cult Fanatics to create a clever costume. 65 mobs later.......only 2 more peices needed to complete 1 costume. Wait is that another link? It sure is! And since you blew your cooldowns on the last 5 links you got its time to take a dirt nap buddy. No biggie, death is a part of life WAIT WTF! I'm all the way down at the Sylvanis graveyard?

20 minutes later.... Ok got my body back now. 30 minutes later:Got my costume peices talked to the guy. Turned in quest. Huh? Go back again and kill boss?

Star Wars: NoooooooooooooooooooooooooooOooOOOooooOOOoo!!!!

i kinda had it when i saw a mage killing the birds there 10-15 at a time.
i know i cant compare to mages, but damn... i can kill fast! i'm a hunter.
seconds later i saw a priest also killing stuff 3 times as fast as i did. they were both from a big raiding guild though..... and he was 1 lvl higher then me.
(i was 55, the mage and priest 56)

In Stormwind between the AH and the Bank.

I get pounded with Whisps always ranging from - "Will you run me through **Insert Instanec here**?" to "Can I have **insert Amount** Gold?"

sigh, while some zone layouts and mob pathings are annoying I'm afraid it's the Lazy players that are the most annoying.

I have an immense dislike for The Underbog.

Ok, a zillion pulls, almost all of them either bugs, funky bat-things, or swamp men. Mix and match, repeat many, many times. Loop the path but really make it one, long, uninterrupted path to the end.

Bosses, please make sure they are merely bigger versions of the same dungeon trash you just cleared out but don't make them interesting, just load em up with hit points.

Repeat.

The worst instance since the Stockades, I think.

It seems that after 40 that happens constantly...I minimize my time as much as I can in cities. Most popular is Deadmines...I hate deadmines. I'd have to say the worst I've had so far is STV annoying wise. Can't even count how many times I've been ganked, followed by endless camping there. Oh yeah...the places with insect mobs that respawn almost before you're done killing the next one...

TARREN MILL - This is a Horde zone you say? Then why is it always full of Alliance? And where are the Horde NPCs? Oh they're dead already. May as well try to level my Horde in IF.

More on Silverpine Forrest - Wouldn't it be nice to have a level 27 Elite Mob come by and kill you randomly, only to have you rezz and move to another completely different area of the zone to have the same Level 27 Elite mob come by and kill you randomly, etc, etc..

How many Spawn points does that ******* have anyway?

I'm not sure but I'm thinking at least two - one north of Sepulcher and one down in the south of the zone.

He's got a huge wandering path though and there seem to be points on the path where he can randomly go one of several directions. I usually keep an eye out if I'm in the area and I have even followed him at times to be sure he's not coming back any time soon.

I find that completely opposite on my server. I can never go into SS without dying after getting off gryph, or just sitting in the inn trying to log out.

Theramore/Dustwallow Marsh- Ok, gotta do this quest. Run north, still running, running, running. Now, gotta go south into the marsh. running, running, running. Can't see a thing....alligator chomp! spider bite! Ooze splat! The most annoying zone in the game.

Stranglethorn Vale- Actually, I like this zone...but dang, the rebel camp and booty bay are far apart. Gotta turn in a quest at the rebel camp....next quest turned in at booty bay (5 minutes later). Next new quest objective....northern STV. D'oh!

Wetlands. Long run from one end to the other....

Now that I look back at this post, I think I have an aversion to running! That is the case in real life as well.

Thousand Needles- You can't just stick on auto-run and do something else. All the weaving in and out of the pillars gets annoying. Also, when you go to do some quests, you have to find a certain ramp that goes all the way up to the top of the pillar to kill some tauren things. Not to mention, if you die, you have to find it again. Also, shimmering flats...could there not be a FP out there? Between running from the Great Lift, to the post, and then to shimmering flats, it's just amazingly annoying.

Felwood...fly into zone...run all the way to bottom to get quest...random gank...run all the way up to complete quest objective...run all the way back to turn in quest...random gank...get 2nd part of quest to same spot...run all the way back up to complete objective...random gank...run back down to turn in...run all the way back up to catch bird out.
