70 PVP gear (and twinking)Follow

I'm considering making a 70 twink right now. First let me say the current days of twinking aren't what they used to be where level 19 rogues and hunters roamed the BGs looking for juicy 163hp targets in whites and greys.

You can turn off XP to fight other twinks now, and with the BG merge this is viable (especially if you play the underplayed side, ie: Alliance). Queues are pretty fast and you're only matched up against others who turned their XP off as well. So really, you don't have to feel guilty anymore about picking on undergeared targets. Everyone who turns their XP off WANTS to be there.

Why level 70? Well I was looking at the Brutal Glad vendor in Area 52 and gear is CHEAP! I'm talking brutal glad 2h weapons, 350 honor. Every piece from the 5 set is 175 honor or less (chests, helms, etc). They even have DK gear which surprised me (I have a 71dk).

I'm probably making a 70 resto shaman. And my 71dk who I'm leveling will pick up osme of the gear and stay in the "XP on" bracket.

Only problem is right now theres no Guardian gear vendor, but I hear the vendor is back on the PTR and all Guardian off-set pieces are less then 100 honor. So extremely viable to gear up quick for less then 2k honor. Seems fun to me. In the XP on bracket you see a ton of people in brutal gear since its dirt cheap. If you PVP at all while leveling you can probably buy a bunch the second you hit 70.

I have nothing against 85 PVP but I only have time to keep up with 1, maybe 2 characters. Its nice to have some 0 maintenance characters in lower brackets who are geared and dont need "maintenance" ie: honor/arena grinding every season. Sometimes I just want a different playstyle.

You can get the vindicator off set stuff from turning in the t6 tokens from sunwell.

Also you can get some decent pvp rings in sunwell as well.

My paladin was a 70 twink for awhile and was 3/5 brutal with apolyon and just wrecked stuff before 4.0 hit. Now i farm with it, but you know.

Little update, the guardian vendor is back, only thing is you can't get the rings or 2 minute trinket.

This is mah little gnomeie

It's so fast to get gear in this bracket. This character is on a server by himself and I'm close to epic flying but still don't have it yet.

I may end up leveling this guy one day because I'm liking the playstyle of DK and kind of wish I had an 85 dk now. But for now I'm having fun. Everyone is pretty equally geared when you turn off XP because you can get the same gear in like 2 days of BGing.

The other cool thing, if you do it at 70 then decide to turn XP back on and start leveling again, you will absolutely blast through Outlands because iLvl 154 gear is amazing, even if its PVP gear it totally outstrips the stuff you'll get till at least 75. Its completely viable to wear all this stuff till 78 I'd say and lets be realistic, it looks badass.

Sunwell/BT runs happen often, I jumped in a PUG and smashed through Sunwell in 30 minutes (bad rolls that night though QQ) and BT was pretty fast too. Of course DKs have no T6 though but there were a few other 70ish alts who got tons of T6 in like an hour.

If I ever leveled another toon I'd probably take a nice long break at 70, turn off XP again, BG for this gear and do a few BT/Sunwell runs (maybe ZA too for trinkets) before moving on. If you are just in a pure race for 85 its pointless, but if you are just wanting to be 85 to PVP its fun to stop at 70. You have most of the high level abilities, and when everyones geared about equally its pretty balanced too. Games are lots of fun.

I've actually been thinking about doing this, though I don't know what class I'd use. Kind of wish I had done it with my hunter.
