You should all go out and buy Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. I'm not too far into it, but it's a pretty awesome game.

Oh, and if you haven't played an AC game, go out and get AC1/AC2 from the bargain bin. You won't regret it.

I tried Assassin's Creed 1 and enjoyed it but my computer absolutely hated it. For some reason it would lock up at random times. Finally got to the point where I never played it again.

I'm patiently waiting on Bioshock Infinite to come out. That plus Cataclysm will be my only game purchases.

Until something new and shiny catches my eye...

Get it for 360. Far better than for the computer.

PS3 works too, if they make AC1/AC2 for it.

I've thought about getting a 360, but since we own a PS3 and Wii I don't think adding one would go over too well. Plus I saw my new shiny in the form of NFS:Hot Pursuit.

I'd still pick up AC1/AC2 for PS3. They're great games. Fantastic story, really fun gameplay.

AC1 was a terrible game. The story isn't bad, and neither are the graphics. However, the gameplay is repetitive. After you've gone to one town and completed the objectives. You've done all of the towns. I didn't play AC2 because of this, even though they changed it.

By that definition, WoW is repetitive, CoD is repetitive, Halo is repetitive, etc.

AC2 and ACB drastically changed how the series played, which is probably why I like them so much more than AC1. AC1 I liked mainly for the story.

If I had to do it again, I doubt I'd buy AC1 for the full retail price, but I'd pay at least $15 for it, which is actually more than what Gamestop is charging.

You almost have a point comparing CoD, and WoW to AC1, but it's nowhere near the same. CoD/WoW both have online play, so they're not repetitive in the same way that AC1 is. I understand what you're saying, but WoW/CoD are popular for their online play, more than the story.

Well, WoW has it's whole lore thing, but I'd bet a higher percentage of people don't read every quest. They just pick up quests, and then turn them in after they're completed.

Was rolling with an Arcane Mage in Arathi Basin the other night. I was healing him and he was raking in kills from the backline. He kept insisting on PvP not being broken at the moment, though. Made me laugh.

Still working on getting that PvP weapon. Farming 2500 Honor Points when you've got a 10-minute queue and pretty much only get Isle of Conquest and Strand of the Ancients is hard. Three days and I'm up to 255 points now.

It kind of varies, but I'd call it a cross between Zelda and Metal Gear. There are puzzles, but there's also a lot of action sections, which can in general be played either via a "rush in and kill everyone" or "sneak around and stealth assassinate people".

It's got an interesting story as well. Worth checking out if you have a PS3 or Xbox360.

Assassin's Creed is like a mix of Hitman and Prince of Persia.

It's sort of a sandbox game, where you move around within cities, or the surrounding countryside, and do various missions while following the main story arc. How you do the missions are up to you, just like in Hitman.

I think they're amazing games, even if Ubisoft is being a total dick with the new constant online connection required for the later games. If you're into jumping around on walls and roofs to find your target and take him out with throwing knives, poisonous daggers or a concealed stiletto, you're going to enjoy the game.

First one takes place during or after the Crusades back in the old Middle-east. Second game takes place some centuries later in Italy. The graphics are stunning. Climbing a tall tower to get a full view of the landscape and then doing a leap of faith into a pile of hay gets me every time.

Common for both games is that *you* are actually a man from a somewhat close future. Turns out mankind has developed a way to create a virtual reality out of the ancestral memories stored in our blood. The main character is a descendant of these assassins and you play him as he plays the assassins through the virtual reality world.

It's especially amazing for me, having taken Latin for 6 years and having studied Roman history for most of that.

I've also been to Italy a few times, so seeing real places I've been is pretty cool, especially when you can get the view from the top of towers and put it in perspective.

Then of course there's the climbing on famous landmarks. My favorite memory is still climbing the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore in AC2, which I was fascinated by when I was in Florence.

This thread has not delivered lately.

So CoC (the new RoB n AoA event) is a PvP battle ground on my server. I've gone a few times and every time it turns into a small war until either we win and finish or get overwhelmed and retreat.

Good times.

THEO!
I need basic and reliable info on hunter PvP. Specs, pets, arena teams, (rated) BG stuff and general tips and tricks.
I don't really want to go to ArenaJunkies cause from my experience it's mostly people telling each other how much they suck so where can I get that info?

Or can you help me fill in this post?

I'll work on research this week. I'm currently flying back from Detroit where I had no Internet (thank Jesus for in-flight wifi) other than on 3G, so I'll probably work on it during leveling breaks while getting my hunter to 85.

I miss the good old days where you could three-shot people with the right cooldowns. Ambush followed by Backstab and a Cold Blood Eviscerate. Good times, farming Molten Core raid groups in Blackrock Mountain.

Nostalgia.

Maz, your nostalgia is actually a very relevant point with regards to backstab's positional requirement. I didn't rogue in Vanilla, but from everything I've heard it used to hit like a truck relative to health pools and resilience availability (i.e., the complete lack thereof). So it made sense to restrict it somewhat. With today's 100k+ health pools (in pve gear!) and with the gobs of resil on pvp gear, it amounts to handicapping an ability that is underpowered to begin with.

Personally, as a sucker for the lore/feel of the game and as an enemy of homogenization, I don't like the idea of removing the positional requirement. At the very least, it needs a major dmg buff (more than it is getting in 406) so that when I do manage to overcome my latency and general pvp suckiness, I'm consistently rewarded with big ridiculous yellow numbers above my target's head.

If hemo has to be tweaked to compensate, so be it, it's doesn't do sh*te anyways.

What do you guys think about some of the alternative solutions proposed, like buffing sub bleeds a la Maz and his kitty cat?

Maz, go level a rogue. From about level 40-64 you can 2 shot almost anything with premed > ambush > evis.

Also, why is rogue PvP so much fun? It's so cool when you get to use different openers and finishers and using your cooldowns well to kill multiple allies <3

On a sidenote, I've got 63.3gb of raw material for the critpron video after deleting a whole bunch of rubbish, this is going to kill my HDD Smiley: lol
I think I've got maybe 4-5 minutes of good material, excluding an intro/outro so make that 6 minutes of video.

Oh and I had some of the most epic fun in AB yesterday, sapping 2 people who were trying to cap our base for about 20 seconds before the paladin consecrated. (edit: I should note here that I had about 50hp left and just vanished after killing a previous attacker and getting caught out of stealth and from range by the aforementioned 2)
I was laughing my ass off, then I noticed that fraps wasn't running Smiley: frown

Same happened to me when I was playing around with a keyboard turning shaman who was trying to cast a LB at me for about 10-15 seconds before I finished him off.

60 GB for 4 minutes of video? What the hell, man?

What resolution did you record that in?

Notice the word 'good'. There's probably about an hour of material, it's just that that would result in only 4-5 minutes of PvP movie.

I see. So, other than the Ambush and Eviscerate crits, what did you record?

Oh and I'm totally going to use the first 40 seconds of this video for the intro of the video.

(Sadly I couldn't find the track on it's own on youtube but the following song is cool too)

Edit: Don't play this out loud at work or something.

That certainly is less mainstream.

Was imagining Lore of the Arcane by Hammerfall, or something, but a woman climaxing? Sure, why not.
