The Serial Reroller ThreadFollow

My name is Sola Roe, and I am a serial reroller. And if that sounds like something straight out of Alcoholics Anonymous, the vast majority of WoW players think that it should, but I don't agree, and maybe there are others out there who don't agree.

A serial reroller is someone who keeps rerolling new toons and levelling them. In my case, I get tired of toons quickly and keep getting the urge to try new race and class and equipment combos, so, since I started playing WoW in roughly June 2011, I've never gotten a toon past level 56, and all but four of my toons have not reached level 30. I also have a habit of deleting old toons when I get tired of them, and have yet to regret deleting an old toon. I love the starting areas, I love levelling, I love level 10-14 and 15-19 BGs (as frustrating as they can be), and, most of all, I deeply enjoy trying out new wrinkles on new servers with new toons.

Most WoW players are severely bigoted against the way I enjoy the game. To them, the game begins at level 90 and the previous 89 levels are just something to get through as painlessly as possible. I've even been accused of playing like a child because serial rerolling "is what little kids do!" How ridiculous. But never mind the oppressive majority. A democratic country is defined by the fact that minorities can exist and prosper within it, in harmony and goodwill.

This is a call to all fellow serial rerollers to join this thread and discuss our common experience with our unique way of enjoying a wonderful MMO. Let's hear from you!

I have a level 90 main that I play most often, but I also really enjoy playing the low levels. I haven't done much since MoP was released, because there's so much high level content that I'm enjoying. But I have a bunch of toons of various levels spread across multiple servers and I don't see a problem with it. You're the one paying the subscription fee and this behaviour doesn't have any impact on anyone else, so why should they care if you enjoy constantly rerolling?

:) I like your attitude, Tellaria.

Just as an update, I had a gnome prot warrior with the honor heirloom shoulders whom I planned to BG during the Arathi call to arms going on right now to farm some honor for another loom. Just when she hit level 10 and was ready to start BGing, some very sweet panda lady gave me an amazing 300 gold to sign her guild charter, and the 300 gold lasted until my toon reached level 15 in terms of buying reasonably priced gear and stuff like Rumsey's on the AH. She farmed nearly 1,000 honor by the time she reached level 16. But there's this multiboxer hordie with three druids who look like turkeys, and my gal ran into his three toons about 41 times during the last two days and he killed her about 40 times. On one occasion he killed not only her but FOUR other Allies who were with her, all by his three selves. The only time Alliance got him was when there were eight of us against only the three of him, and the eight of us included two dpriests. So I got sick and tired of the jerk stalking me in every single Arathi and just gave up.

Right now I'm on another server with a brand new gnome warlock who reached level 6 in about 75 minutes of play. All she did was skip all the quests and mobs and farm some rares and higher level mobs: Gibblewilt to level to 2 and most of the way to 3, a few beer-loving troggs (the ones with kegs strapped to their backs) to reach 3. She then went looking for Great Father Arctikus and someone had recently killed him so he wasn't going to respawn for a while yet, and of course the Caverndeep Looter respawns only when there's a total solar eclipse of Neptune. (Blizz gotta do something about how rarely the Caverndeep Looter respawns.) So she went and farmed Timber, ran to Kharanos to learn mining and get a pick, farmed 10 copper ore in and around shimmer ridge to level to 5 by killing trolls, learned tailoring, put her 10 copper ore on sale on the AH, farmed copper ore, XP and linen cloth in the wendigo caves, got another 10 copper ore she smelted into bars and put on sale on the AH, levelled her tailoring to 17 by making bolts and crafting herself some basic armor and a brown shirt (I can't stand how the white shirts look on a pale-skinned gnome), and of course farmed Edan the Howler to hit 6 and go a ways beyond. Right now she's very close to 7 and the only reason I don't rush her to 10 in the next hour or so is that the Arathi call to arms is still going on and I don't want that scumbag multiboxer to start killing my lock the way he kept killing my warrior. I want to wait until the call to arms is over and I have some gold so I can buy AH gear in terms of what my toon can't craft for herself. Then I probably go affliction and just fling a bunch of DOTs and run away at the first sign of trouble.

Whew! That was quite a mouthful. Of course, the point of the whole exercise is to use this toon to farm the clothie loom shoulders and the Grand Staff of Jordan for future clothies on this server. I'll rotate WG and AB one by one until she hits 29, then any looms she has probably get switched over to a brand new freshly rolled dpriest or spriest and she becomes just a farming and AH selling toon. Sound good?

I believe it's called Altitis... Either way, you can tell from my sig that I am as such. I've just been too lazy to race my toons up to 90 lately. I've been a bum.

Bah, you ain't got nuthin' on me; look up the "Silverwynd" guild on The Scryers (US) and Moon Guard (US). Note that both guilds have exactly 22 characters -- 11 are mine, 11 are mom's.

<-- 50 slots full. Have been for over a year. At the end of Cata I had 11 85's and the rest in some sort of progress.

I like a lot of different aspects of the game, so on one hand I want to see how each class and spec works at end-game and end up maxing a lot of them, but on the other, I get these random urges like "Ooo a tauren pally would be fun," so I roll one and play it for a couple days then go back to other stuff and forget about it for days, weeks, months.

At some point, eventually, one of these random urges strikes and I realize I have no room left so I go about deleting whichever I care the least about (at that moment) so I guess I end up rerolling a lot of lowbies as well. I've never really invested into buying stuff or working up professions or anything.

As for people giving you grief for it, ***** em. I can't imagine rerolling and bouncing around as you do that you have a lot of long term guild attachments anyway so it's basically random trade/gen trolls giving you grief anyway I'm guessing. Or do what I do on my non-main servers - just don't divulge any of that and just be the anonymous new guy.

I'll admit though, it would drive me nuts never seeing the higher level content, but I wouldn't grief ya over it. I alt because I get to the end, see everything, don't feel like running around on the same toon all the time and want to see it from a different class. Eash to their own.
