A confusion I encounteredFollow

Alright so, Im very new to world of warcraft. I am a level 20 blood elf rogue. I am attempting to get my rep in undercity to exalted for the mount ( so cool). SO.. I have done every quest I can find from everywhere around brill to the hillsbrad foothills and then some and im like 3000 rep away from exalted. I cant find these 'dailys' people talk about and with the tabard I cant find any dungeons I can do except shadowfang keep and I can only complete it with my lvl 72 friend. So help on that would be nice but not the point. I heard about 'spillover' rep and tried some quests out in Orgrimmer. But as i did about 5 quests there I relized not even 1 Rep was gained through 'spillover' So not only can someone help me about my reputation impass but also can someone explain how this 'spillover' works please so I can try again?... Thanks for any help anyone might be able to add haha, Sorry Im such a newb to this but everyone was at one point huh? Also I have the starters edition, does that impact it at all?

The "Dailies" are fishing and cooking dailies. If you have not yet picked up these professions, you cannot do these dailies. Otherwise they are found within UC and they would award xp, gold/silver/copper, and rep.

In addition, the spillover is better depending on the continent. If you are trying to get UC rep, you get your best spillover from BElfs, not Org.

And as for dungeons, if you click on the little green circle near the bottom of your screen (next to your quest log and such) you can queue for random dungeons with random people and build your rep that way.

Yeah, think that's all I have for this question.

First off there is absolutely nothing wrong with being new to a game. I know there are a vocal group of people who treat new players like scum but you are far from it. We were all new at one point in time.

That said zestra gave some solid advice. I am just going to touch a bit on his topics and expand and all that jazz. *jazz fingers*

I would highly recommend picking up cooking and fishing. Also do the dailies for those every day and work on leveling them together. A lot of cooking recipies call for various fish you can, well, fish up. Not to mention the food that you can cook at higher levels will give you pretty nice stat bonus's. For Horde the cities are Undercity, Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff. The only catch is you have to be level 10. Also they will reward you with 250 reputation every time you complete them.

If you want to go the dungeon route you will have a slightly harder time. There are faction vendors in each of the major cities where you can purchase various things like 16 slot bags, blue capes and a tabard which will allow you to gain rep in dungeons with that specific faction.

If you want to gain rep while questing you should stay in northern Eastern Kingdom. Arathi Highlands should be your next stop if you already have completed Hillsbrad Foothills. Although if memory serves me correctly you shouldn't be done with Hillsbrad until you are 25ish. Of course I have old fart brain so I might be totally wrong. Smiley: tongue

Unless something has changed the starter edition only lets you advance to level 20 and you're already there. Since it replaced earlier trial games, it may also have some other limits. In order to progress further, you may have to buy a copy of the game and pay a monthly subscription fee. Once you do that, you'll find that the other advice you were given is pretty solid.

I would like to take this moment to THANK you for at least spelling the name of your class correctly.
New or not to the game, that is a commendable thing.

Now, I might be wrong (please, someone correct me if so), but I was under the impression that "spill over" reputation stopped at a certain point?

And just so you know... I haven't been able to get a single one of my characters to exalted (which I like to call "exhausted") with another city faction until well into their 40's.

So you have a distinct advantage here. You're WAY more dedicated to the cause that I ever was! Congrats :)

Heheh - I have a currently level 47 Warrior who is exalted with all of the Horde race factions and has been since before level 40. Of course I also have dragged him through dungeons wearing a tabard and have completely quested out every zone up to about level 40. Oh yeah, and I turn his experience gains off every so often so I can quest through the zones without outleveling them. It's been a fun project but I know he is totally the exception to the way normal people level. LoL

Anyways - I do believe that the spillover rep stops at a certain point, so ideally you would quest everywhere except the Undead places to get all the spillover rep you can and then go do the quests that specifically grant Undercity rep.

Except for the cooking and fishing dailies, most dailies are level restricted and require you to be close to level 70 to get them. It's possible that Blizz may go back and include more lower level dailies but I doubt it since most players don't spend a lot of time at the lower levels.

The best way to grind city faction rep really is to just get the tabard and queue up for the random dungeons (or have a friend drag you through them of course). It may seem tedious but compared to the limited ways you had to build up city rep in the original game, the tabard method is super easy. (Originally, rep gains were much smaller for quests and there were no tabards and the main method was cloth turn-in repeatable quests.)
