armorsmithing problemsFollow

I'm a lvl 515 Blacksmith (lvl 85 character) and I can't seem to get on the path to specialize in armorsmithing (or weaponsmithing) I follow the paths laid out here (or in wowwiki) but after asking the trainer in SW to "tell me about ______" he sends me to the guy around the corner who says "go away I'm busy". I also can't get Hank the Hammer to talk to me, and I know he's the one who's supposed to start the mithril order quest. I've requested a help ticket from Blizzard, they said they can't help with "design issues?!?" I even tried it with a lower level character (Started a DK) but can't get anywhere. What am I missing? Is it a server issue? (I'm on Maiev)

As of WoW patch 4.0.1 the blacksmithing specializations of Armorsmith and Weaponsmith have been removed from the game. However, there is an article to preserve the information relevant to the now-deprecated Blacksmithing Specialization.

well that explains it then! Thanks for clearing that up! So I'm not missing out on anything by not having the specialization?

I don't think you are. As I recall, all those patterns are for mid/lower levels. So I don't think your 85 is really missing anything.

Thanks again!

The only problem that came of this removal patch, was that blacksmiths at the time only remembered or kept the recipes for the specialty they had known at the time.

A pre-patch armorsmith knew the Outland armorsmith recipes and still knew them after the patch. However, that same armorsmith was and is unable to learn any of the other pre-patch Outland specialty recipes because Blizz removed them from the trainers completely. Same goes for all the other blacksmith specialties.

I've yet to hear a reasoning or explanation why this is.

The different kinds of blacksmithing specialties were somewhat important in Vanilla.

I'm not even sure if they exist anymore; if they do they are unimportant

The problem that I have with this is that when Blizz said that they were removing specializations from the game in regards to blacksmithing, they also had said they were to allow those of us that did specialize the ability to learn the other specialization recipes and the items were to become BoE instead of BoP. Well, they never followed through on either aspect and I never had gotten a response from any blue poster on the WoW forums when I brought up the issue. So imo, albeit only a small factor in the game, Blizz really screwed up on this and a lot of older Blacksmiths feel the same way. I mean let's face it. I could be selling Blazefury's and Lionheart Executioner's for transmog gear since so few of us older players remain on the Farstriders realm Horde side. <sarcasm> Thanks Blizz! </sarcasm>
