'Just the Tip'? 'Camel Tow'?Follow

I just started playing again about a week ago, and finally started taking my Rogue through the Cataclysm content.

I'm used to finding cheeky puns and jabs in NPC/quest names, but sweet Jesus, they really pushed the envelope this time around it seems. I found those two quest titles hilarious, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised to read them. Especially 'Just the Tip'...

Anyways, I'm bored at work and just figured I'd try sparking a discussion about it, or feel free to list off some more particularly funny or shocking content you've come across in-game.

It's sad that quest names like those were kept in the game, but hilarious /silly emotes were removed because of angry soccer moms.

I love how wow has references and jokes everywhere. Also, I think they should have removed soccer moms instead.

Not to mention, Snurk Bucksquick and her quite obvious passes she makes at any guy who talks to her.

She's been in Orgrimmar since Vanilla, and even after the Cataclysm, she's still there, still wanting to show a guy just how much of a real jungle cat she can be.

If she was a guy going after females, there would have been a sh*tstorm already

It's not just Moms, fyi. During the Cata beta I remember a Dad posting a thread complaining about the sexual nature of some of the new racial jokes. He played the game with his son and was worried about exposing him to those things. Most of us concurred that if he didn't like it, he shouldn't let his son play those races or the game in general, and that the vast majority of the players liked the jokes.

I still miss "I eat two dwarves in the morning, I eat two dwarves at night..."

all i have to say to the soccer moms is suck it up this game is rated Teen for a reason and that most kids playing this game will not get the references unless they were already brought up around that information. All these big company's need to stop bowing to the soccer moms/dads since its those same parents that buy the games for their kids well knowing what the rating of the game is need to know they have agreed that there is as the box puts it ; suggestive themes, blood, use of Alcohol and violence. IF the parents to happen to not look at the ESRB rating thats their own fault for putting that content in their children's hands.

Yup, that was a male troll joke that was supposed to be there on release. Apparently a lot of people thought it was distasteful and complained, so they took it out. Talking about cannibalism is apparently okay, but talking about WHICH people you want to eat, not okay.

I think it was because it was a reference to a song about drugs.

Not to say that's not eminently pointless. I mean, all songs are about drugs.

I tried to read this post, but your grammar is so god-awful that I couldn't.

Can I get a translation into English?

It's not that bad Theo, I could read it fine. S/he is saying that parents shouldn't let their kids play video games that are rated Teen if they don't want them to be exposed to teen type stuff. And that video game companies should stop bowing to parents that do this. I completely agree with the sentiment.

Nah, more like...

"If the parents can't look at the ESRB rating, they have no business complaining about what the game has in it after they buy it".

Which IS a valid point.

If the game says "Mature" on it, you don't buy it for your 14-16 year old kid and then whine about what's in the game.

I know WoW isn't rated "Mature", but that was an exaggerated example. If I remember right, it is not rated because "Experience can change during online play" I think it says. That means you (well, your kid) could log on and at any moment, your oh-so-vulnerable teen might be bombarded with mature concepts from adult players.

Edit: Afterthought: Not to mention, if the "kid" knows the joke behind things like "Camel Tow" and "Just the Tip", then I highly doubt that stuff like this is anywhere near new to them. You can't "corrupt" something that's already "corrupted", right?

Could have been written by someone whose native language is not English.

But yes, with a little thought, I was able to piece together what they meant.

I don't know about you, but when I type (or speak) in a foreign language, the first and last things I say are always "sorry for my poor French/Italian/Japanese/etc".

Because I know how hard it is for someone to hear me butcher their language.

That said, I doubt it's an ESL post.

Yeah, but what I mean is people that aren't very familiar with the language and grammar/sentence structure.

You're new here. Just a general tip, it doesn't really start you off on the best foot to pop in and tell people how they should and shouldn't post when you're new somewhere.

If they can play it on the radio, if they can show it on basic television, if you're children can here it on the play ground it's not going to be as damaging as the sheltering you're doing to them now. If the children are home schooled then why are they playing wow? If you've seen any of these new cartoons kids are watching, you've laughed at stuff that should go over the younger ones heads, so if they keep the jokes out of context anyone that would get offended has the dirty mind.

That, I completely agree with.
