...I just can't seem to get excited about getting on. I guess my big issue is that there is nothing I really want to do in game anymore.

Blargh! Anyone else run into this?

I am basically getting ready for MOP. Get all the BOA, bags, Mounts (pink strider and motorcycle), pets, gold and material (for professions).

Smiley: nod

End-of-expansion lull. Not much new happening until the pre-MoP stuff, whenever that might be, so not much reason to get on. I've got a nest egg I'm happy with, a few 85s ready to chase down level 90, and transmog sets for everyone. My only log-in over the last couple of weeks was to get the bunny polymorph for my mage and collect a couple of auctions.

Maybe after a bit of a break I'll be ready to go again, and I may sneak back for darkmoon fair and holidays, but mostly am content to leave things be for a while.

The more time I have to play, then the more things I realize I would like to do with all my ~17 characters. But work has been busy this year, and I'm only finding a few hours each week to play. Then a good part of those hours are spent managing full mailboxes on most of them. This doesn't leave much time left over to take one or two characters through some long enjoyable quest lines. So then I feel like it's just a chore to log on, and I don't particularly want to do anything. If I was able to set aside even 2 hours an evening, that would probably improve my interest, but my schedule doesn't allow it. <sigh>

Take a vacation on a different server. Set up fresh toons for whichever faction you don't usually play and create toons that are different from what you've been playing. YMMV, but I find this usually helps me break out of a rut.

I was certainly - solo questing was wearing thin after weeks of the same dailies. Enter different server, different goals and different GUILD. Same character type (85 hunter) but my slant changed a little. Now I'm trying to master every profession possible, even knowing that some will have to be dropped so can start others. More to the point, my new guild wasn't top-heavy with 85 raiders, and are a pretty social bunch to begin with. They proved to be very friendly, happy to have me and unstinting in their help, both in knowledge and muscle when the nee arose. In turn, I've gotten involved in helping the lower levels come along, and in heroic level dungeon crawling and occasional raiding, with some of them - in over 16 months of playing, the first friends I can say I met online.

Now I look forward to playing.

I just got back into the game after a year's vacation, and there are times when I can't bring myself to log in, but I've had fun getting back into PvP. Even with sh*tty gear I was blowing people up, and now that my gear is getting better I rarely die, which makes PvP more fun.

I'm even enjoying AV and IoC, which has never happened.

Still don't like BfG. Terrible BG.

That said, I need to make gold for MoP, so I can't really take a day off from dailies. I'm up to 4k-ish, but I'd like to have 10-20k by the time MoP is out.

EDIT: Transmog has really saved the game for me, though. I hated running around in sh*tty-looking gear. Now I always have the best-looking set of gear on my rogue (S4) with the best-looking daggers (S3). Smiley: grin

I haven't logged on in over a month. My buddy at work joked about deposing me from the guild. I'm just so busy lately, and what time I do get for gaming is going to Mass Effect 3.

The MoP world event cannot get here soon enough, however, I don't see that happening anytime within the next 3 months. I'm going to assume that summer will trump any new content for the simple reasons that people have too much going on and will be less likely to log on.

Looking at Blizzards track record, I'm going to guess 5.0 drops in October, MoP in November for the holidays and such, that would make a it great gift and Blizzard can then boast about sales numbers.

I haven't logged in for a couple months now, mostly because my 6 month payment bounced (oops!), but in truth I was getting kind of burned out anyways.
I've been goofing around on Lord of the Rings Online since then, and it's been a refreshing change. I recently got a Diablo 3 beta invite and have been testing that, but it seems pretty polished so no real testing. I did renew my WoW account when word of the beta invites went out, but so far nothing yet, and I'm now thinking I don't want to get an early peek and instead savor it for the real release.

Yep, this happens to me. I always log in for my two guild raids per week, but sometimes I won't log in outside that because there's nothing I particularly want to do. I know that eventually I will find something I want to do in game (currently I'm spending every spare minute on my multi-box team), but I don't see the point in logging in when there's nothing I actually want to be doing in game. I'd rather watch DVDs or read a book, maybe even go outside. If I don't ever feel like logging back in then I'll know it's time to move on to something different.

My advice would be to take some more weeks/months of. If you come back for the MoP event you won't be missing anything and (hopefully) will have renewed energy (gamewise) and motivation due to the break.

Yep, I'm about ready for another break. I enjoy having a game to play for unwinding purposes, but like everyone else here, my time is limited. So I only play one at a time, and I've gotten to the point with WoW where it's my default when I haven't got anything better. As soon as something shinier comes along, I'll cancel my sub again.

This happen to me about a year or so ago. I made it to 85 on my DK, dungeons were still being learned, heroics took 2-3 hours to finish one (because no one was geared), I started to get bored due to not getting stuff done. So I quit to go play RIFT, then back to FFXI, then SWTOR. I however came back the other month when they did the Rez Scroll deal. I leveled my Tanking Warrior from 80 to 85, and am having a bit more for then before because I can actually get stuff done and gear up. Also the new Dungeon system is nice (where I could run 7 dungeons in a day to get my points, rather than one a day) and has made it easier and not make it feel I have to log on each night.
I agreed to the 1 year deal, so I'll do that. But next Monday Terra should becoming out and I've been following that game for years now. I'll be giving it a try as well while waiting on MoP.

Getting burned out on a MMO happens to me in all the ones I play. I find playing a few at 2-3 months each can keep them fun.

Fun Fun. I figured I was not that only one. I will just take the break and come back to it once I am ready.

I think the biggest thing that killed my gusto for the game was the changes to glyphs. What bothered me was that I had just spent a ton of time doing research to learn all sorts of glyphs, and now those are probably all going away.

I feel like all my work is going to get flushed away.

Most of the glyphs are getting baked into the abilities they originally modified, like Hemo. Now glyphs are going to be what Blizzard originally intended: flavor to make classes more fun.

Even when I enjoyed the game this would happen. I usually mixed up PvP or Achievement farming to help or fired up another game and just logged in to raid.

As others mentioned it's the end of an expansion and there really isn't much to do in terms of new content. It is a good time to AH mats, clear bags and go outside and enjoy the weather.

Happens to me often, what I do is just stop playing for a month or so. Then when I go back on everything just seems to be a lot more exciting. Ask about more guild events and do more raids that are challenging with lower level characters! I find a challenge makes the game a lot more interesting for me. Try a new class or race that you've never levelled before because each one has different storylines etc.

And if none of that seems to excite you, just go to places that you've never been to before, explore and meet other people. Just what works for me, you know?

I always see it as the min/max issue. Since I can only get 1k VP within a week I just play one night, do cata raid finders, miss loot, wait a week till resets; although, I started a Priest-alt, but I am doing the something with it strange enough: Play 1 or 2 dungeons and log off for the day (usually spend about 1 hour playing). That's my issue. I know that if they removed that min/max for valor points... well, idk, I am sure they do this either to lessening farmers or to keep you playing for the long run. Well played Blizzard, well played.

It's not uncommon for me to play hard for a few months then suddenly not log on for a few, and repet the cycle. I <3 Wow but I don't revolve my life around it. Last time I played I was on a big Pvp kick for a long time. Got tired of that and didnt log on for all of march. Now I'm back going full on hard doing FL dalies on some alts I neglected. I'm sure I'll get bored of that and not log on for a while lol.

Generaly tho when I do take a break from the game I do come back enjoying it.
