Awesome, I was disappointed at the lack of Troll raids in LK.
Even they are 5 man (!) now....

Edit: Looks as if Frost is going to be nerfed to the ground.... not like my magi will change AWAY from it, but it's something to note....

As Zul'Aman returns, you may feel curious whether you can once again get a rare mount. We are pleased to announce the new version of the rare raptor, tiger and bear mounts will be able to be obtained, while the older mounts will still retain their uniqueness. We will disclose more in the future as to how these mounts are obtained.
I'm cool with that.

I wonder if the 'speed run' method will still be used in ZA? That could be interesting in a pug run.

Good question.

Also:

According to your research, this great weapon was one of the many treasures of Hakkar the Soulflayer in Zul'Gurub. Hakkar was defeated years ago, and this sword passed through the hands of many powerful warriors and paladins before apparently becoming sundered. It is remarkable that you have been able to reforge it, but also a little troubling: if the Destroyer of Worlds has returned, perhaps the Soulflayer is not far behind.
Oops. My bad. I think I doomed us all.

Oh! Maybe I can re-cross my fingers for Kara 2.0.

Wait, they're only doing minor balancing fixes with this patch? That's funny, because half of specs are under-performing enough for it to be an issue right now.

Oh great.

20 Second Cooldown on Word of Glory?

WTF ever gave them the idea that this is a good idea?

WoG is the -only- healing method Ret Paladins have (unless you don't mind casting Divine Light... oh wait, it only heals for 12k and eats a huge chunk of mana and is a long-casting spell...) and it -only- heals for 15k-ish.

15k every 20 seconds? That's -worse- than Frost Death Knights' Death Strike, now.

Hopefully, they will see that this is way overkill before this makes it to live realms.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but will someone explain how re-releasing ZG and ZA as end-game instances is really any different than re-releasing Naxxramas in Wrath, a decision which was decried by a large amount of players?

Beside the fact that we need more troll dungeons, of course.

You're also a dps spec and compared to a rogue or warrior you're doing pretty good on healing, not to mention the fact that you're not exactly depending on that healing.

The vague hope that they'll properly remake those instances into all new instances, ZG/ZA after players conquered it and after the cataclysm?

Considering how they did Deadmines and SFK, there is a good reason for some hope.

Are they buffing Mangle and Maul damage while nerfing Thrash again?

After telling Bear Druids that their level 85 AOE threat is fine?

Really?

Smiley: dubious

Or maybe these are just tooltip corrections. Bleeds also took a hit again. Can't possibly be serious.

ZG's definitely going to be tweaked, since leveling through STV results in the bat boss being smeared all over the landscape. They'll probably replace her with Zanzil, make Jin'do the end boss (with some locking method to stop people from hitting him first and leaving), not sure about the guys other than Snake and Bloodlord. ZA I wouldn't mind with minor mechanics changes, for some reason the troll instances never get old for me.

There seems so be something written on the troll brain that says "eating our gods: what a good idea!"

Oh, I completely missed that ZA and ZG will be heroic 5-mans that give out epics.

That's a tooltip update to a hotfix, when they stopped Thrash bleed damage from being affected by armor. You'll notice that the Aspect of the Hawk change is listed too, and that one's live.

This is different than Naxx because they're 'just' five man dungeons, not tier defining raids. That would be Abyssal Maw with Ragnaros (lol justasetback and whatnot). Abyssal maw being completely new, and ZA and ZG being reworked as 5 mans to use current lore, that makes up for the 're-using' of assets, IMO.
#19 Feb 24 2011 at 12:55 PM Rating: Good
Yeah and for those of us who didn't see much of ZG and ZA, it's not going to feel much like recycling. I think I did ZG once or twice in Vanilla on my lock, and I did ZA once on my mage with guildies when she was like, 74 or 75.

I never raided at all in Vanilla (which is sad, since I've been playing since launch). It'll be nice to see them actually.

Abyssal maw is a 5 man in Vashir that from the sounds of it is being pushed back to the next major patch. The Firelands is the raid that features Ragnaros. Ragnaros being in the Abyssal Maw would be very weird....

From the patch notes in regards to 5-man heroic ZA/ZG
"To provide a new tier above the current Cataclysm dungeons, players can expect to find epic-quality item level 353 loot"

Does this mean it'll be a purple item free for all? Walk in, kill boss, get purple?

It seems like there's nothing epic about an item if it's easier to obtain than a rare. I don't want this to turn back in to WOTLK where everyone had purples and there was nothing unique or special about getting them.

Just my 2cents.

Is there anything unique or special about getting epics in Cataclysm?

Rep rewards: Just slap on a tabard and go run some dungeons until you hit exalted and poof, free epics. Unless you're a Rogue/Feral Druid, of course. We get a ring. My Paladin got a cloak, belt and a pair of boots. Makes sense, right?

Raids: I'm seeing PUGs forming already for some of the raids. Just show up in ilvl 350+ gear. Which you, ironically, can't get as a Feral Druid, unless you buy epics at the AH (bought with gold made by running dailies or farming crap on end), or do PvP.

It's already like WOTLK, except people actually bother grinding reputation for the epics. As people did in early WOTLK as well. Once ZG/ZA give out epics as well, we're back to WOTLK heroics. If ZA/ZG gives out epics then they'd have to buff the other heroics to also give out such rewards. If not, everyone will queue up for ZA/ZG and the queue times would get even worse.

Which would be hilarious.

To be honest, I'm finding Blizzard's current expansion strategy hilarious at the moment.

To me there is, back in BC I would see people in epics from raids, heroics, and rep. I didn't get much of that because I was still new. In WOTLK, I benefited from the ease of getting purples but I wasn't marveling at them the way I would at players in BC. To me, Cata makes is fun and interesting to do the rep grindes and collect badges, figuring what's a better upgrade to spend on.. Again, I'm comparing to BC, which i didnt get to experience as much as I would've liked.

Please keep in mind I'm comparing WOLK and CATA, which I have experienced to BC, which is mostly based on perception and my understanding at the time of the game at the time. (Started wow in 2.1)

The problem with Naxx2.0 was that they trivialized the content without adding anything new or interesting to it.

I agree with the above, after seeing Deadmines and SFK heroics, I have a lot of hope that Blizz learned the Naxx lesson.

Plus, new mounts =) Huzzah!
