"is mage or roge night elve."?

do you mean "Can a Night Elf be a mage or rogue?"? if so, Night Elves can NOT be mages, although throughout all the books Illidan Stormrage (main boss in TBC) is described as having powers of a mage and is even trained by a human mage.

PS- Hunters are totally the biggest class, but they're easy to solo with. If you like PvP go with a Rogue, either Night Elf or Human depending on if you want the Perception skill or just to look cool (WoW humans are fugly imo).

Play whatever you enjoy. Yes, there are a lot of hunters. What they fail to say is that there aren't enough good hunters. If you play well and can keep your beast under control, you will be needed.

what about palbitines
#5 Dec 20 2006 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
palbitines? paladins, do you mean? or do you mean "palpatine" as in "Chancellor Palpatine"? if you mean Palpatine then you're playing the wrong game, you should switch to Star Wars: Galaxies if you want to see Chancellor Palpating (better known as the Emperor) lol.

if you mean paladins, they're pretty hard to play. they don't do much dmg compared to a warrior and don't heal as good as a priest. just like a warrior though, they're kinda hard to solo with due to aggro management, even in lower lvls when you dont have the shield spell. oh and night elves cannot be paladins, only humans and dwarves.

By the sounds of your indecision, you need to roll a hunter first, give it a try, then roll a mage, give it a try, and continue on until you find something you like.

Try leveling them to level 15-20 and see what you think, you will get a pretty good idea at that point.

Palpatine would most likely be an affliction lock.

Roll a silly Gnome Mage.

Your choice of character just relates back to what you ultimately enjoy doing. Granted, my server (and many others) tend to have a shortage of priests, warriors and druids in end-game. That is not to say that you should play those characters. Any character you play will find a place in a guild somewhere, and you'll still be able to experience the game to the fullest.

But he took the arcane path before the War of the Anchients. After the demonic invasion was repelled, the surviving night elves saw their error and schewed away from the arcane path to become priests and druids instead. Those that disagreed left for the eastern kingdoms to become the high elves.

Elves can be mages, but Night Elves gave up the ability when the sunwell was destroyed. Blood Elves retain the ability by using stolen mana.

Err, no. The night elves tapped from the Well of Eternity, which was destroyed towards the end of the War of the Anchients. Then the night elves decided to stop using arcane magic, and decided to focus to other teachings, mainly Elune, the Moon Goddess and Cenarion, the Forest Lord (though their source was nature itself, not the Demigod Cenarius).

Just before the Well of Eternity was destroyed, Illidan Stormrage saved bits of it in vases. After the war, we poured the content into a small lake, giving it the power of the original Well. He was accused of treason and imprisoned. The new Well was covered by the Tree of Eternity.

Some of the night elves didn't agree. They left towards the eastern kingdoms to erect Quel'Thalas and become the high elves. They somehow managed to take some of Illidan's water and did the same as him to a lake in Quel'Thalas, thus creating the Sunwell. This well was later destroyed by Arthas Menethil, causing the high elves (not the night elves, they lost it ages ago) to lose their source of power.

Aye, if Illidan can cast spells it's because he was part of the old elven "highborne" who were addcited to magic, many of them died in the war of the ancients against the burning legion, some survived but were prohibited from tapping into magical energies, being addcited they decided to leave their cousins and sail to the new eastern kingdoms and found their own kingdoms where they could continue using magical energies feeding from the Sunwell they created there and become High Elves who ended up becoming Blood Elves when Arthas razed their kingdom to the ground and massacred their people.

Yet others survived the explosion of the well of eternity but were captured in the maelstrom and the remnant magicla energies deformed and mutated them into the Naga.

So anyways Illidan new how to use magic thousands of years before men were taught to use them by their High elven cousins so whatever.

dunno if it was directed at me or not but it was stupid enough to deserve the reply.

Yes, but only humans and gnomes can be warlocks. Dwarves are not constitutonally able to consort with demons, and Night Elves have this "thing" against magic. When TBC comes out, Draenei are also on the "not a warlock" list.

If your friend is going to be Alliance and you are determined to be a warlock, then he should not choose to be a Night Elf. The starting areas are separated by too great a distance and it's a very dangerous trip to go to the other person's starting area at low levels.

Though you can solve the problem if you know a highlevel mage or warlock on the server who can make you a portal.

Illidan knew about magic long before humans even existed.

Ugh, Luciene, I'm sorry for spoiling :( Should've known there could be people here that still got WotA on their to read list...

He's a troll for sure. Nobody can spell that bad without trying. At least I hope not. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THE WORLLLLLLLLLLLLLLD?!?!?!?!
#26 Dec 22 2006 at 11:05 PM Rating: Decent
The class you would want to play depends on how good you are at gaming and how much of a challenge you want.
If you want to rule the pvp battlegrounds, solo well and pretty much have everything handed to you on a silver platter, play a lock. Blizzard has given them everything, they are not a challenge;
they are a no brainer to play because all they know how to do is fear when they get into trouble so they need no talent or brains to speak of imo. I am not bitter or anything tho :P
