Does anyone know the price of flying mounts and the cost of training to fly one?
#2 Dec 19 2006 at 7:04 AM Rating: Decent

Actually I'm not sure. I've heard anywhere from 3-7k :/

Well, I wanted an exact answer. I'm sure someone should know considering the test realms are out, or do they not include prices in them?

around 1000g for training, and around 10000g for the mount.

Unless they changed it from before, it was around 5k for a flying mount (total)

there are 2 prices that look like they make sense to me
100g = lvl 40 mount
1000g = lvl 60 mount
10.000g = lvl 70 mount
so your next mount is 10 times as expensive as your current one
or:
100g = lvl 40
1000g = lvl 60
5000g = lvl 70
because there are only 10 levels between 60 and 70 instead of 20 between 40 and 60.
offcourse i could be completely mistaken.. because i dont know how fast you can make money beyond lvl 60...

Why answer if you don't even know and are just guessing?

The flying mounts themselves aren't that expensive. It's the riding skill that's expensive. There's also 2 types of flying mounts, a regular one and an epic one, just like the landbased mounts. Both require level 70 (though druids receive a flight form at level 68). The flying mount is required to reach certain content. The epic flying mount is not required at all. It's just a lot faster.

You need 225 riding skill for a flying mount, 300 riding skill for an epic flying mount.

Upgrading your riding skill from 150 to 225 costs 900g. Upgrading from 225 to 300 costs 5000g.

The flying mounts cost 100g. The epic versions cost 200g.

At the moment there are no special mounts for paladins and warlocks.

I'm quite sure there have been blue posts on the O-boards stating they won't get them either. They have to buy them just like everybody else (except druids).

Is it true you have to have Exalted Rep with the Windhammer Clan in order to get a flying mount for BC?

this is fairly good info though I believe the 300 skill costs more like 4500.

Maybe the 4500 includes a 10% discount?

You don't need Wildhammer exalted for your mount. Heard some rumors that the people you buy the mount from are from the Wildhammer faction. If so, getting honored with the Wildhammer clan should reduce the price of the mounts (not the riding skill) by 10%, but that's only 30g we're talking about for the normal and epic mount together.

Since this is here, may as well ask.

I heard rumors floating around that Druids get the 225 mount skill when they get Flying form. I think it's kinda doubtful since that means they could use a flying mount 2 levels earlier (unless the mounts require lev 70 to buy/use)

Also, has it been revealed what happens with Hunter/Lock pets and flying, and the "Critter" pets?

Blizzard said druids would receive Riding 225 with their flight form, but this is currently not implemented. It's unknown if this is yet to come, or that Blizzard changed minds.
