Can't wait til the snowballs are gone!!!!Follow

Just have to rant about AV and snowballs... I have been killed by my own team 4 times over the weekend while in AV. Knocked off the bridge three times while low on health, and trying to heal, and once knocked into a mob of hordes.

It was funny the first time, but then grew old pretty damn quick. Its ok to have a good time and all, its a game after all; but when you start to make others not have a good time, then its not ok.

It's just frustrating when your trying to play and win, while getting some honor along the way and your own team is playing against you too. It's like getting Team killed in Socom III!!!

Sorry, but I had to just go off on this!

I completely agree.

It hasn't been funny since the first day... Even then it was barely a /chuckle.

the hardpacked snowballs are the greatest thing since sliced bread. its like blizzard specifically designed them to wipe horde who were using the vanndarr exploit.

not to mention the increasingly popular game of AFKer Golf.

I actually had to kick a mage out of an instance run because he kept snowballing me which would knock me to the ground. I was the tank, and couldn't focus on other targets cause of it.

The first couple groups of mobs it got annoying and I warned him to quit doing that, and just like a lot of people do when they see they are getting under someone's skin......they keep doing it more and more.

We finished that instance out down 1 person....

*BTW, the LFG system is really bad imo.

I'm with Quor on this one.

Probably because I play Alliance Defense in Alterac Valley.

Nothing like doing a Fear bomb and have your entire team launch a volley of Hardpacked Snowballs, causing all the Horde healers to take the plunge.

Blizzard loves me.

Agreed, this was a bad thing, when you are healing or resting and your teammates sit there with horde around us, they would rather throw snowballs...

THough not the worst thing to happen to me, though after hitting 60 the other day and doing bg's, it seems the allies stratergy at this level is to kill for honor and let horde win as quickly as possible, this has been said by many of people in bg's... so sad.

Glad I got to 60 and all with mage, but, maybe time to make a horde toon.

Are you sure they're allies? AV snowballs can be thrown at the enemy. A lock guildie of mine loves dotting an enemy and then snowballstunlock him.

No, but in AV there are snow drifts that you can loot and get Hard PAcked Snowballs, an AV only snowball with 5 minutes of life. They have decent knockback.

I never played AV during last years holiday but in AV the snowballs knock people in the air like 50 feet, its nuts. You can only carry 5 at a time and they are on a timer.

Snowballs are the same as they were last year outside of AV.

I too can't wait until these snowballs are gone. I was in UBRS with a PuG via the new system. There are a few now that have worked out really well for me, but I digress. We were having a really excellent run. However this unguilded one kept pinging everyone with snowballs. Specifically a Mage (i can't remember, something that needed mana) everytime they tried to drink. Thus using up the drink, as well as making her stand up. She was to the point of utter frustration and we were all telling him to stop. She almost left the party which would have brought us down. Luckily he ran out, then some Rogue bounced on us near the final boss. Then we 9 manned the finish ;) Quite the experience. Got my Beaststalker Chest piece in the process :D.

But ya, snowballs = annoying sheet

In MC the other night, it seemed that 3/4 of the raid had snowballs (and the rest had snowballs after we portaled out to repair after Magmadar).

We were having so much fun with them while waiting for everyone to show up, the raid leader had to threaten to kick people who threw them at the tank during a pull.

Everybody just did the "Yes, Ma'am." thing. And it was quiet ... until a pull on a lava pack. One of the rogues (newbie to the raid group) decided that would be a good time to snowball the MT AND one of the warlocks responsible for banishing one of the elementals.

They booted him from the raid so fast I think his head is STILL spinning.

And the snowballs disappeared after that ...

until we were waiting on folks to get back from random DC's to fight Golemagg and Sulferon.

Meh, you guys need to get a sense of humor. Soon as I heard about the hard packed snowballs in AV, I queued up to check 'em out.

I ended up queuing nonstop the rest of the night. I'd never had so much fun in AV. Was in more winning games than not (a rarity hordeside these days), and managed to get a couple games to last longer than 15 minutes - one even saw the Ice Lord guy summoned, and I haven't seen that since before they took the NPCs out!

No, I never used 'em against teammates, but there was plenty of fun to be had launching 'em at the other side. Everybody talks about the bridge, but there's lots of other fun cliffs. Snowfall graveyard ended up being my favorite spot - I could hold that myself against 2-3 much better geared people.

A couple of us had a contest playing AFKer hockey - seeing who would get the winning throw that knocked the AFKer out of the cave.

All in all, a very fun addition to what has become a boring PVE race of a BG after the NPC removal.

I love them, we have a couple of beggars on our server and some over guy who thinks he better than the rest of us and everyone throws snow balls at them, but I had the same problem in a instance of being knocked to the ground.

i think some people in this thread are confusing hard packed snowballs (an AV only item with a limited lifespan and cooldown on use) with normal snowballs (bought from the goblin vendors in each main city).

normal snowballs do nothing...unless youre partied with the person throwing them at you. then they knock you down for a second or two (and proc second wind if you have that talent....not that ive ever used that to my advantage in, say, AB). the key word in the first sentence there is "partied". not raid. PARTY. so in the case of that UBRS run mentioned above, all it would have taken was the leader moving the offender to his own party. at that point he can fling all the snowballs he wants and it wont do a damn thing but waste his snowballs.

now, in non-raidable content there is still an issue, yes, but at least theres a counter for any raid situation. and if you have an issue in a 5-man, then the best thing to do (if its annoying you) is to just kick the person. that, or just drop what youre doing and have a snowball fight. tis the season after all.

I love the snowballs, and I love the Winter's Veil stuff even though its always the same every year.

Earlier today in Scholo I would peg people everytime they sat down to drink. Did I feel bad about wasting their water? Not especially, considering I conjured it all.

I'm also quite fond of my green Santa hat with the arcanum of focus enchant on it.

Now addmitidly they are anoyying when alliance uses them on alliance, it can be real fun throwing at horde. Unfortunately in on eof the AVs i was in the alliance decided to turtle. SO i gathered snowballs and stealthed on the bridge and chucked em at passing hordes then jumped down and killed them. That was fun for me.

While I won't miss my own teammates doing crap to me, I will miss knocking AFK'ers out of AV.

Got 6 of em one game.

Good, I got killed twice and knocked from the tower once by my own teammate because of those dumb hardpacked snowballs.

Potato guns are fun. However hand it to a juvenile moron and the fun stops.

Same thing with snowballs.

It's a game I pay money to play and spend my time playing. Imposing on me when I don't want you to is theft of my life and harrassment. In the real world you get fired from your job for that kind of garbage no matter how much you say "It's just some harmless fun!" I have a sense of humor, but I don't see the humor in practical jokes in real life or game life for unwilling victims.
