This is an interview made last year. It might have been posted before and if so I am sorry for posting it again.

I quote:
"Mercury told us that the primary purpose of WoWglider is to allow busy people to "level up" their characters. When he first started playing WoW, Mercury felt left behind because his friends were already at level 60 and he had little time to catch up. "I also wanted to get to 60 to come along on the instance runs, but I had no time to grind it out between work and social life."

Why didn't he level up his char in the time it took to write Glider?

Thanks for the link though:)

Well I hope he looses the lawsuit that is supposed to be going on.

I hope he has to pay Blizzard's bloated legal fees.

Me too, it'd be nice to see him go to the poor house over this.

I think there are several reasons for him to do it. Biggest one is to test how the Eula and Tos stands up in court.

His ultimate aim is to get Blizz to remove Warden, because it constitutes "Restraint of business". I hope the judge is up on tech issues enough to laugh it out of court.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Molarean...

After all, if he does actually go to court, and Blizzard has to pay the legal fees, where do you think that money's going to come from? Lawyers aren't going to work free for Blizzard, and I can guarantee you nobody's going to take a pay cut for nailing the bot program so successfully.

Our monthly fee, instead of paying for programmers, developers or customer support, is going to go to a damn LAWYER, because this guy thinks he should have the right to develop and sell bot programs.

I hope he ahs to pay for the lawyers when he loses.

I also think that other gaming companies like Square Enix and Sony are looking at this case as well. I believe that the outcome of this case if it goes in Blizzards way will turn things around for the gold/gil/plat sellers as well as botters.

I have to say that this guy was at least a little clever for programing this, albeit a idiot for doing it. I am not condoning this action, just saying it is interesting that he came up with it.

I do hate him, however, because of what other people do with his program, gold selling things like that.

I think the best thing blizzard could do is add common terms to a few things that this mercury cracker has done, such as instead of calling him a botter, refer to him as a hacker or a pirate. With real terminology given to the judge, one they do not have to expiain ahat they mean, which means that the judge will have gained an immediate idea of what this guy is actually doing without having to learn a bunch of terminology that he will never need again asside from relating to his teenage nephew.
