AV strategy...how much longer?Follow

I do believe the fast 20 min losses we so cherished for the quick honor is over. history: I kept hearing about a 40 honor points diff btwn winning and losing...? So, after a few games I did the math and they were right. It is only 40 honor difference between a win and a loss provided all objectives are met. But, then I started writing down the scores of the next 65 games. Here's what I got: +134 more honor to Alliance per game (that's 1,134 more per 10 games, 11,340 more per 100 games, etc.,.)with a 18% win ratio for the Horde. Now I'm only in one server group (Scilla) so I can't speak for all the server groups out there but, where the hell did Mr. 40 points difference go? I've only seen him a couple times in past 100+ games.

First of all my hat goes off to the Alliance. They totally destroy us in all 3 battlefields on a very, very consistent rate. They should receive praise in their new found glory. I hope it continues for them for as long as we (Horde) decide to keep listening to these "honor farmers" and keep handing victories to the Alliance for the sake of what scraps, they decide, we can have. Whoever controls the BG controls what happens on it.

I like playing Horde more than Alliance. It's a totally different game atmosphere and I may never re-activate my Alliance characters. But as tough as the Horde used to be when I played Alliance we sure have turned into a bunch of powder puffs today. I remember when you couldn't kill a Horde. They came in packs and were absolutely devistating. Now I watch as 20 Alliance destroy 40 Horde at SP or SH and see them pulling Drekk before we even see the bridge.

I can hear Thrall wheeping now....

For The Horde

Part of the problem, from what I have seen in my many AVs is stuff like the following:

Horde insistence to fight on the bridge so that Alliance can bottleneck and pare them down. Why we continually do this, I will NEVER know.

Horde insistence to take the low road and fight in the bottleneck meatgrinder.

Players who are so afraid of getting killed they will not assist or attack unless they outnumber at least 5 to 1. Hello lightbulb, you DON'T take durability damage from being killed by another player idiot. Only pets and PvE type crap. Get your *** in there and fight or gtfo. For all your "leet" gear, you are a waste of a player in this BG if you are too afraid to mix it up in [gasp] Player Vs. Player. Grow a pair please.

Refusal to fight on the flag and 10 of them setting off to chase the lone bubble running paladin who is the bait that they fall for EVERY time.

The endless "my rank is higher, your gear sucks, you suck, lrn2D, lrn2play" or whatever else is being spouted by the elitist holier than thou militant PvPers who think their **** doesn't stink. You know what, we all start as noobs in PvP and we all have things we can learn regardless of whatever rank you got prior to the patch so spare me your diatribe and focus on the damned objective. And telling someone this kind of childish **** is probably the WORST way to get someone to do what you need them to. Here's a thought...try asking or maybe giving some direction Mr. "I have 5 60s and all are HWL so I know better" asshat.

The honor leechers who come in and go hide, go fish, go afk or generally provide zero use to the BG. You know what, if you have such a need to fish, skin or whatever it is you are doing, you should not do it where there are 39 other people counting on your ability to help them try to win.

Perfect example. Doing an AB two days ago against an ally PUG. We had some tool named Gordok or something Fishing the minute the game started. His response to the raid leader when asked wtf he was doing? "Well, I figured we would lose anyways so I wanted to work my fishing and get my badge". Wow....just....wow. That this kind of assclown can do this and get gear from being so completely useless to the group just totally stuns me. It really does.

The asshats who would rather argue, ***** and whine in the BG than actually shut up, work with the group and beat the alliance. YOu want to be pissed off, that's cool but agrue about this crap later. ***** later, win now. Makes sense maybe? Yeah, I thought so too. Now get your *** to SP and fight on the damn flag.

Really, I could give a **** about whether you are a general or a grunt. I don't care if you have won 30 other games, they are not THIS game so sftu and work with us. And I really don't care if your gear is better than mine or someone else's. While you are so busy being superior to the other 39 people in the BG, the ally tools are busy sweeping Galv, pulling Drek and kicking our ***. So do me and the rest of us who WANT to enjoy PvP and gain some honor and badges a favor and stfu and work with the team. OR get the hell out of the BG and make your own pre-made.

Ok /rant off.

As far as Alterac Valley goes, the bridge is the key problem. The alliance bowmen have a clear field of fire, so they help the defence immensely. It is hard to establish a bridgehead. The towers in the horde base are practically useless and easy to defeat.

The key to winning is to rush the alliance towers and destroy them. Lots of people want to rush the aid station, but that comes after destroying the towers. Lots of times the horde get control of the towers, but then goes to the aid station and loses the towers again (sometimes over and over).

The winning strategy is to simultaneously swarm both towers and hold them with enough people (3 or 4 or 10 as necessary) until they cap, then swarm the aid station and hold it till it caps, then single pull Van and gank him. I have done it lots of times and it works.

The losing strategy is to fight a seasaw battle between the bridge and the aid station with the tower bowman picking off your team.

AS an alliance player i have noticed you guys doing exactly what the first poster has said. To be honest though it is equally as frustrating on our side of the fence. We deal with the same issues you guys do. No fighting at flags, chasing the lone warlock/mage/rogue etc only to get sidetracked(And probably owned), honor farmers who never leave our cave, people who just ride by when you are getting ganked etc. I have often wondered if i should have rolled horde out of frustration. The key for you to win in AV is to zerg SPGY as quickly as possible and mount an offensive as Wordaen posted. I notice that way too often there is a fight for IBgy and the more resistance we meet there the more likely we are going to turtle. I hate turtles and would much rather race to finish, I'm sure you guys would like that too. It has been my experience that the horde have better players in pvp as a whole. SO much so that i wont get into an AB or WSG withought backup lol. So dont feel so bad I give you guys props as it's always a challenge to go against some really good pvp'ers and it's a sense of accomplishment when you win. I have gone against some really good players from Scilla and they own in premade Ab's. I think once the xpansion comes out and people are done farming their GM gear the real pvp'ers will have their day in the sun once more. Good Luck and look me up on the Battlefield.

Most people I've talked to today are still on this storm the sp gy and get up there quickly and so forth. Guys that's not how it's played...lol. This is a battlefield. This is where your best of the best PvPer's get to come out and show off their skills. Running down the field to tackle a bunch of NPCs is not PvP. If you want to fight NPCs then go to UBRs or something but get off the battlefield. Don't tell me because you can duel in front of Org that your a PvPer. PvP on the battlefield is where its at.

All I have to say is 1) If all your after is honor, 2) If you don't care if you win or lose, 3) If you do not care about playing the battlefield the way it was intended, 4) If fighting Alliance scares you then don't qeue up!

And lastly, the battlefield is not uneven, the players are. The straight ride to RH in FW keep can be stopped and the single pull on Vann can be stopped. The bridge is only a problem because the Horde make it a problem. This is the most evenly balanced battlefield you could ask for in my opinion. It's never been a huge topic of conversation until people (these recently found heroes)found out that they have to actually fight one another (uummmm PvP, right?)and outthink, and outmaneuver one another to gain an advantage.

Either do it right or don't do it at all.

Personally, I find that WSG and AB have more strategic options and are more fun to play than AV. AV is a serial bloodbath. There are very few options for outmaneuvering your opponents and not much strategic choice. Yes, there is some variability, but a lot comes down to who can get their team out of afk mode, rush the opposing base, and do the pulls correctly. The alliance wins a lot, but usually they only win by a couple of minutes on my server.

But I spend a lot of time in AV because it is cheap honor.

i do believe in quick AVs over long honor farm ones

im alliance, but its the same story with AB and WSG (which you guys dominate btw)

so when its 2/2 is wsg, i dont really care who wons, i just want my token and to get out

i was in a 6 hour AV, and with the honor nerf i have around 1.2 hk, and 1500 honor with out adding the win bonus

please blizz... fix the honor... cause the point was to get a GM/HW item and still have a life.... this isnt helping...
