Drastic item change, could use a little help here.Follow

So the patch hits, and suddenly one of my favorite throwing weapons, is no longer a weapon at all. Smiley: cry

However the item it transformed into is still soulbound and in my inventory...
I of course mean my beloved ninja star... The Silver Star.

It has turned into the Broken Silver Star. (please forgive the offsite link, I couldn't find it on Alla.)

They literally broke my favorite cosmetic weapon.
So my question is, has anyone found any way to fix it, by quest or other means?
I tried to repair it (I was desperate. lol) no dice.

It comes from one of the centaur faction quests out in desolace. I'm currently on my way to see if there's anything new out there, but I have a feeling the trip will be in vain... Any advice would be most welcome on the subject.

I so long to be a ninja once again. Smiley: grin

Have you tried going somewhere and "repairing" your weapons/armor? Thrown weapons can now be repaired when they run out (at least that's how I understand it works) and you will have them replenished. Maybe that doesn't work for ones that existed before the patch... not sure.

Yea I've tried repairing it, but it has no durability rating what-so-ever.
It looks exactly like it does in the thottbot link. Smiley: cry

Yeah - I had a similar problem on my level 17 Rogue with his throwing knives. The stack of 150+ knives turned into broken knives that I couldn't find any way to repair so I tossed them.

The replacement item was a single throwing knife with 200/200 durability.

The really odd thing was that after throwing a bunch of knives, I later looked at the throwing knife I had equipped and it was still at 200/200 even though I'm pretty sure I checked before I did a repair.

Still, not sure why they couldn't just replace the old stack of knives directly with the new version at a durability matching the existing stack. Yes, it is 'cheap' to replace the standard knives (and hatchets) but even copper is dear when you are just starting out on a server with no high level character to help out.

Of course I shouldn't have bothered replacing the knives since I got a nice green gun out of the Kolkar booty chest last night and will be using that for what little ranged damage I do. LoL

It really does suck when the item isn't easily replaceable like mine was. That throwing star sounds pretty fun. :(

From CM Nethaera:

Throwing weapons have been converted into a new system as a part of the changes for the expansion. The new throwing weapons will now lose durability from the stack however they can also be repaired. When making these changes we were not able to convert the previously existent throwing weapons and they are now labeled as "broken" and are considered junk by the system.

The changes that we have made to throwing weapons will help to make them more viable in the long run.
