I managed to get the entire EU patch from a BitLord torrent, took about two hours to download the whole thing.
You can get the patch simply by logging in? The servers don't need to be up for that.

Edit: Odd, I had downloaded at least 28% of the patch using the background downloader, but now it starts at 4% when I use the Blizzard Downloader thing like usual. I'm not going to use the background downloader if it doesn't help...

It does help. Maybe it's just checking the files you already downloaded? I downloaded 460 MB of it from a mirror and then mine had to go through and check the files I had.
It did check the files first. As I said, it started at 4%.
The thing is, I downloaded almost 30% with the background downloader.
Anyways, it's at 16% now. 3 hours to go.

Just got home. Downloaded patch in 30 seconds and Blizzard updater at 15%.
Extended maintenance ends in 15 minutes.

Blizzard Downloader, @ 21%, about 4 hours. The good thing about this is though, that the extended maintenance should be pretty much over when I get rdy.

Same here, tbh. I don't understand it - patches usually take ages to download (like yours seems to be doing) - but this morning it raced through the 600+ MB in about 15 seconds.
Bizarre, but I'm not complaining ^^

Mine raced through today but only because blizzard background downloader has spent the last 3 days downloading the thing! So today supper quick!

Ok this is the deal the 15 seconds if flew through your "Download", was not a download, it was simply verifying the file you had previously downloaded. You already had this file on your computer.
I saw when I started WoW that it was Verifying the 492 megs I had downloaded earlier then I had to do a small additional 2 meg download after the Verify was done.

Ahh, I see. Well, there goes my hope that the upgrade fairies had visited my laptop in the middle of the night. /sigh
The thing I'm wondering here, that I downloaded my 400odd megs from Filefront. It verified that and started to download the rest.
...But it started from 11%.
Last time I checked 450~ is not 11% of 697.

My characters are not appearing at the character selection screen, so I'm assuming that all of the servers I play on are down.

Been going for about an hour and its 9% downloaded. Anyone know how to speed it up at all?
