WoW Splash Screen Updater window thingy.... update?Follow

#1 Dec 01 2006 at 5:44 AM Rating: Decent
For the last two days when I start WoW the Splash screen (window that has news and links to WoW stuff from Blizzard) pops up and tells me that there is a new Update to install for the Updater or something.

I am guessing it is for the downloader or the actual splash screen updater, since I already have the game's patch downloaded.

It has done this for the last two days (I have only started WoW twice, so it has done it twice)... once yesterday and then again about 15min ago when I started WoW.

Anyone else been getting this?
Should I be alarmed?
Is this kosher?
Is this good-to-go?
(I ran out of things to say)

Thanks for replies!

I've been getting that too, and I do know that every now and then in the past they do the update thing. I actually think (though i'm not 100% sure because truthfuilly I just started using the launcher recently myself) that for every NEWS update they need to update the launcher thing. I don't think the size of the file downloaded as a pre-patch has changed so...

Yeah the loader has updated 2x on me so far, I just chalked it up to something needed to be tweeked with that 1st update that they did.

Ditto. But, what's more annoying is that the patch download went to my desktop, and despite having a full download (all 484MB or whatever it was) 2x now, it STILL says there is a patch to download and starts over from 0MB....

I've since just turned off patch download option all together. Should I move the data from my desktop to it recognizes it already has the patch?

I had the launcher update twice myself, once on Wednesday and once on Thursday. The one on Wednesday appeared to me to be the update to actually download the toold needed to move the patch from the desktop to the WoW folder and the one on Thursday actually moved it. Remember, Blizzard did state they were making the tools available this week to move the patch.

I have had it update three times so far. Been the same file size all three times. Whatever it is doing lately... it's starting to become very annoying.
