I don't find threats of suicide humorous. Even if the story is a complete fabrication, suicide is not a joke. On the other hand if he's able to spell "suicide", how come he can't spell "threatens"?

The only part I found humorous in that whole thread is that the cops actually showed up. Apparently the idiot didn't realized he had given them his entire contact information when signing up with the account. Welcome to WoW.

Anyway, though, I find it very scary that Blizz seemed to have a canned email for this type of situation. I know that some senior customer service reps can write up emails so nicely they sound canned (a few work for my company that have that talent), but I doubt that was the case.

Very bizare story all the way around.

Suicide is a pretty serious thing, but if someone is willing to end his life over a video game... well, you won't see me stopping him.

So is this how people do it now adays?

Do something to get yourself banned, knowing you did something wrong.
Then say im going to kill myself if you dont let me back in.

I feel for you, honestly i do, but im real life, there are REAL LIFE consequences. You knew the consequences before you got yourself banned, so why did you do it, if you would kill yourself with out the game?

Sorry my friend, I highly doubt blizzard will take you seriously, and even if they do, they wont help you. You would be better off saying, Im an idiot i screwed up please let me back in.

Either way your screwed, but blizzard is an entity, not a person with feelings. Good luck with that one.

Personally I think the kid is an idiot for using a speed hack, and an idiot for attempting to use sucide as a way to get out of his ban. I don't support this (for those who might think I do since I posted), and think the kids does need help and I hope the police will come back and talk to his parents about his "threat". I saw this and figured ya'll might want to read and comment.

For me, it was defiently a big WTF moment.

What? I've never gotten banned for my speed hacks either.

That would be because I've never used them.

omfg that was hilarious. how did you know of that site? seems like it's a board for hackers of WoW...i hope someone told you of that board and that you don't actually use the information on there for your own personal gain o.O

anyways yeah did someone tell Blizzard about that site? seems like they'd like to get to everyone on there!

Edit: I posted that forum the OP linked to on the official WoW forums in hopes of a GM seeing it and dealing with the hundreds of exploits on it. And yes, it does feel good. I didn't know if someone reported them yet or not so I did.

Ummmm....this was a mirror of the site, which at the top, you can see that it was something of a "news" story. I figure the OP found it through some other source who had it linked for the sheer stupidity of the post.

Actually, if you click up at the top you can get to the original site which is
http://www.cannotlinkto/phpBB2/index.php?f=601 and has the forums.

Edit: looks like the website has been flagged and is impossible to link to.

I think the cops actually showed up at his house or something and Blizz told him to seek help.

I read about this. Apparently there was also a second guy who did the same thing after reading the first one, figuring that it couldn't be real. Not only did he threaten to commit suicide, he threatened to kill his family.

He was given the option of 2 hour counseling a couple nights a week, or something like 6 months in jail.

It was kinda funny.

Edit: I should probably qualify that I don't find suicide funny. It's the sheer stupidity of the person that makes it so.

Though suicide isn't funny, stupid people are hillarious.

IMO those kids sound more like attention whores than people with actual mental issues.

Look at me, look at me!
I'm special, the rules shouldn't apply to me!
I always get what I want!
Look what I can do!

In a way, I am comforted to see that blizzard does take such things seriously and provides some kind of REAL response. Most companies would probably just say "talk to someone else, not our problem" or give a hot-line number and leave it at that. Sure, it's kinda odd maybe that they have a canned response, but I can understand it cause the last thing blizzard wants to see is a headline next week saying "Teen Kills Self over Video Game" and watch certain anti-video game supporters try to use that as a new rallying cry against games.

Lawl.

Too bad the kid wasn't serious. WoW could definately do without so many asshats, and if we have to resort to killing them off, so be it.

I did chuckle at the game admin's response, too. Apparently, this isn't the first time that somebody has threatened with suicide over the closure of their account. As somebody who had his EQ account (wrongfully) banned, I can't even imagine taking my life because of it.

Some people need to get out more.

Wow, I don't think I've seen so many idiots gathered in one place before. I'm talking about the forum where he originally posted in.

Even one of the moderators admit to hacking/botting, heck, he even brags about never being caught. And they have zero grammar skills which makes my inner Grammar **** quite unhappy. Smiley: frown

Example:

Why you remove addy that account was banned and i dont even use that Email i maded that 1 after i got my first account banned lol

Don't be a dummy, it says he didn't give his real information. He was probably found by tracing his emails (Which explains why it took the cops hours to find him). Most likely he wasn't using a dialup connection so that makes everything even faster, his ISP has all the info you need to go knock on his door.

Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
that suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late.

First: Nice to see you back, hope everything went ok with the stuff you were doing last I saw ya here.

Secondly: Ummm... yea do you need some help with that little post? >_> (aka I don't really know how to respond to it)

Finally: Yea that story is, interesting to say the least that the OP linked. Funny in sheer stupidity, but not funny in that I don't find suicide funny at all like others.

Agreed.

Although I do feel a little bad for him, it's going to be a hard life for him. You know, being so stupid and all.
