Farming in Silithus- Bug or Glitch?Follow

#1 Nov 28 2006 at 11:40 AM Rating: Good
The last few posts of mine have involved Silithus, mainly because I've spent the majority of the last couple of weeks grinding there for texts. However, a few times I noticed a really unusual bug, which a couple of people have suggested might be an exploit, and I was wondering if any other people have seen it.

I tended to prefer farming the main camp close to the Cenarion NPCs. There is more competition, but the camp is large enough that there are usually enough mobs to share. Usually. However, while grinding on cultists in the main camp, I noticed that sometimes I would pull a mob (I usually pull them individually out of the camp if people are farming the outskirts), only to have it turn sharply and beeline for another player. When I originally shot it, it would still be red, but just before it turned, it would go grey, as if someone else had claimed it before me. Alternatively, I did see a couple of times when I'd be fighting on the outskirts of the camp, only to see a swarm of mobs (Geolords, Avengers and even Stonecallers) running at me as if they all had Dash, only to assist the mob I was attacking.

I'd put it down to some sort of freakish glitch, but a couple of people told me they'd had it happen to them as well, but only when a horde group (between 5 and 10 people each time) had been there, and they knew it was usually the same crew because one was a Tauren with Thunderfury. I know that the weapon does chain damage, but there are two issues- first, sometimes they were not near me, as I have a habit of going on the opposite side of any group, and therefore my mobs shouldn't be near enough to be affected by the AoE, and second, there were times I didn't see any other players within visual range (either on the outskirts or in the camps) at all, which meant that when my mob de-claimed (or other mobs aggroed), it was at a time when they should definitely not have.

Any ideas or similar experiences?

I first heard about this months ago. It was related to the problem where you get stuck in combat for no reason at all and you'd have to run several dozen yards from the area to get out of combat.

I don't think it's an exploit. I think it's probably issues with the terrain more than anything. That camp in particular (of the 3 main camps) is unique in it's topography and I've seen mobs do some really odd pathing because of it.

I've seen mobs do odd things like that... seems like it's usually the first couple days after maintenance. I'd say it's just weirdness in the pathing or something.

I have noticed quite a few things with that camp and all of them look more like bugs than exploits to me.

Everything from the mobs who go on evade because they want to keep napping on their hammock, to all the summoning mobs suddenly taking an interest in you even though you are nowhere near their aggro radius.

These bugs and the large amount of competition are why I usually farm the southern camp.

Im reading it but not sure exaclty what is going on but are you pulling the guys that are concentrating on the crystal thingy in the middle? Pretty sure you'll get your butt whooped if you distrupt them and dont have people around to help.

Bugs in Silithus?

Sounds pretty appropriate to me...
