Most people get that after they hit 40 on their first char. I got bored and stopped playing for a few months after i hit 40 and got my mount. A few months later i felt like playing again and pushed to 60. Now that i am 60, mostly epic'd im starting to get bored again. It might be time for a break until the exp comes out.

Try an alt toon now, something else that peaks your intrests. Let your main at 40 gain rested bonus. (Only one and a half level of rested bonus can be obtained)

When your level 40 gets a level of rested, push it through that level, grinding and questing at the same time. Still feel bored of it, then head back to the alt (or alts) and let the main gain more rested bonus xp.

If that doesn't work then stop playing all together for a while, pick up a new console system or RL hobby and return when the spark reignites!

Nah, i say grin and bear through your first character, level 60 is something worth your effort, starting all over again may be enough to break your will to play the game.

Go make a few runs through uldaman, then run ZF, then run mauradon, then ST, and then you will be high enough in level to run BRD, then strat, and then scholo.

Theres your game plan... LOL - of course im just kidding i know pugging all of those places is unimaginable sometimes, but its worth a try.

I don't know about anyone else but games usually keep me around due to the people I interact with. Why else would I have played UO for 5 years? Especially considering it became horrible after the first 2.

I know what you mean about getting bored. I got to about the mid 40s on my Warlock and started my now 43 Paladin. After a few months of raiding ZG, AQ20 and MC I got really bored of the level 60 content I had access to and pretty much lost interest in the game.

Hopefully the smaller team oriented content of the expansion, the revised honor system, and arena combat will help.

My story;
Well I got bored because my friends got busy and my system was getting such terrible framerates that it wasn't even enjoyable any more.

I'm rebuilding my system this month in a new case with a heftier power supply, a newer graphics card and better cooling all around and I should be good to go for the expansion. I've only been away since October 14th and I'm starting to peek back at the game. I figure if I'd honestly totally lost my concern for WoW , I'd have quit posting.

Hopefully in an overhauled version of my PC and the expansion pack, I can get back in touch with my RL friends on Hellscream and kick things off right in January.

Yeah I got bored of doing ZG, MC, adn AQ on my main so I rolled an alt of just about every class possible. Each were exciting until around 25ish, then I lost interest. I suspended my account until the expansion comes out, then I will see how I feel.

I have to agree with lauisifer here. I felt much the same as you did around lv. 40, but reaching 60 on a toon is a feeling unlike anything I can desribe (Well, that's a fallacy. I can think of a few things that are comparable, none of them WoW related though ;) ).

Give that first character time to come to fruition and you'll discover a whole new game that you never quite thought existed.

Take a break, enjoy football season (if that's your thing) or find something else to grab your attention. I too felt this way around 30-40 range and my rogue stayed there for over 6 months. Go to the gym, do something that will get you away from the computer screen. Once you come back to the game after a break like that it seems fun and rewarding like it did when you first started.

Every-so-often I take an extended break from WoW, mainly due to work/college starting to take a toll, or I want to be with my gf more often.

Just remember, this is a game.....a very popular one and it's gonna be around for a while. It will be here when you are ready to come back :)

I wonder if a lot of people saying they are bored if this is their first MMO. I mean..after all..these are what MMO are about. I guess you either like it or you don't. I know at one time I got tired of them and got into FPS alot. Believe it or not that get's almost boring even quicker.

I'm going through a bit of a bored/frustrated phase as well. Mind you, I'm going through the same phase in real life- I seem to be unsatisfied with a lot of things, but that's a completely different story (and probably TMI as well).

Last night, I hit friendly with Cenarion Circle on Steelbelly. I also managed to score the last few stacks of Dense Grinding Stones that I need to get 1200 tickets for Amulet of the Darkmoon (a friend had been converting all the dense stones I had won into the grinding stones for me). I bought Formula: Enchant Cloak - Greater Fire Resistance, and realised that I need to get a runed arcanite rod to make it, which means I need an arcanite rod (~115 gold), Golden Pearl (~20 gold), 10 illusion dust (~10 gold), 4 Greater Eternal Essence (~20 gold), 4 Small Brilliant Shard (~6 gold), and 2 Large Brilliant Shard (~10 gold) to make the rod, for a grand total of about 181 gold. It doesn't sound like much, but that's just the rod.

Between the time spent farming CC rep, money spent on dense stone, time spent in Deadwind Pass to get my first 300 tickets from the Darkmoon Faire, and some hiccups with instances and my guild (my time zone makes it hard for me to raid on a PST server, but I have local friends that don't want to move to EST because of the time they've invested in their guilds, etc.), I'm feeling a tad burned out right now. The competition for Twilight Cultists was often very difficult, and a couple of high-level groups (as in good Epics, etc.) made it hard to compete- especially when competing with a group of 5 to 10 people who moved in a big circle, and ran it like they would a high-level instance, effectively tagging everything in a radius. All's fair in love and war though.

i got a little bored of my first character (Night Elf Hunter, i know i know) and decided to make an alt....but making an alt is even more boring! Sure, i LOVE playing a gnome mage but it's like torture to do all the same areas again. I gotta get him to at least 30 (hes 18 now) to start using that guide again (which is fun imo) for leveling. so i just gotta grin and bear it, like someone earlier said.

My advice to you is to take a break. That's what I did, your character(s) will have full rested xp when you return and it will be refreshing for ya.

Here i thought i was odd for hitting 40 and having my interest start to fade.
I guess for me it was the realization that I could never timewise keep up with friends who power played into high levels and that the game content was getting repetative. I also was spending waaaay too much time(still not enough to keep up with game friends) playing and not giving RL the attention it needed(Family, friends, work and so on).
My solution, which my wife partially made for me on threat of sending me to sleep on the couch, was play a lot less and spend more time in the real world.
I play 1 to 2 hrs a night and sometimes skip a night or 3 and i find since the time is more limited i am more focused and get far more done than the old days when i would waste hrs meandering.
As far as instances i leave that for weekends. Bottom line is that the game should be fun and if it isnt is time to make some changes to make it so again.
