I gave the option for the download to complete while I was not playing the game. Needless to say it took a while, however completed over the weekend. I know have a folder on my desktop called WoW 1.2.????, with the two files inside it. Is there something I need to complete now? Can I delete this folder?

As near as I can tell, the update hasn't been processed on my system.

Thanks

I would imagine that tomorrow (or whichever day it goes through) when the patch goes into effect that it will access this folder and patch it then.

I just want to confirm that I have all the files. You guys have two different file segments in that folder?

This is a known bug and Blizzard asks that you do not do anything with the folder. They will apply a tool that will move the patch to the right spot.

Sorry, no blue post to link to you at this time, but I have read it.

Sounds like it has to do with creating shortcuts on the desktop. There is information on how to fix this in the post.

With the Background Downloader off and the game off, you can try moving the folder into your World of Warcraft folder. Right-click the World of Warcraft desktop shortcut and go to Properties. Make sure the "Start in:" field is filled in correctly. A simple way of fixing it is to copy the Target line then remove the executable name. Example from my computer:

Current:

Target: "C:\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe"
Start in:

Afterwards:

Target: "C:\World of Warcraft\Launcher.exe"
Start in: "C:\World of Warcraft\"

It's odd that the shortcut that they created would be the issue at hand, but I'll try it out.

Thanks

I had the same issue, corrected the shortcut and moved the folder to the correct location, all is good.
