What, pray tell, is an autoclicker?

I imagine its a macro or mod that will click for you... But I would also like to know. PRAY TELL AUTO CLICKORS.

Whatever the OP meant, I'm sure the answer is no. Blizzard has gone out of their way to defeat mods that simply do things for you, including making minor movements just to keep you logged in.

An autoclicker is a program that runs in windows and clicks anyplace on the desktop at a speed you set, I suffer with CTS and in another mmorpg that i used to play crafting was a big part and i used to use the Autoclicker to save my wrists from the hours of clicking, this is the sort of thing i am talking about http://www.valissoft.com/autoclicker.htm Do you think this would be against the EULA.

Oh and what do you mean by PRAY TELL AUTO CLICKORS or pray tell, is an autoclicker?

Cheers.

Blizzard has stated that a number of utilities are fine as long as the user is still at the computer while using them. They are aware that people with disabilities enjoy playing the game as well and sometimes it is necessary to accommodate those players with additional programs.

My suggestion is for you to contact Blizzard directly (phone/email/posting on official forums) to get a specific yes/no in terms of the exact application you wish to use.

Keep in mind there is also a degree of "click saving" you can do by using the WoW macro system. Not sure if it would help in this situation, but it might. Check out the UI/MOD boards for tips in that regard.

They're not acceptable, I think that warden catches them, especially that they're a third party program that has to run at the same time as WoW.

But don't worry about crafting, there is a very useful "Create All" button to do the autocrafting for you. And it's already in the game, not an addon.

I'm not sure on the software "autoclicker" front, but I sympathise with the CTS, having it myself. I also have a touch of arthritis in the hands and wrists too. I too just couldn't keep clicking keys over and over, as in, say when Foraging in Everquest. Actually, using my EQ monk was worse again, come to think of it - they expect you to gain skillups in Feign Death (and Intimidate, etc.) and whatnot by pressing a key over and over. And over. Not bad for the first 1,000 keypresses but it gets hard after that!

There are gamepads such as the Belkin Nostromo N52 which I use in EQ and some FPS games to avoid contorting my stiff left hand around a keyboard and also for mashing those repetitive keys. To the best of my knowledge Sony has nothing against these as long as you are not AFK whilst it is in action. I haven't set it up for WoW as I can't think of anything to autoclick, not at this moment. Mind you, I'm new to WoW so may have missed out on something?

Honestly, WoW is a lot better than other MMOs with the crafting system and such. Crafting's all one or two clicks. And from my experience, the mouse is only really needed in combat for movement, targeting, and camera adjustment. Pretty much everything can be accomplished with hotkeys and macros.

As Jantis suggested, contact Blizzard and ask them. Since you have a legit disability, they might be able to make exceptions for you.

Blizzard HAS taken a stance against this type of thing, actually. There was some drama several months back involving one of those Logitech keyboards that you can create macros through (can't think of the name off the top of my head). This guy wanted his priest to raise weapon skills, so he set up a macro to heal himself occasionally and change weapons, then went and fought some low-level mobs. The keyboard would repeat his macros at set intervals, and he went and did something else on his computer or watched TV while this was happening, just checking in every so often. He thought nothing was wrong since he was technically at the keyboard, but he was banned for botting. There was a big thread here back then, but since I don't have premium searching powers, maybe someone could dig it up?

Aye, I'm not surprised he was banned - in mmorpgs I personally take "not afk" to mean I am actually playing the game, but saving the strain on my battered hands and wrists at the same time. I'd never set it up to do stuff and window out of the game. As you and I both say, there doesn't seem to be much need for a clicker in WoW. In "Evergrind" though... :)

The nice thing about the Nostromo is the 16 configurable buttons, the scrolling wheel and the directional thumbpad. It fits the left hand very comfortably, too.

I keep meaning to search up a Nostromo. I have a Z-board Fang pad, which is awesome for shooters and action games (Fable specifically, but anything depending on the W-S-A-D setup). When I tried it for WoW, I just got annoyed. I actually had less buttons available on the Fang than the keyboard, due to my usage of Alt and Ctrl and the little squiggly key next to the number line (`, I think it's called a tilde). I'll have to try and get hold of a Nostromo, if it's so highly recommended... :)

I remember the thread you're talking about (or at least one similar) but don't know where to find it... granted I could try searching, but the only thing I could think of as a search string would be the keyboard's name or something else that would come up with like a million hits. The keyboard you're thinking about is the Logictech G5 most likely. I was thinking about getting one of those around the time the thread hit, but decided against it (even though i'd love to have one) because it seems like blizzard is kind of hit or miss with banning things from those when you just like use one macro to do something over and over... be it like a shot rotation for a hunter, setting it up as a priest to shield and heal a tank or yourself, using it to perfectly time a stunlock or something as a rogue... I'd rather not take the chance and just use ingame macros in the few instances I need one.

Thank you. That's it exactly.

I seem to remember the issue being not with the keyboard itself, but with how the individual used it. It allows you to program macros into the keyboard itself, so you could, say, have it push a button, then wait 5 seconds, then push another button, and so on... Thus allowing for easy botting. I seem to remember a big hoopla because a lot of people thought it was the keyboard itself that got the guy banned, when it was him using it to bot. I really wish I could search that thread up, there was some excellent discussion about this sort of issue...

From what I can remember, the guy basically got busted for repeating the exact same action sequence for hours.

QFT. :)
