Hey,

I've had fishing for a long time, but never really bothered with it. My skill is currently at 187 Fishing, and i mainly fish in Auberdeen for [Oily Blackmouth].

And recently i have concidered to get my fishing up to 300, not only because i want to get it up to 300, i want to experience different fish types and also to be able to provide fishes for alc's in my guild.

My question is, where are good spots in terms of getting colorish and rare fish-types.

Any kind of help or tips would be much appreciated.

A lot depends on your level. I'd continue fishing in Darkshore until skill=225, and level = 25+. Alternatively, you can go to the Barrens and fish the oases for Deviate Fish until your skill=225 and your level is 25+.

Once your skill and level are good, go to Tanaris - take a lot of lures (+75 lures work fine). It's fairly safe as long as you stick to the road. get the FP in Gadgetzan, and take the road to steamwheedle port. you can fish for Stonescale Eels eithr off the dock at Steamwheedle, or roam up and down the coast looking for fishing/debris pools.

Some advice to add... This has been mentioned in other threads, but I figured I'd pass it on with my experiences.

Good advice from Mike. As for the deviate fish, I'd feel comfortable going after them around skill 150. I always prefer going into the actual WC instance so I don't have horde problems. If your high enough, you can fight your way in or use the RLH method. Just be wary of horde grps 20+ in the area.

I moved on to stonescale eel at higher fishing levels, but you can actually do deviate all the way to 300 if you like. Either route is good money.

Get the FishingBuddy Mod http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-2111-1-fishing-buddy.html I will never fish without it. It has some nice features such as:

1) Dulls environment sounds when you have pole equipped. This makes it easier to hear when you have a fish on the line. This also allows you to multitask, reading and fishing go well together imo.

2) Lets you just click on the water to cast, add lure (if you don't have one on), and to retrieve fish. I'm sure you can imagine how easier and faster this makes fishing. I always put something on my keyboard to hold down shift; that reduces clicking further since you autoloot when you catch. (maybe I'm just lazy lol)

3) It tracks the statistics on fish you've caught in every area. Makes for a good reference.

There are some other options on the mod as well, but those are the ones that I like.

Good luck with your fishing endevors. It can be a grind, but also profitable and relaxing if you just want to chill.

To get to lvl 300 fishing yiu will have to get a quest from your fishing trainer and he will tell you to see Nat Paggle and he will give you a quest to become Master Angler. At least i think so.

Your fishing skill will increase at the same rate each time you catch a fish. It does not matter where you fish, so long as you catch something. The most effective way to gain skill alone is therefore to fish where the fewest fish "get away". Initially fish in starting zones. At higher skill levels, consider fishing where you can catch something of value. I got 1-300 outside Senjin village just because its out of the way, an no one bugged me to run them thru any instance. Its not about where you catch things, more based on how many you catch to skill up.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Fishing#Boosting_Your_Fishing_Skill Its a wiki link to help you get fishing skills up.

Tanaris is a good place to level fishing. Just hang out by the steamwheedle port area, along the shore. There are plenty of nice places to fish there. Bring a +75 lure just in case. You can catch yellowtail, stonescale eels from what I remember.

Another nice area was the Hinterlands (the Raventusk Village for Horde). But the fish were only level 25 or so.

Azshara is a good place to fish once you hit 300 fishing. Squid, Lobster, Mightfish, Stonescale Eels are just some of the catches there. You also get clams and locked boxes. You need +75 lure here or better.

Winterspring is also a good zone. The hot springs near the TB cave is the place for salmon, plated fish and the lightning eels. But bring a lure here also : +75 at least.
