An “I’ve been playing WoW too long” momentFollow

I was driving to work this morning in typical autumn weather. The temperature was dropping, the rain was falling is soft sheets and the wind was blowing in heavy gusts. I was thinking about what I needed to do once I reached my destination as I passed over a concrete bridge. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a plant growing out of the top of the concrete railing near the center of the bridge. My brain automatically identified it as goldthorn and for a spit second I found myself deciding whether or not it was worth my time to stop and gather it.

That definitely felt strange. I wasn’t sure whether I should be amused or worried. I guess I shouldn’t worry unless I actually do stop and gather it. But it still felt very weird.

Thankfully I'm not quite to that stage yet.

I'm at the dream stage. I've had 3 WoW dreams and 2 dreams that involved my guildies hanging out in real life.

If I ever stop to try to pick a WoW herb IRL, I'm taking a vacation.

I once was driving behind a car that had a license plate that said "DNG 237". My very first thought was "Congrats on the ding!". Followed by "Level 237, how in the hell did he get that?"

Took a couple of week break after that one.

Recently, every time someone complains around me, I hit the with either "Cry more, noob" or "QQ, noob".

rofl! yeah i have had weird moments like that too. after playing for ten hours straight and then going out to target i started eyeing people and trying to determine if i was in friendly territory or not. i finally left in a daze and decided that i needed to go home and take a nap.

Yesterday my co-worker (who also plays WoW) asked me "If I had ever been to Coldstone Dairy?"

I replied nah I never really did any lowbie quests in the dwarve zone.

He was like "huh? no its right across the street by Top foods in the shopping plaza."

We both had a chuckle.

Did you have those little swirly dots above your head as you staggered away? I hate when gray-con shoppers tag me as I'm running by.

I think my "played (MMOs) too long" moment is a rather extended moment. I refer to my wife's inherent dislike of my games as "wife aggro", and I tend to think in terms of the game at work. My good clients are like faction NPCs (they don't bother me, and are sometimes useful or entertaining), the clueless users are enemy mobs (annoying, but often easy to deal with), and the managers / board of directors are like Elite raid bosses. Smiley: rolleyes

On a note regarding my wife- I finally found a diversion for her: I bought a new copy of the Jongg DVD. I had the CD years ago, but it got damaged. When I found out they had a new version out, I bought it & installed it- she spent hours playing Morejongg while I merrily got my MC attunement completed (finally)! Smiley: grin

a friend and I were talking the other day and he was trying to tell me he was changing jobs because they had been firing alot of people lately and he was worried that the company was in trouble. what he said was "I'm thinking they are in trouble. they have been deleting alot of characters lately." we had a good laugh over that.

not from WoW but in SWG where the waypoints were a shaft of lite, I would often find myself wishing for a waypoint when I was driving along trying to find something like an address.

I try to access my actionbar once in a while, though I don't have one in real life.

Makes me sad too, because things are so much simpler in World of Warcraft. You kill stuff, make money, have fun and don't worry about anything.

Real life is the worst game I've ever played by far.

I do the same as a guy over me here, i think that i have "reputation" with my family, and i just got exalted with my uncle since i now can drive his car without anyone sitting in it with me :P

And i got dreams of WoW quite much to, but dont think i'll be picking goldthorns in the near future since i like enchanting/mining =)

I sit at my PC pretty much all day, even if I'm not playing WoW. Often when I'm on the phone I'll try to hit the push to talk button when I want to say something. Sad really.

And how many of us use IMs (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, etc), and put r or /g in front of their replies?
Most of my friends have gotten used to 'rHey, what's up?' and '/g Man, it's a long day at work. I wish it was a weekend!' Smiley: laugh

My moment includes seeing sweet cinnamon rolls in the break room at work and one dreary eyed morning seeing them and saying to myself, "man, who's the lucky mage who conjured those? I haven't been able to get that drop yet!" Then I start looking around wondering what others would think if they knew what just went through my head. Hehe....

They just don't know what they're missing...

Got my new license plate a few weeks ago and was thrilled cos the letters on it are NXX. Now I can think of Naxx when I need to remember it because I could never remember the old one!

When I talk to my sister on Yahoo messenger, I keep hitting 'enter' first before typing instead of just typing, so there always lots of blank lines from me. Heh.

My whole family plays, so we compare people in a movie or on tv or out somewhere to just about anything in-game. =)

Oh, and I have seen Briarthorn at a place in the woods where I was taking photos-I swore it looked just like it! Got a good chuckle out of it(and no, didn't try to pick it!)

[OT] Speaking of license plates...

I saw JUICYFRT the other day on a tag. At first I saw "juicyfruit", and seeing the kind of car and the driver, I'm quite sure that was the intention.

But based on my own experiences my mind managed to fill in an alternate ending. When I mentioned the tag to several of my friends, they immediately thought of the alternate phrase. They said it was because I brought it up.

I guess I just need more Bean-O.

I find myself doing the same thing sometimes. Rather amusing.

Way back in the day, I used to play MUDs a lot (the family PC couldn't handle any good games then), and you'd have to put things like /ooc for "on open channel" or /y or /w, and I'd find myself putting /w in front of ICQ messages... rather embarrassing when I did it to a friend who didn't play, and I had to explain it... ;)
