Ranged Elemental Damage: Our ranged combat system does not allow a ranged weapon to do a mix of Elemental (Fire, Frost, Arcane, etc.) and Physical damage. Many ranged weapons existed which were listed as doing Elemental damage and did not function properly (the damage was dealt, but was treated as Physical). All of those weapons have been changed to deliver the Elemental damage as a chance on hit effect. Hurricane was previously changed this way in 1.11. The following ranged weapons are also fixed in 1.12: Bow of Searing Arrows, Dwarven Hand Cannon, Heartseeking Crossbow, Dark Iron Rifle, Galgann's Fireblaster, Quillshooter, Shell Launcher Shotgun, Venomstrike, and Verdant Keeper's Aim.

Heh. I didn't even remember that the Heartseeking Crossbow had +1-4 Shadow Damage because it never popped up as a separate damage number. I guess now I will notice when it does proc.

I've never used this since I don't really need it, I'm Beastmaster spec'd but I was waiting for this to happen. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing for us really, it might just make the hunters that used it think of a different strategy.

o Raid Pullout frames are now created on demand and will not take up any memory if you are not using them.

o New API Functions

+ Add-ons can send hidden chat messages to players in the party, raid or guild, using SendAddonMessage("prefix", "message", "PARTY"|"RAID"|"GUILD"|"BATTLEGROUND"). When players receive these messages, a new event "CHAT_MSG_ADDON" is sent, with arg1-arg3 being the parameters to SendAddonMessage(), and arg4 being the name of the player that sent it. The combined length of "prefix" and "message" must be less than or equal to 254 bytes.

+ Added UnitPlayerOrPetInParty() and UnitPlayerOrPetInRaid().

Hey guys can someone tell me what all this gibberish means?

Lately when in groups I've noticed ready checks, big text in the center of the screen saying, for example "Sheep Left mob" from someone typing. How do you do that? Does the quoted text have anything to do with that?

It means they found a new way to ***** up my addons.

It's addon stuff. I don't get it, I just download them. But this smells of having to redo all my addons.

I wonder if this means I get the shard back when I dismiss the demon.

What if it despawns because I summon a different one? Or enslave a loose one.

This could be a bigger deal than it seems on the surface. I'm glad flights won't cost me a shard along with the flightmaster fee...but those other effects open up some interesting possibilities for a demonologist - if the patch note means what it says.

raid pullout frames used to by dynamically allocated...so they must have changed this...should increase performance if you use them (i dont, i use ctra)

the messages are nice because it will allow easier access for mods to talk on those channels...the text in the middle of the screen can only be sent by the raid leader and they use the /rw (Raid Warning) channel

These are new UI routines for add-on writers, and I would not think that should mess up existing addons. It's only a problem when they change or nerf existing functions, like automatic pet feeding. Argh!

Just download Winamp, open the preferences, and enable global hotkeys. Then you can easily control your music without having to alt-tab out of the game. Or just buy one of those keyboards with programable multimedia functions.

This is a raid thing. The raid leader or people who have been Promoted in the raid can use /rw to make these raid alerts pop up on screen and can also initiate a Ready Check (with sound effect) to make sure everybody's ready to roll.

I think this feature was added around when the Lucky Charms were added. Very handy, but also easy to abuse. We had to demote some idiots who liked to do things like run around AB going /rw Attention... /rw I like cheese. /rw That is all. Smiley: oyvey

In regards to ingame scrolling combat text ...

I don't view it as "ripping off" a popular add-on, rather I view it as now there is one less add-on that I have to install and manage.
