I think it should be stickied, it is rather helpful.
#104REDACTED, Posted: Jan 17 2008 at 6:38 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Oh geez, please don't incorporate VC and DM together. VC is deadmines, DM is Dire Maul. End of story. This is the most common complaint everyone has and it's getting annoying.

We need a better way to distinguish Shattered Halls and Sethekk Halls... I realize asking would be best.. but when you get to wanting to do one, or if one is the daily dungeon you don't really think of the other and end up going to one when it's the other they want to run...

and I know I can't be the only one that does it.

can't spell

I would take the DM - Deadmines off of the abbreviations. In my experience, people just call deadmines VC in honor of the boss name so that it doesn't get confused with Dire Maul.

I know I've heard people say "Seth" to LFG for Sethekk Halls. Maybe that could work

Nice new avatar, Mazra...

Of course, we all know you'll go back to your hand-bra picture eventually.

You do know that BoP (Blessing of Protection) is missing from your paladin list.

I always thought that was the most often used abbreviation for the paladin blessings.

Ok this one is more forum related but what does FTFY, I think that is right?
Anyway I have seen something like that used and it still boggles my mind I can't figure it out.

It stands for "Fixed that for you." Someone will quote something that someone else said, changing something in the quote, and say FTFY, often to humorous effect.

I can't think of any good examples off the top of my head, but it's usually used to poke fun at the poster, or expose the real meaning of their post.

Personally, acronyms annoy me. Maybe I'm being kinda elitist as someone with a fast typing speed but oh well, I don't care. In fact, I'm starting my own revolt against acronyms. Every time someone uses one, I'm going to do this...

"Wanna go to SSC?"

"The Society for Silk Cloth?"

or...

"Are you MT?"

"No, I'm not a Male Teacher, what makes you think that?"

"TTYL"

"Take ten yummy licorice? Sounds good! I love that stuff!"

Oh Ask-A-Ninja, how you inspire me!

Awsome thread. Saw a few that I didn't know. Here's a couple I thought of while reading through:

MMORPG - Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Game
WoW - World of Warcraft (yes this should be a given, but there really are some dumb people out there)
BE - Blood Elf
Shatt - Shattrath City
SMC - Silvermoon City
keyed - having the key to get into a Heroic instance (I've assumed, please correct if I'm wrong)
lvl - level
nvm - nevermind
Main - Character you play most often, quite often your highest level (though not necessarily)
Alt - Other characters beside your Main
Toon - Character

Warlock (ususlly just called a "lock"):
VW - Voidwalker
Succy (or other terms that wouldn't be appropriate here) - Succubus
felpup - Felhunter (though I personally just say "pup" and "fel" for felhunter and felguard, respectively)
Demo - Demonology tree
SB - shadowbolt

And I've seen Sethekk Halls called "Seth" a few times. That's how I distinguish it.

One I've seen a friend use, but sure how common it actually is:
Flier - flying mount

I could probably think of some others, but I'm really tired right now.

WTG = way to go

(Not WoW-exclusive, but then a lot of these terms are also found elsewhere on the web.)

And BTW, WTG Jordster. Great list.

Edited to restructure order, not content.

On my server I find most people just says vaults. They used VoA for a while, then it was dropped.

EoE is often referred to as just Maly as well.
