World of Warcraft Acronym and Shortform ListFollow

After 20 years of Government service, I have more darned trouble with Geek Speak than you guys can probably imagine. Jordy put PWND in that thing for me and there are a ton more.

OOC under General as Out of Character (RP servers)

Kite (under what ever as I’m still trying to equate this with a military term)

Grid=Coordinates.

OTW On The Way is often used
HS for warlocks (HealthStone)
PAT or Pat for Patrol (Combat section)

I don't think Kite is an acronym of shortform of anything. It just means you treat your opponent like a kite. Keeping him at a distance at all times.

Grid is the horizontal and vertical lines on the map. Coordinates are points on the grid. I think.

Funny to see that naming differs a bit from server to server,
On my server:
Strat UD = Strat dead-side run
Strat Scarlet = Strat live-side run

Buffs:
MoTW = cow buff (i play horde side :) )
AI = Int buff
PF = sta buff
DS = spi buff

BG's:
WSG = CTF
AB = Domination
AV = Assault
(these are Unreal Tournament names, still a lot of people use em)

Not an abbreviation per se, but I have seen people LFG for a "princess run".
I'm assuming anybody who is sufficiently high enough level to participate knows what this is. For the rest of us, maybe some info? Thanks.

This list is pretty good. There is a list in your WoW manual in the back. Hmmm...is the manual still in my bag I take to work? Why, yes! Yes it is! I'll add some notes at the bottom. I also remember googling a list once when I first started playing - I think it was on wowwiki.
Most of the references I've found refer to Deadmines as VC (for the boss, Van Cleef) because DM is already Dire Maul.

Battleground specific abbreviations need to be fleshed out. I was very confused in my first WSG when people were barking out abbreviations and BG-specific terms like "inc ramp".
The only abbreviation that comes to mind that I haven't seen listed yet in your guide is:
GY = Graveyard.

Acronyms from the WoW manual that I didn't notice on the list that I remember being confused by:
AoE - Area of Effect (spells that hit more than one target at a time)
DoT - Damage over Time (enemies of a rogue's gouge skill)
DPS - Damage Per Second (usually used with an LFM - somebody who does a large amount of burst damage like mages and rogues, I'd assume)

Perhaps you could also note that a resto druid is a healing specialization and is usually a backup healer (or even a main healer if they're good). I think that's right, anyway. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

It means "you suck"...

I always thought this meant basically "you said something that you thought would add to the conversation and/or be cool or funny, but it was total bull s**t. Bye...stupid" ..or something like that lol

But, you don't see that one really all that often (more of a forum thing, as far as I have seen).

And while we are doing this, what the hell does QFT mean? "Quit f***ing talking" lol ? I have seen it all over the forums, and once in the game (none of the above were ever refering to me, which is good, since it seems like something negative). Thanks!
