WowReader Issues and HelpFollow

#502 Nov 14 2006 at 3:18 PM Rating: Decent
Are there any instructions on how to set up the background color for our character page that's generated by the WoW Reader?

Well, I did use the manual upload and that worked well for my second character. The main is on hold since Darkspear went off for 36 hours.. argh!
So If you don't have time to look twice to my previous post... I'll just do it that way! :-))

Woohoo! Excellent! Thanks very much!

I just tried uploading and it seemed to work for a while and then error off with a Protocol Error 0. It uploaded 314 items out of 1485 waiting. It apparently has quite a backlog to work through.

Huh. Interesting. It looks like it throws an error every 314 items. I got another error at 618, and now at 942. 1256... 1570... The error seems to vary, sometimes it's a protocol error, sometimes it's "Unable to read data from the transport connection."

Although I guess it could just be an error with the 315th item in queue and it's incrementing the "Uploaded" count but not marking the first 314 items as uploaded, so I'm just uploading the first 314 items over and over again. I'll, uh, stop uploading now in case that's what's going on. <whistle>

It looks like one of the items in your upload was tripping a bug in the server. I made some changes and it should (hopefully) be fixed now.

Sorry, Rale, but I'm still getting this same error message, even after trying multiple times. But I'm not even getting 314 items loaded. The backlog is getting bigger... (7580 items waiting).

Actually, looking a bit closer, my problem could be in the LUA data, which is loading in increments of 29.

As you know, I've been having this problem for a long while now:

[11/24/2006 8:20:33 AM] command: 99

[11/24/2006 8:20:46 AM] connection timed out: Unable to read data from the transport connection.

-------------

You have basically told me you have no clue as to why this is happening to me.

I have some new information now concerning my issue. I took my laptop to work with me to use their wireless internet to play on my lunch hour. For kicks, I tried to upload Wow Reader from there. It worked flawlessly from work. I came home and tried it again and hit this same wall. Next day I tried it at work again. Worked fine, no problems. Home that night, same thing. Connection timed out.

At home my husband and I have a sattelite internet connection through hugesnet.com (formally direcway.com). Hubby also has a Network Everywhere NWR11B Wireless-B router hooked into it so we can play together at the same time. (We don't use the wireless connection at home though. Both of our computers are direct connected with cables).

Is there something that he has to do with our router or modem to allow my Wow Reader updates to work from home?

I tried to use WowReader this morning and it got an exception error.

I uninstalled WowReader and reinstalled from the main Allakhazam page and now everytime I run WoWReader, it asks for the location of WoW.exe and then quits.

Do I need to destroy a registry key to get it working again?

Regards,

Brad

Ok! i see.

I hooked myself up directly to our satellite modem to eliminate the last problem possibility on our end (I eliminated the husband's help this time, but that apparently was not the problem either). With the router removed, I still get the problems from home on my desktop and my laptop computers. At work, my laptop still works fine.

The connection at work is a wireless router environment, and the ISP is from Charter Communications cable internet. At home, as stated before, we use satellite from Hugesnet.com (formally Direcway.com). It is very irritating not being able to use the character feature on the WoW Reader from home.

Please let me know ASAP for a fix for this.

Thanks a lot!

Im getting the Protocol 0 error as well. The Lua Creature data doesn't seem to increment or decrease at all... just hangs eventually with the error.
