A friend with a 60 mage found out having an epic in org is as good as an open invite for lowbies to ask for gold. One very determined newb was asked to help summon a friend for the 5 gold he was asking. We told him to just click the portal and dont move. I hope he enjoyed his trip to TB.

Thought I could solo WC ("what the heck is that dragon around that monster's picture?").

My warrior wore a cloth dress for 3 levels. I kept it because I wanted INT because I didnt want people to see my stats and say Im dumb.

"What's a guild?"

Spent all my lvl 40 mount money on lvl 40 plate ("Yeh it's dumb but I'll be so much better at pvp!)

Up until 3 monthes ago...I had no idea how to speak in general, trade and LFG chat. If I needed a group I yelled for one.

Almost lost to a guy 6 levels lower than me in an XC duel. Not really newbness but still...

I have a few real stupid ones I made when I was in the lower levels and some very embarrasing ones that I made as a 60 so for all purposes of avoiding being flamed I'm gonna shut up about those.

I leveled my hunter up to about 29 without ever doing an instance. The first one I did was gnomeregan. I didn't understand how aggro worked because I had always fought one mob at a time. Everything was okay until we got to the dark iron dwarves. I decided to try out my new multi-shot skill to do extra damage. The group wouldn't even rez me after that.

I leveled my warrior up to 20 solo, so I knew nothing of stances. Some people invited me to tank, but I had no clue about how to use my skills to hold aggro. Yes, there were many choice words directed at me that day. After the group wiped, I discretely rezzed at the graveyard and disappeared into obscurity. I retired from playing warrior because the memories pain me.

I had never seen a blue item drop for my class, so I was used to rolling greed on everything. I was playing my priest and a really good BOP blue healing item dropped from a boss (don't remember what) and of course I roll greed. A rogue wins the greed roll and gets a what for him is a junk blue. Everyone is whispering "Why didn't you roll NEED?" to me. Ah, that is what the other button is for!

selling wildvine to npc or letting these rot only to realize the wildvine goes for several gold a piece!

A couple of my favourites.

- Walking into WPL at level 10 and wondering why that bear is charging so fast at me. (Why the hell is it so close to TF anyway!?)
- Rolling an Alliance Paladin
- Thinking with my Hunter I had to equip the skinning knife to skin...
- Buying the slots in the bank but not putting in a bag, was wondering why I couldn't put more things in there...
- Getting drunk and listening to a few party members when they said my Voidwalker could tank in SFK so we didn't need a tank. Crash wipe much?
- And my favourite, selling Recipe: Cooked Deviate Fish on the AH for 50s OB and 1g 50s BO. I was so happy! My first gold! I then got a /w from the guy saying he would have paid 15g...
- Oh, and an even better one. Selling Recipe: Lifestealing Enchant for 125g :X I could have sold it for 1500g...

Yeah, I'm not a great business man.

where to begin...

- had to ask a friend what RFC meant (and why people were asking me if I wanted to...)

- Charged into a sheep pull and promptly set of a thunderclap

- Leeroy'd the party by charging the boss before everyone was set.

- was taught how to tank by a mage

- Thought you needed to have a skinning knife to do the lowbie pelt collecting quest (btw gathering quests SUCK BALLS!!!)

I'm just going to go crawl under a rock now... STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT!!!

Well, i was about level 30 before i went and got Defensive Stance. I got the quest at level 10, but i never did it because it sounded scary and i thought i'd die (also, i had no idea where it meant to go - even though i'd been in that graveyard many times).

At level 12 or something, decided to go to Orgrimarr from UC and what do you know, i end up in Grom Gol. I assumed it'd be the furthest away one because they usually are. Didn't understand how the Goblin guys pretty much tell you where they go. I thought he was talking about the other one hehe.

Well, my favourite BG tactic, which i like to call the "grez" will probably be considered pretty newbish. I kinda find running up to a huge group of allies and intercepting the guy right at the back funny, and trying to drop an Intimidating Shout before i die.

Took me forever to figure out how to talk in general etc

In WSG picked up the flag right in front of a shaman/dr00d. I've gotta say that REALLY annoyed my now-friend Salizar hehe.

Man, leave your thread for a while and it grows big and strong. :P

Heres a couple more:

Playing my Druid through SM I didn't roll NEED on Doan's staff (Illusionary Rod) despite it being a massive upgrade because I didn't want to seem like a ninja in a PUG. I was also the only one who would actually USE a staff in the party. He refused to drop it the next few times but I did get it running a bud through at 60. ROFL

Out of respect for a guildmate I will not completely share his story but I will say this: put the names of your alts (especially bank toons) on your friends list so when you send them something you don't accidently spell the wrong name and give gold or gear to some random person. If they're on your friends list the mail system will autofill the name for you. This means you can tell if something is mispelled BECAUSE you have to spell it out completely.

On my first character I waited until level 20 to get bags because I thought I didn't really need them. On that same character I couldn't figure out how to talk on the channels until around level 25 when I asked my gf who also plays the game.

I was straight out of Deathnell couldn't of been more than lvl 8. Well my lvl 60 friend came and we were talking. She kept telling me to use party chat and I didnt' know what she was talking about I was just talking in tells. Than very patiently told me to type /p. Also she gave me 5 gold and bought me 4 8 slot bags. I blew all the gold on merchant armor. Well and a guild tabard.

My very first character on WoW. I thought you could only pick 2 professions. So I picked First Aid and Cooking. I gained close to 200 in each skill level. When a guild officer asked me what are my professions. I proudly said "I am level 200 on both First Aid and cooking. He let a big sigh* and said those are secondary professions. Good thing he told me early cause, I was still a level 31 priest. And was about to give up on them.

Till this day, I crack up everytime a new member gets confused with primary and secondary professions. It's even funnier when, they think we are lieing.

hah when I first started playing when I looked at chat I thought everyone that was talking was a general because of the general before their name so I thought only high ranking players could talk in there lol

My first toon was a NE priest. I was going to blackfathom depths with a low level group. We made it in and I got whacked by the turtle boss on the island. Of course the only person to die was the only person who can rez. So I am doing the ole run back to my body. When I got to the part where you have to swim under water to get to the cavern, I couldn't figure out how to get a ghost to go under water to go that way. It took about a half an hour for someone who knew what I was talking about to coach me thru it. Had to do the "Who wants to be a millionaire", call a friend lifeline, and ask them over the phone.

It was way back in 2005 near the middle of the year (june, july I don't remember) I was just starting my warrior. Everything was fine until I asked what WoW stood for. I still haven't lived that down, nor have my guildies let me.

Getting 400g from a guy quiting the server then deleting the character thinking it's easy to regain. . .

Hmm...2 things come to mind

When I first started the game, I didn't understand how "Soulbound" items worked. I thought for some reason that if I equipped an item that binded to me, I would never be able to get rid of it, and I decided I should wait for higher level before I put on any gear that bound to me. So for my first 15-20 levels or so my paladin was running around in vendor bought whites.....

Also, I was under the impression that "holy" damage only worked against undead, so my paladin wasn't using any seals until around level 30 when I ran Gnomer once and got called a noob by the other paladin in the party. It still amazes me that I managed to level to my 30s without using any seals and just using base melee damage.

I was a little level 6 gnome mage(who is now deleted) and I walked up to Gnomer and saw the ?? gnomes. I thought some enemies had some special effect that wouldn't allow you to see their level so I thought I'd try to kill them. Needless to say I died.

And running VC the first few times I thought greed was prioritized over need rolls, so I rolled need on virtually everything, including mail, shields, and cruel barb. Then one day someone pointed out that need meant I actually needed it.
I also didn't figure out how to use a soulstone on my lock until about level 30. I thought just having it in my inventory would let me rez.

I was in Ratchet for one of the first times (lvl 15 or something), the first neutral town I saw, so I was very curious about allies that were passing by. And then I saw this level ?? NE in epic gear and wanted to know what he was wearing. So I kept clicking on him, not understanding why I couldn't see anything... My staff accidentally hurt him, a ratchet bruiser rushed on me, and so did the NE :P

When i came back to life, i wanted to explain to the guy that it was an error. I was told by my friends that emotes were the only way to communicate with allies, so i type

/e was an error

You got the idea lol

He laughed at me, so did I ^^

Lol....on my first char, NE druid(28), I had no idea what stamina, intellect, spirit..... meant,I though it was all armor that counts, so I had a couple of grey items that had higher armor than uncommon armor with +stamina......so I lol'd now.
