Rofl.

That pretty much made my day.

Although mine aren't nearly as bad as some, given I check WoW out alooot before I got into it, they're still pretty bad.
Technically, I am still a newb(n00b?) as my highest level character is 22, =D,I still don't know what more than half of these abbreviations stand for.
But anyways. I remember getting to level 16 or so, and being like, 'FTW, WHY CAN'T I JOIN GENEREAL CHAT!?!' When it's so obvious. I felt like a complete idiot.

Everyone knows how the creatures in the starting areas don't go aggro on you unless you attack them first, right?
Well I thought it was the same for every monster.
Enough said.

Getting to UC, getting lost for 30 minutes in the elevator area. I realized I had been going to that trick door that closes as soon as you get to it, over and over and over...

That's basically it, although I'm sure my stories of newbness will not end there.
=]

lol i got some.... My first char was a tauren and in the rights of the earth mother quest there is something about needing to finish it before going to TB. Once i walked all the way there and the lift went up right before me! I though I would need to finish quest before it would let me on lol so I never went to TB. Done the exact same with UC thought i needed to be friendly before i entered as the door closed for lifts just when i walked up to it. I got alot of others like just learned how to teach my pet skills the other day lol about level 20.

Well... I got a couple.

First character was an UD warrior. Got alch because I thought I would have infinate potions so I would never die. I also got eng because I wanted bombs. Nuff said. Gave up.

Second was Orc Hunter, because I wanted a pet. Named him Xxlegolasxx. Leveled to 29 not knowing what an instance was.

Got as much +arcane damage as I could for arcane shots.

I kept seeing people talk in "General" I had NO idea what it was, so I would look around, thinking someone was talking to me.

I thought night elf chicks were hot.

Horde were mean to me, so I rerolled an alliance gnome warlock because I thought they were the "good guys" so they would be nice to me. They wern't. =(

Made ANOTHER warlock (UD) cause I saw a succubus and thought it was hot. Learned about instances, and found out warriors were the only horde that could wear mail. I was greedy, so I rolled a tauren (cause they looked funny) warrior thinking no one could ever steal my gear. I'm am currently a level 60 tauren warrior. No epic mount. =(

EDIT: This didn't happen to me, but it was on my warrior. Cobrahn's Grasp dropeed in WC, and I was the only warrior so I was like "YES!! AWESOME GEAR!" So... I needed. And, the Hunter needed it also. He told me he needed it for level 40..

Well well

i have been playing for over a week now, i rolled horde, and i decided that it was better if i seen the whole world so i started to walk from TB to trisfal glades, i got in to azhara and died a thousand deaths at lvl 13, then i decided to actually remain dead cos i kept dying when i rez'd and go to another cemetry and rez but instead after a long walk and finding one i rezd back to the same place. took me 2 whole hours to fig a way out of there and then realised i had a hearthstone...><

another one is i didn't know that u cud learn skills every even level.

didn't know the diff between greed and need, kept click on greed when i desparately wanted an item and realised later more pref is givin to those in need :(

well there a lot more rite now but i can't remember...but meh im still a noob maybe it will take me a month of playin to learn this game atleast 50%.

glcuk to the all the newbies and hope the oldies help them :D

when i first started playing i couldn't figure out how to equip items so i would put them in my spell toolbar and it worked. i thought i was hot **** until my brother, lvl 60 shadow priest Toot, saw what i was doing and was like ,"WTF are u retarted". i propmtly replied that i was and he showed me the proper way to equip things.

I didn't know green items were better and could earn me good money so I was destroying everything I didn't need until I understood the item value system.
Also I didn't knew of Non-Combat Pets so I economised my money til I had 50s to buy a coakroach. Thought it would give good buffs... spent 50s for nothing...

More: I didn't know what did the Gold and Silver Dragons (elite and rare symbols) mean. I attacked Ressan the rare bat and he used his silence on me and killed me easily so I thought silver dragon means very strong mob... hahaha

Some last ones: I didn't know how to transfer spells to my action bar so I was longly fighting with my spellbook open. I got the trick later...
I firstly didn't know that you just need to run to your corpse to rez. Then i tried it, lost the spirit healer, couldn't find my corpse and panicked. I then noticed the red arrow on my minimap pointing to my corpse...

Well, a few days ago, I was headed to WPL to get some herbs and I see this level 6-ish (less than 10) player walking twords the plaguelands. I say "What are you doing? You're gonna die if you go in there." He says, "I need to get to Booty Bay to redeem my WoW Trading Card." I invite him into the group, open a portal to Org., tell him to hop in. When we get to Org., I ask him, "What FPs do you have?" He says, "None. I've only been playing about a week." So, I help him. We grab the Org. FP, proceed to X-roads for that FP, then I walked him to Ratchet and got that FP. We hopped the boat to Booty Bay (oops...I fell in the water /blush but I made it back onto the boat) and when we got there I got him the FP there. He was looking for the guy to talk to about the card, I didn't know where he was, but I looked it up on here. Finally, after about 10 minutes of actually walking around and trying to find him, I spotted him and told him, "Hey, he's over here." He got his tabard thing and I go "Well, I'm going to open a portal to the Undercity for you....since that is where you should be questing and killing and such." He got back to Undercity and he goes, "Thanks! I would've been so lost without the help!"

I felt like I did a good thing. :) And, he only died once during the whole thing... I kinda didn't notice that he had aggro until it was too late.

(Not really a noob story, but in a way, sorta.)

I already posted it somewhere else but this looks the right place to tell my story...
I am a lvl 29 lock, yesterday I was in darkshire trying to kill that damn stalvan (while it was him actually killing me over and over).
at a point, a horde player called Oktay seeing me in diffulcty kills him for me, allowing me to get the ring to finish my quest.
knowing that alliance and horde can't talk, I click on him and /bow.
then I get close to /bow him again and my voidwalker in aggressive mode attacks him!
so there is this incredulous tauren that sees a lock bowing him while his minion is currently attacking him
needless to say, I got killed in less than a second.

Thanks for all the "heads up" messages posted here guys! This is good stuff for a guy like me to read (because I am a total noob in this game), and points out a lot of things I need to make myself aware of.

Currently I'm one of those FFXI bums, playing WoW on the 10 day trial, and falling more in love with my Orcan Shaman every day. I can see why so many FFXI people switch to WoW.

heh.

i've been playing about a week, with no help other than the occasional tip from a few friends at work...

i thought skills just showed up, so i was lvl 10 before i bought any...

i didn't realize quests gave xp's, so i never bothered to go back for the rewards, because a few copper or silver seemed a waste of time..

i thought the minimap was the only map, and didn't understand the hearthstone, so i spent a lot of time wandering around, lost, getting cranky and killing so many things, that i was level 13 before i found the undercity...

heh - i went up two levels in brill, just completing quests, and then made another warlock go "wtf!?!?!?" when i bought a ton of skills for me and my imp... i still hadn't gotten my voidwalker quest until nearly lvl16

oh. and yesterday, after i hit 18, i discovered talents.

I'm still kind of a newb, but n e way, I have a troll hunter, and taught him skinning and leatherworking, didn't know how to use leatherworking until I was already a master skinner. I got so excited that I could skin what I killed that I forgot to learn how to use the leather, so I just kept selling it until my friend told me how to use it. I was lvl 20 with 0 leatherworking and 175 skinning. I have since compensated and spent my next 4 levels just skinning and leatherworking. Now I'm back to where I should have been. but I still haven't touched my fishing or first-aid professions, they're still 0. lol

Hehe..funny thread. Here's a few:

I was searching for mining spots in the mountains of Northern Barrens (didn't know about the find minerals button) and ended up in Ashenvale. That was the first time I was ever in a contested area and was so scared. I must have died like 10 times trying to get back to the Barrens.

I was fishing in Thunder Bluff while in the queue for WSG. I got the message to enter the BG, so I caught my last fish and entered the BG which was already in progress. For about 5 minutes I was attacking people with my fishing pole :P

When I was questing around Brill at lvl 7 I wandered into the plaguelands and got eaten by a bear. I vowed to come back for revenge, and at level 30 I went back but got eaten by the same bear.

After the first time I was ganked by an Ally, I kept trying to send him a tell to talk crap to him, but couldn't figure out why it wouldn't let me. Took me to about lvl 25 before I figured out ally were too stupid to understand my language :P

This was definitely the best thread I ever started. AWESOME stories and hopefully some help to either people starting out or who weren't smart enough to bang two rocks together when presented with a situation (like those of us who've posted :P).

I can't really think of any more big newb moments but I do recall thinking BRD was LBRS and LBRS was UBRS and had no clue where BRD was.

ok this is not exactly a newb thing but I think it's funny anyway.
yesterday I finally completed my quest for the felhunter.
full of emotion I summon it...
it appears...
I check on the name...
OH-MY-GOD
'KHAAGUUN'
now, this name will not mean anything for the most part of you, but I'm italian, and in italian KHAAGUUN souns pretty much like CAGONE, which is a person that ***** too much... not eactly a resounding name that should instill fear in the heart of the enemies...
I want my money back!!!
