The point of this thread is to post something you didn't know about when you were a NEWb (BIG differece from being a n00b) that you look back and laugh at now.

I had no idea what spirit rezzing was when I first started and spent over an hour running back to my body over and over again after falling off a cliff in Darnassus. I also had no clue higher level mobs/opponents could see you through your stealth and my Rogue died many, mant times from this.

I spent 2 days at level 11, running around in Mulgore, because I didn't know where to go, what to do or what to see. I then found out I could actually do some more quests, and move on to XR.

My first character was a shaman. I played him to level 12, and was about to enter The Barrens. I do so, and discover some level 17-23 Lizards. Got scared, deleted my Shaman and created a new Shaman. (Same class). I did that exactly 4 times before I got help there.

When I first started playing, I was terrified of the AH, I didn't know what price to put items up for, however after spending one evening on Allakhazam, I'm now able to cut some sweet G's out of the AH.

Also when I first started I eventually got to the point where i would go into the dead mines (a lvl18-20ish alliance instance). Whenever a green or blue poped up for a roll I automatically rolled need (not knowing that there was an option for greed. After getting yelled at numerous times for doing this I finally realized that there were two buttons to roll for the item with. Now I always roll greed unless the item will upgrade my toon.

I had to tell a Hunter in my guild to stop needing everything and he was 36ish at the time. His response was “I NEED the money so that’s why I need everything” which I thought was pretty funny. I was able to persuade him that it would get him kicked from almost any group and that need was there for something you need to USE, not sell, and he relented. He solos a lot but with all the dungeons and elite quests out there he’ll be teaming more so I’m glad I was able to help out before he got a bad rep.

A buddy of mine made it to the 40s before he realized that you could get new abilities every other level. He had just never paid attention to the levels abilities were available.

When I first got my drain soul for my warlock, I kept draining the souls of things way lower than me and wondering why I wasn't getting shards.
This is my first online rpg and I wasn't familure with the professions and stuff, so I bought tailoring and cooking. I didn't realize until about lvl 25 that cooking was secondary and I could get another skill.

I got my fishing up over 200 before I realized I had to actually "click and apply" the bobbers to my pole. I just thought having them on me, and seeing a bobber in the water was enough.

(ack!)

Then again I had just switched over from EQ, so nothing seemed really tedious. Even bobber-less fishing. lol

my warrior missed the class quest that gets you to sunder lvl 1 and kept wondering why all trainers only had lvl 2 for purchase, the first time someone noticed i didnt use rend for tanking was in scarlet monastery so i actually wrote a ticket,... the GM was actually very nice about it and told me it was a quest reward i got it asap, no wonder i was always losing aggro before.

Having played EQ for over 5 years before comming to WoW I cant say that there was much I wasnt aware of...plus I read a ton about WoW before I ever started playing. My noob story comes from EQ...I remember starting a human warrior in Freeport...got tired of killing bats and snakes so i decided to adventure a little further out and was promptly met by a black bear...kicked my *** so I decided to make a dwarf Cleric instead. Stuck with him til I came here. Well thats my story!

Back in my quest to get Druid sea-lion form(Tauren), I needed to get half a pendant from the water off the coast of Silverpine forest. When I look at the map I'm all," Dude that's a long effing way," and the only way I knew of to get to the Eastern Kingdoms was the boat from Ratchet to Booty Bay, and then I would go the whole effing way up through there to get to Silverpine Forest.

So I cross the sea, start walking through BB as a level 16 Druid, and get ganked. Well, I'm afraid to raise in BB itself, so I figure no one will be at the graveyard. So I raise in the graveyard... and die immediately. Now my body is in the graveyard and everytime I raise there I get killed. So I says to myself, "I'll just wlak up to Silverpine in Ghost form and raise at their graveyard." So I start walking. I walk through STV and into duskwood. At this point I figure I'll check my map. I get pissed because the map is essentially blank because it does not discover while you be dead, so all I got is the outlines of an area. As I walk through Duskwood I see a graveyard and think, "Maybe I should try to raise at the graveyard, maybe I'll get sent back to Booty Bay." But instead of testing this thought, I decide to just keep going. I get lost in the Blasted Lands, no map, remember. ANd it takes me an hour to get out of it. I eventually get to Silverpine after about 2 days of walking(I am NOT exaggerating).

I find the graveyard and... S***!!!!!! I'm back in STV!!! And I die... AGAIN!!! I had to wait until Tuesday maintainence, get on immediately after it finished, and then hop on the boat before I could get back to Kalimdor.

Eventually I learned about the ZEPPLIN!!! But that was after a loooong time.
