I uninstalled it because the "addons" button at character selection screen made me a little nervous, I don't want anything running while I play WoW. But the button is still there, any ideas?

I've tried duplicating your problem by having wow only installed on a second drive, and didn't get any error. Can you go into regedit and check the value of the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WowReader\wowdir"? It should help me track down the problem.

That key is present, but is empty. (no data at all).

Manually editing the value to E:\World of Warcraft\ results in correct program operation.

For some reason, WowReader just doesn't want to set that on its own on my system, even though I select the directory in the File|Location menu..

EDIT: I did manage to get it to upload (after realizing I'd changed my password since installing it). It said it uploaded everything, and it's all moved over to the 'old' column - but no character profile on the website.

EDIT AGAIN: Ok, profile showed up with the latest upload I did... the first one didn't seem to take, but it's there now.

Hey Illia, I hope you could check out why http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?14177 doesn't update while http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?41539 does with no issues? If there's anything I can do on my end, let me know.

Because, you haven't logged out of that character before uploading. I see three recent profile uploads from you: adding Malja, and two updates on Jokta. You likely logged out of Jokta before uploading both times.

Actually Illia, I have logged out of that character multiple times. A couple times in the past 2 weeks in fact. This time though, I actually did changes to my equipment between uploads and that may have finally changed things.

I keep getting the same errors over and over again.. any idea what the following mean and how to correct them?

This one seems to kick in when I am first launching the program:

Quote:
Error downloading update: The underlying connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved.

This one after I click the upload button once the program has launched:

Quote:
Connection Error: The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have the correct associated data being resolved for

Can I please get some help with this issue?

WoW Reader uploaded data but nothing doesn't appear at my char-page: http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?51141

I'm using european (german) version of WoW.
Is this a language/location problem? Or is it within my installation? Firewall is set correctly, the login while uploading is successful ... because char name and realm are uploaded correcly.

I'm still having this problem with the updater. Any chance to have the renaming of _wowreader.exe changed to something that doesn't change it's file name extension? I'm using windows 98.

Anyword on this problem would be great

Not sure why this is ,but the patch is 4216 not 4222 , i no it reads 4222 at login screeen . but for some reason my addons had to be set at 4216.

I no you no what your doing i'm not going there .

this first time ive seen this happen, i guess because i now have the addons the way i want them . i m sure it has happen sense . nov 23 but i have been just been waiting and learning.

and i now just edited my own TOC.

I finally got around to installing wow reader and it has uploaded a lot of stuff from the cache, but it only uploaded 1 character profile, the one I last logged in with. Do I need to log in to each character, quit, upload, rinse and repeat? I have logged in to at least 2 of the other characters since I downloaded and installed wow reader.

Thanks for a great site :)

Anduli: Can you post your class and race exactly as it appears in german, along with the english equivilent? Because the classes and races are localized, we need to know the exact names to support them all.

Skinnyman: I made some changes to the updater today which I think should help. You may have to redownload the installer and reinstall to get the latest version for now, tho.

krustyfur: Yes, it only captures 1 profile at a time, the one you last logged in as.

Hello

I too have the german version and only see a blank char page!
here are the Races/Classes

English Racesnames

Dwarves | Gnomes | Humans | Night Elves | Orcs | Tauren | Trolls | Undead

German Racesnames

Zwerge | Gnome | Menschen | Nachtelfen | Orcs | Tauren | Trolle | Untote

Here are the Classes

English Classnames

Druid | Hunter | Mage | Paladin | Priest | Rogue | Shaman | Warlock | Warrior

German Classnames

Druide | Jäger | Magier | Paladin | Priester | Schurke | Schamane | Hexenmeister | Krieger

I hope I did not forget anything :)

EDIT: Also, "Level" is in the German Version "Stufe", maybe this is why i'm always a level 0 char here at allakhazam :)

And, as the item names are translated too, will it ever be possible for non-english clients to publish their chars here on allakhazam with all items being listed? Because allakhazam "only" knows the english name of the items..
cheers

Mmm, My char profile has only the armor value in the Search Profiles listing.

No sta, no int, no hp, no mana... But in the profile it has all those values, so they are up there... somewhere.

It is hard to be the last one on almost every order :) .

Yumok, dwarf priest in Aggama.. something

as jekaboom already posted the translations, in now add some more stuff for you to make your wow-reader work with the german game installation :-)

Strength = Kraft
Agility = Beweglichkeit
Stamina = Ausdauer
Intellect = Intellekt
Spirit = Willenskraft
Armour = Rüstung

Melee Atttack = Nahkampfangriff
Distance Attack = Distanzangriff
Power = Stärke
Damage = Schaden

Character = Charakter
Skills = Fertigkeiten
Talents = Talente
Reputation = Ruf

Hope this helped a little bit.

ok new wowreader user here.. install of the app went fine except for two things

1) the interface folder containing the wr addon directory were created off the root of my D: drive not in the D:\Program Files\World of Warcraft directory (easily fixed.. i moved the folder to it's proper location)

2) when i run wowreader and tell it where my Wow.exe file is i get back the following error "Error during SavedVariables search using base '\WTF\Account\': Could not find a part of the path '\WTF\Account'

this i can not fix.. i have installed wowreader to D:\Program Files\WowReader please help!

Fixed, thanks.

Thanks for the translation stuff, I'm in Germany next week, so should be able to pick up a copy of European Wow.

glasswalkerny: I've been trying to track down the bug you described, but so far havent been able to. For a workaround, you can use regedit to manually set the value of the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WowReader\wowdir" to "D:\Program Files\World of Warcraft", and it should work ok after that.
