I believe the problem is it's trying to rename the file from a .exe to a .old When i do this manually i get a msg asking if I'm sure i want to do this cause it could cause errors the auto update is just getting a access denied. anyway the updater could rename it to _wowreaderold.exe?

Well it was working right again. but now he is again hanging on downloading wowreader.exe

Is there something in firewall or nat setting that can block it?
Wowreader.exe has access in the firewall so i don't see the problem.

Log file of patch.log is not saying annything about failing.

I have a problem updating my wowreader. It tries to download patch.xml but I only get a error message:

Error downloading update: The underlying connection was closed: unable to connect to the remote server.

My firewall doesn't block it.

patch log says:

Patch log - 17.2.2005 14:11:38
Application Directory: D:\Program Files\WowReader
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600.0
Runtime: v1.1.4322
Runtime Directory: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\

DownloadFile: patch.xml (patch)

I'd like to know what is wrong and can i do something about it like manually updating the files.

Mine is updating OK, but since the patch my data is not reflected in the Alla Profile. It shows that the information is being sent, but it's not really updating the profile. Do I need to reinstall WowReader?

I don't see a login from you in the wowreader log since the patch, can you check that your username/pw is set correctly? I'm not sure why it would become unset.

Hayt: the last character I see uploaded from you is Aryna on the 16th

Yeah, that's a character I created last night. But my main (Elendyl) is not updating for some reason.

Can I ask what's changed on the profile? Trying to nail down why I don't see a profile upload from you.

My initial thought is that you launched wow after the patch, then patched wowreader, played on your main toon for a while then logged out and uploaded your data. In that order, wow wouldn't have loaded the UI extension which captures player profile data.

You need to launch wow after patching wowreader so that the UI Addon is updated before wow launches. (Which you've since done, as the alt showed up)

It says my main hasn't updated since February 15th, and that's accurate because I now have higher skills in my professions, and am wearing 3 different pieces of armor than what is reflected in the Alla profile. I may have done the update in the order you said above. I'm thinking that since it is showing a character that I just created last night (a day after the patch), that if I delete my main on Alla and re-upload using WoWReader it should be up to date and back to normal.

That should work, right?

There is no need to delete, just launch wowreader, launch wow, enter world, exit world, hit upload. All of which should happen in order if you launch wow from the icon on the wowreader window.

Apparently that was it, somehow I got logged out.

I cannot use WoWReader because of an error, "Could not find a part of the path "\WTF\Account\". Like several others having similar problems, I have WoW installed to the E:\World of Warcraft directory, not to the default directory on C:. I think somehow wowreader is ignoring the drive and looking in the wrong place. Going back to File|Location and reselecting wow.exe in the proper directory (E:\World of Warcraft\) does no good, I still get that error.

Can we at LEAST get a confirmation on this problem, that it is going to eventually, maybe, be fixed?

aelfwyne: I've tried duplicating your problem by having wow only installed on a second drive, and didn't get any error. Can you go into regedit and check the value of the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WowReader\wowdir"? It should help me track down the problem.

AngstyCoder: The counter bug on failed uploads is only cosmetic. It's on my list to be fixed, but its not really hurting anything for now.

Hello, I have a small problem when I run WoWreader.

It goes through an update process and only goes up to "patch.xml Downloaded" and then nothing happens after that. If I close the program, it writes to the patch log file and the following contents are this:

Patch log - 18/02/2005 19:47:03
Application Directory: C:\Program Files\WowReader
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600.0
Runtime: v1.1.4322
Runtime Directory: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\

DownloadFile: patch.xml (patch)

I'd really like to contribute to the database so please help if you can.

I'm also having trouble getting my alts to update.

Melador, the first character I used after installing Wowreader uploaded fine, but I've since done the login/logout/update cycle with my other two (Oddig and Quibble), and they're not showing up. In fact, after doing that cycle Wowreader showed no data to upload at all.

Any ideas?

(fantastic site, btw!)

I downloaded Wowreader almost at day one and have had zero problem seeing my char or uploading info. I have had one problem though and that is after doing a upload and seeing my char in all her glory :) j/k I like to see how she compares to other char of same or more levels, and I have found that the amount of mana and hps or health my char shows on the comparison list is not the same as shows on my profile picture. I checked other profiles and see that they match up on picture and on the list, so my question is why are my stats consideralbly lower then they show in game and on the picture of items etc?

I followed directions on updating profile yet it did'nt update it
Is there a certain time i have to wait for it to be updated?

Can you give me a profile ID? I'll look into it.

WoWreader actually seems to work fine, but all the numbers read 0. I launch wowreader, click the W button (starts WoW), login, enter world, logout, alt-tab to wowreader and hit upload. It goes through a cycle and then says Profile Uploaded or somesuch. All numbers read 0 0 0 (n/a for Old Lua data of course). Tried hitting refresh, still just 0. Profile appears though: http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?50176.

Neronix: What you described sounds like a firewall of some sort is blocking the connection. Do you have zonealarm or something similar set to block outgoing connections, for example?

#149 Feb 20 2005 at 3:27 AM Rating: Decent
I have the same problem than Neronix and I don't have any firewall programs that could block the connection (only have Norton and it allows access). I had little problems with my .net frameworks and I wonder if that could cause the problem.
#150 Feb 20 2005 at 3:56 AM Rating: Decent
Nope, I have no firewalls, or any other thing that's commonly known for networking problems.

Hey Illia, I hope you could check out why http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?14177 doesn't update while http://wow.allakhazam.com/profile.html?41539 does with no issues? If there's anything I can do on my end, let me know.
