I just tracked down the bug that was causing the db file and memory usage to start to climb rapidly after running for a while. A new version is now up on the patcher that fixes it, and should clean up any old .db's that were affected by it.

Re: Version mismatches. The european beta is 1 patch ahead of the rest of us, so I can't update it till NA gets the patch aswell.

i have the same problem, although with me, if i look in add-ons (this also goes for the cosmos) it says there is a "version mismatch" is there a site with extra updates accept the ones the program runs?

Just out of curiosity, is there a possibility of a linux WoW reader as well? Since WoW works in cedega, there are some players on linux too. :) A GUI would probably be the biggest compatibility issue, but then, it probably isn't necessary. Anyone with the patience to use cedega should be able to figure out a command line program easily enough. ;)

Edit: Sorry if I should have posted this in the other thread; I wasn't sure which would be the most pertinent place to post.

There will probably be problems with using it with european beta until the north american version is updated to have the same patch that you guys have. I can't update wowreader to accept the next version number until then.

k well thanks for the help, we'll just have to wait till it is updated then :D

Ok, maybe I am just dense, which, is totally possible considering the time of morning it is, but I am having a problem with the wowreader that is similar to some of these other ones posted except I seem to be logged in according to the /wver command in game. Everything acts as if it is available, etc. However, in the wowreader program box Lua Data is n/a. Nothing shows up for it at all regardless of what I do. It has been patch, logged in, logged out, redled, etc, nothing is working, hence, my profile is not uploading.

Did I miss something?

#62 Feb 02 2005 at 6:29 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, I got my profile to upload and what not through plain old persistence.

I still wonder, why is Lua Data n/a?

and

Can we get a better cow icon? I mean, they are ugly enough already, lol.

and

Is there or will there be a way to add extras to our profiles if we know how to code? or Do I just need to make my own page on my own site to list extra info?

>> I still wonder, why is Lua Data n/a?

OK, I've seen this asked before too, so let me explain. There are 4 columns in wowreader's ui: Type, Old, Waiting, Uploaded. And there are rows for items, quests, creatures, and lua. Items, quests and creatures refer to data from .wdb files that gets uploaded and then marked so that it isn't uploaded again on the next upload. Lua data is stuff from SavedVariables.lua thats saved out of the wow ui plugin, and is all stuff that gets uploaded once and then deleted. The Old column keeps a count of the number of items, quests and creatures that have been marked as uploaded and havent changed since then. For lua data, there simply is no 'old' data kept around. Thus, the old column says "n/a" (not applicable) for lua.

Continuing to have problems. Heck, I even deleted my character just in the off-case that there might be some weird version mismatch. I even tried to profile one of my alts to no avail.

So as it stands:
-New installer.
-New install (even purged the wr folder out of interface/addons).
-Logged in.
-Receieved "WoWReader Loaded."
-Played the game.
-Logged out.
-Ran WoWReader.
-All sorts of data, all the old and the new.
-Clicked Upload.
-Upload successful.
-Checked "Your Characters," nothing.

I even rinsed and repeated, works for shampoo...but got nothing to show for it. Anymore light to shed Rale?

Thanks!

just FYI

if i change the WR.toc file from 4150 to 4196, and load WoWreader it changes the number back to 4150.
oh and if i open WoWreader, and change my password (yes i selected "log in")
and hit "save", if i look at it a second later it says that my password is like 14 digits long instead of my 5 digit PW...

Ok, it seems the WoWReader is getting more and more bogged down.
It can take up to 1 min to even run up... This is on an AMD 64 3000 with 1GB ram... Then press the upload button and it can take up to 2 min to get through the process...

Just a heads up since I havent seen a post about this.

Now, for a suggestion. In addition to having the WoWReader be able to upload more than just the last character you camped from. It would be nice if it could upload info on tradeskills. list of all known patterns or recipies. It would be a sweet addition so I can research the ones I am missing to find out where they are dropping or where I can buy them.

thanks for a great site, keep up the hard work.

k well i fixed the version mismatch,

instead of editing the version in the WoWreader folder, i edited it in the interface/addons/wr folder.

only problem is that every time you start wowreader it will update itself back to 4150 (instead of Euro 4196), so you have to edit it everytime you use wowreader.

and behold!:

Krycis: Did you set login/pw again after reinstalling? The logs don't show any recent connections from your login.

It always says: Error creating window handle.

errormessage: (this comes for my friends too)

See the end of this message for details on invoking

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

reinstallet NET too, same problem.

i downloaded wow reader and it worked great the first time. the next day i try to open it and the updater runs through, after that it just sits at the desktop... i click a button and the updater runs through again... wierd.. this time though i get errors saying it does not have access to the old file or something. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the whole process starts over.. what am i doing wrong?
#75 Feb 04 2005 at 9:25 PM Rating: Decent
Still isn't working for me. I uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. Everytime I upload, all the numbers move to the Old column.

Items: 7913
Quests: 706
Creatures: 4167

You can see it's been building up for a while.

None of my characters have updated. My main is now lvl 46 and shows as 42 here.
