Hitting upload today gives me errors.

The program freezes as if it were not responding first of all, hence something is wrong with this program. Then the program says ( Not Responding ) confirming my suspicions, then ends in this error:
Unable to read data from the transport connection.

Goodgame.

This is a result of the client application waiting (exclusively) for the connection to be formed with the application we run which accepts connections. At times of high load, this wait can exceed how long the client app is instructed to wait, the result is the app will appear to freeze while trying to connect to our server, and then probably not connect.

We're working on the issue. Meanwhile, wait a few minutes and try again.

Et merci pour les nommes en francise!

Heres a day in the life of an enduser of WoWReader...

I have all of the issues listed in this forums so far I have also tried all of the fixes.

Fix this problem soon please. The only reason I bother subscribing to Allakhazam is for this service and to help support it.

Gotta love these 'generic' errors that are almost completely meaningless. Gosh is it me or you? Who knows...

Items: 0 - 6631 - 0
Quests: 0 - 168 - 0
Creatures: 0 - 2315 - 0
Lua Data: 0 - 24 - 96

Click "Upload"
Connecting...

"Connection error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

Clicked "Ok"
lets try again....

Click "Upload"
Connecting...

"Connection error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

Clicked "Ok"
lets try again....

Click "Upload"
Connecting...

"Connection error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond."

Clicked "Ok"

Click "Upload"
Connecting...

and so on and so on... round in round in a circle.. where she stops no body knows...

The only thing that seems consistant is the Lua Data "Upload" field seems to increment after I get the above errors.

Ok lets try killing the wowreader.db file.

Turn off WowReader
Start -> Programs -> Local Disk (C:) -> Program Files -> WoWReader

Well now, aint that interesting. There is no wowreader.db file in the directory.

Odd, I tried restarting Wowreader just now and its got me on "Updater" with an error downloading "patch.xml" which says "Error downloading update: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to remote server."

Man, this just seems to get better and better :)

Click "OK"

Oh joy, now Im going in circles. Its still trying to download "patch.xml" and giving me the error again!

Click "OK"

HA HA! It just did it to me again. This is like a broken record...

Click "OK"

Hey neat, now Wowreader is running. Well, that was somewhat painful. Now lets see if I cant get a .db file to create.

Clicking on "Refresh"

"Cache files loaded"

Now Im gonna click "Upload"

CONNECTED! "Sending item list..." "Sending Quests data..." sending create data..." "Sending Lua blah blah....

HOLY CRAP IT WORKED! FINALLY.... but alas I do see "NO Data to upload"

Ok, now Im starting WoW and gonna login...

(30 sec later...) Entering the world now...
Im in the game now. Hey neat I have mail. maybe my auctions sold.
Nifty, made 4gold in email :)
Ok, Im back in the Inn and camping out.
Camped out.

Clicked "Refresh" in Wowreader.
Nice, says "Upload completed"

Clicking "Upload" now.

Upload completed!

WOW IT WORKED.

Im amazed.

Anyways Master programmers at Allakhazam please fix this product or your network or your server cause ya know.. Im paying and stuff. These frustrations are simply no fun. I like your website and have used it for years and have been paying for some few years now. So please dont make me go to another site like Thottbot or something.

THANK YOU!

Sup, I'm having some troubles using WoWreader. Everytime I try to upload it keeps saying invalid password. It seems to be changing it after I hit save or upload. I've reinstalled and retyped my password 10 times. Keeps saying the same thing. Any help?

Edit: Well I redid my forum password and it seems to be working now.

Questions about the WoWreader, if you have the time...

There is a discussion in the Official UI forums about the possibilty of various mods causing a possibly slowdown of the game.
Thread is here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-interface-customization&t=41410&s=new&tmp=1#new

What does the wowreader UI part do? not the exe, but the \wr\ directory. Does it store any more info in the savedvariables.lua file than just character info? What about Vendor sell price? auction sell price?
If not the sell price:
When doing the upload to Alla, does it upload vendor sell prices? and if so, where does it get this info from? the WDB files?

My path of thought basicly is going like this.
Numerous mods write data to the savedvariables.lua file, such as vendor sellprice or auction sell price. The idea behind the thread I mention is that this process is causing alot of local processes which in turns slows the machine down. I was thinking if this information is already in the .wdb files, why not have the MOD's pull directly from the files already created, rather than write duplicate info.

thank you for your time, great site, and insight to this issue.

Ok, heres a new one for you.

I get this message pretty much every day.

Wowreader wrote:
Connection error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

I always log out the same way in the same places, either at the auction house, bank, or inn located in Ironforge. I always choose the logout option obtained from the menue you get after hitting escape. I don't d/c to log out.

I get this message now around 80% of the time I try to upload with the Wowreader. Once in a while it will work, most of the time it will not.

Also after it says upload complete, if i hit refresh, nothing has actually been uploaded and i get that error again:
Unable to read data from the transport connection.

Hey
I love to use the profiles. I have a few questions though. When linking to the profiles with the javascript you gave us, it looks good in firefox, but it looks really bad in internet explorer. If i visit the profiles from your website, the profiles look fine in IE. I was wondering if you could include what you do on the regular profiles to the javascript you have us.
Also, is the talents area ever going to be selectable via the javascript code?

Thx for answering my questions when you do.

ive found that if i hit "exit game" the wow reader rarly works but if i "log out" it works most of the time. when it doesnt work its a conection failed type thing. other than that ive noticed the INT is wrong for gnomes. not sure when i first noticed it but my INT was off by 5 in the 45 to 48 range and off by 6 at 49. does it not add gnomes natural int bonus?

Deleted profile, removed wowreader.db, logged in, logged out, quit WoW, ran WoWReader, ran successfully, checked hours later, and still nothing. What's up?
#45 Jan 30 2005 at 9:03 PM Rating: Decent
I've got the .db corruption. I've deleted the file and downloaded the current program 2 or 3 times without success.

Alright, first time trying to use it. I downloaded the installer via the link provided, installed, then tried to run it. I get an error message:

"wowreader.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

I've tried uninstalling, re-downloading, and re-installing several times with identical results every time.

Krycis: I see 1 attempted upload from you in the logs, looks like the server was overloaded at the time and you timed out, tho. I'm working on resolving the timeouts, and it should have improved a bit, but there are still some issues I need to take care of.

DarkTyger: You need to make sure you have the latest version of the .NET framework installed, either from Windows Update or here.

What is this file wowreader.db? I can't find it at all. The files that was istalled for me was ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll, lua-5.0.dll, LuaInterface.dll, lualib-5.0.dll, luastdcall-1.1.dll, patch.txt, readme.txt, uninstall.exe and wowreader.exe And a map called uifiles that contains wr.toc wr.lua and wr.xml.

When I run WoWReader nothing happens at all. What is up with this?

Hello from France !

WowReader UI Addon seems to be not compatible with our version on WoW : 1.2.2 (4196)

Any ideas ?

Wowreader performance over time?
Now that I've been running it for a couple of months, it takes longer and longer to load and upload - like several minutes from clicking on the icon to when I first get a screen. My wowreader.db file is over 12M (4x bigger than all the files in the game's WDB directory). It's also taking up 64M of memory when idle and up to 108M of memory when uploading as well. It's also sort of hogging the CPU during uploads - other tasks do not respond properly.
Any suggestions? Should I just uninstall it and start over or should I abandon using it altogther?

WR doesn't work with the new patch like eowynea said.

Under AddOns i get "Version Mismatch" as with all my other AddOns.
Which really sucks =(

Is there a fix to this in the making?

Thanks,
