What am I doing wrong?

When do i run this file? and how the nora do I set it up to my profiles?

kleptoor: Can you post your race and class exactly as they appear in game, plus the english equivilents?

For anyone hanging on the updater bar, can you post the contents of patch.log from the directory you installed wowreader? But first, be sure you dont have a firewall of some sort blocking it's connections, as that tends to be the most common cause of that problem.

I have been trying for a couple weeks to use WoWReader and keep getting the same message, "Unable to read data from the transport connection." I have the login correct, the path for finding WoW.exe correct, and have the current version of WoWReader showing up in the game.
Also, would you please respond to the questions that Tristax posed earlier on this site. An instruction guide for this program would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Neerti

PeonyFFXI: You have an incorrect proxy setting. I think you can access it by opening internet explorer, going to tools menu, select internet options, then the connections tab. Click lan settings and make sure no proxy address is entered.

Whenever I try to restore it so I can upload my files, I get this error.

"An unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will be shut down immediately.

Error creating window handle."

So I click Continue and it still doesn't do anything ... what can I do to fix this?

pixiedragon: I fixed the bug causing the error you were getting. You'll have to re-download the installer and reinstall it.

VashElf: Is there an error.txt file in your wowreader directory? If so, post the contents.

Murtravice: Can you give anymore info? Is that error from the installer or from wowreader?

its the error message from the dotnetfx installer

I don't know if this has been posted (honestly, I don't have time to read thru 10 pages of issues... an updated, detailed summary of common problems would be nice), but your firewall needs to allow TCP port 11225 outbound to ip 216.155.41.198 in order to work.

Well, anyone know anything about the progress of the wow-reader for MAC?
#418 May 12 2005 at 8:14 AM Rating: Decent
Nope, no error.txt ...

EDIT: What's really weird is the fact that it uploads it anyways ... I just checked and indeed my profiles have been updated. Also, when I get that error, I click "Details" and get this ...

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.

Two requests:

1) How about moving this dicussion to a bug tracking system like Bugzilla? Perhaps a project at SourceForge? That way you can prioritize the bugs.

2) WoWReader doesn't seem to work well for playing multiple characters. It will only upload the last one you logged out. Are you going to make this work for all characters so we can upload them all at one time when we're done playing WoW?

Hello, is there any way to get WowReader to start the game in windowed mode? As in with the -windowed command line option.

A great program btw!

I don't know if anyone has informed you yet, but it's noted over at ItemsMatrix description at ui.worldofwar.net that wowreader strips some special characters out of the ItemsMatrix section of SavedVariables.lua and corrupts the item database on upload. Thought you'd like to know.

Thanks, it should be fixed to not cause any problems now in the current version.

Can anyone tell me what it means when I get "Server closed connection" and it hasn't uploaded anything?

Looking for an update on a Mac version of WoWReader. Seems this question gets passed by quite a bit.
