Okay I'm and just going to come out and say that I am a n00b with WoWreader so...Here's the deal. I downloaded it and installed it and what not but I still have no characters showing. Do I have to pay or something for that to happen? If not, what am I doing wrong?

I have 2 characters...or should have 2 characters.
Banehollow NE Druid Level 48 Santas Rejects
and
Donner Gnome Mage Level 25 Santas Rejects

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Oh btw, I didn't really feel like reading all of the posts on this thread because right now I'm in the middle of Physics class ;).

Thanks ahead of time for any help

Thukk: Post the contents of your patch.log from wowreader directory.

I sent the email to you. I tried to reinstall a few times and decided to just go ahead with WoWPM for now as I need something a bit more stable/reliable to keep up for our guild roster. Thanks for looking into it, I may try again or have the guild try again if things seem to start working in the future.

Thanks again.

New version of WowReader is on the updater now. Profiles now include some pvp honor info. I also rewrote a portion of the lua parser; hopefully the majority of the errors people were getting will be gone now. All of the files people emailed me are parsed correctly now, atleast.

Patch log - 4/29/2005 12:49:05 PM
Executable: wowreader.exe
Application Directory: C:\Program Files\WowReader
OS: Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600.0
Runtime: v1.1.4322
Runtime Directory: C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\

DownloadFile: patch.xml (patch)
DownloadFile: Current Proxy Address Setting:
DownloadFile: The underlying connection was closed: The remote name could not be resolved.
finished

I think it might be a problem on my end because I am having an issue with Norton Internet Security. All other applications seem to connect without issue though, including WoW.

I've downloaded this and I'm a bit confused. Does this have to be in my WoW folder or program files? I tried looking for installation instructions either I can't find them or there is none?

Thanks for any help.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to properly use WoW Reader to get my characters on this site. Can anyone give me a clear set of steps on how to do it? Everythign I've found so far is rather vague.

Where is this 'updater'? I keep getting a 'version checked' error, I re-installed WowReader but same error.

Thukk: I'm not sure what it is exactly, but the problem seems to be on your end. Are you able to download patch.xml in a browser ok?
#394 May 04 2005 at 10:34 AM Rating: Decent
is honor info going to be viewable in the search profiles section? ie able to sort by rank, CPs for last week, kills.

rale...

it was an issue on my end. common client was crashing causing Norton IS to crash the display, but would still run in the background. When it would try to download the patch.xml, it would try to create a dialog box to create a rule for the access...and since Norton had crashed out, it would never allow that to come up. Hence it was being blocked by the firewall and timing out.

I've tried numerous times to install WoWReader with no luck. It doesn't show up in the Add-Ons list. There is no WR folder in the Add-Ons folder.

This is the installtion information:

Output folder: C:\Program Files\WowReader
Extract: wowreader.exe
Extract: ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.dll
Extract: readme.txt
Extract: lua-5.0.dll
Extract: LuaInterface.dll
Extract: lualib-5.0.dll
Extract: luastdcall-1.1.dll
Output folder: C:\Program Files\WowReader\uifiles
Extract: Wr.xml
Extract: Wr.lua
Extract: Wr.toc
Create folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Tyler\Start Menu\Programs\WowReader
Create shortcut: C:\Documents and Settings\Tyler\Start Menu\Programs\WowReader\WowReader.lnk
Create shortcut: C:\Documents and Settings\Tyler\Start Menu\Programs\WowReader\Readme.lnk
Create shortcut: C:\Documents and Settings\Tyler\Start Menu\Programs\WowReader\Uninstall.lnk
Created uninstaller: C:\Program Files\WowReader\Uninstall.exe
Completed

Now, shouldn't it have installed something into the Add-Ons folder?

I'm at a loss. It works on my wife's PC just fine. We even tried copying the WR folder from her's to mine, and it still wouldn't work.

Any ideas?? It's a fresh copy of the reader, since I downloaded it 2 separate times tonight.

atomhead: Added that today.

Siglinar: The installer doesn't know where you have WoW installed. You have to run WowReader once and select the location of your WoW installation before it will copy the ui files over. Is it still not working? Make sure you have the correct location specified by selecting Location from the File menu in WowReader. Restart WowReader after setting it, and it should all be copied over for sure.

The "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application." error can be fixed by installing the newest version of .net

I'm getting a "Version check failed. WowReader is disabled pending update. (expected 4364, got 4375)" error. I'm assuming this is due to the stealth patch today. Any ETA on an update?
