Yes, it uses auction house search data, with the idea being that the mass amount of price data found that way, inaccuracies would just be rounded out after a while.

Not sure if you're open to suggestions on this point, but here goes:

I think your method will introduce systematic bias into the prices. The actual sale price will by definition be less than (or occasionally equal to) the buyout. You system only tracks what people are advertising, not what people are actually buying.

I think that WOWEcon's method is superior, and will actually save you (a lot!) on data collection. You currently collect 100s of pages of AH data per person, and obviously collect duplicate info--one item can be collected by multiple people on the same server. On the other hand, if you just collect the actual sale price at the moment the money hits the seller's mailbox, you get exactly one data point per sale, and it only includes the actual price the item sold for. This is utterly precise, and requires far less data collected and stored.

The upload server was down temporarily for maintenance, its back up now.

Version on the site is not sync'ed with the version on the patcher... The patcher doesn't work for me on Windows 98 (it keeps trying to overwrite the .exe while it's running) so the only way I can update is via the site :(

It's updated now, but could you post your patch.log? I'm still trying to track down the cause of the problem some people are having with the patcher.

Not to add another message that may have been repeated but:

Is there a chance WoWReader will read Honor points in the future? ^_^

Edit: Btw, my WowReader works perfectly. Can't upload sometimes at night, but that's not a big deal. I'm not seeing any of the errors I'm reading here hehe. Just wondering about updated to the program that would track Honor. ^_^

It's updated now, but could you post your patch.log?

Here is a step-by-step of what happens when it tries to update wowreader.exe through the patcher (patch.log will follow):

1. I run wowreader
2. It downloads patch.xml, then wowreader.exe
3. The patcher closes and then reopens... says it downloads patch.xml then wowreader.exe
4. I get the following error message:
"Error deleting <wowreader directory>\_wowreader.exe: Access to the path "<wowreader directory>\_wowreader.exe" is denied.
5. I close the popup (twice) and the patch window is gone, but when I ctrl-alt-del it shows that "_wowreader.exe" is currently running.

Note that I run it on two computers, one running Windows 98 and one running Windows XP, this problem only occurs on the Windows 98 machine.

10 pages of problems, and all we get is theyre too busy to work on it. Give it up people. Stop posting, WOWREADER DOES NOT WORK. We know it they know it.

Let em fix it.

Actually WoW reader is working fine for almost everyone, as can be shown by the fact that in 4 months they have only had 7 pages of posts about it, probably around half of which were people having problems. Compare that to the 10's of thousands of people who have profiles working you can see it is successful.

Now if only they would make a mac version....

Mac, Mac, Mac, Mac. I have had a premium account here for a while (over a year) and a premium guild account over at GuildPortal.com. Now that they are linking data and using the WoWReader, it'd be great to get a version for OS X.

All I can say is Mac bump!

Just to pass along what might be a little helpful hint.

I couldn't get wowreader to update for a long while. I kept redownloading it and other stuff. Well it turned out it wasn't turned on in my UI Addons window. So if it hasn't been updating for you, make sure you have it turned on in the game. ;)

I want a Mac version also and if I had a place to download the idividual files I would help you with getting it to work.

PinkSky: Can you email a copy of your SavedVariables.lua from '\World of Warcraft\Account\<youraccount>\' to rale@allakhazam.com? The lua parser is having trouble with yours for some reason, so I'd need to see it to figure out why.

If you dont mind losing your ui settings, you can delete that file and let wow recreate it - that should take care of the error.

ack, i am having a problem getting this to work. i ran the setup.exe and ran wow reader, but what now? where is the ui addon?

Whenever I attempt to run the wowreader program to update/upload profile it just gets stuck in a neverending patch loop. It downloads the .exe, restarts, downloads the .exe again etc.

Mac bump... I have a 60 Druid and am starting to level up other characters... I use this site a lot and would love to have my info be able to be included here... as well as be able to keep a WoWreader profile. You guys said this was being worked on back in January... how's it going?

Just took another shot at fixing the updater on Win98. If this update completes ok for anyone who was having a problem with it before, please post so I know for sure if it worked.
