WowReader status and help threadFollow

#227 Mar 18 2005 at 5:00 PM Rating: Decent
Can't get WowReader to run at all. I get the same thing Neronix mentioned earlier in the thread: it tries to update itself, gets as far as 'Patch.xml downloaded' and stalls, and patch.log shows that it downloaded some webpage from my ISP instead. I'm not using a proxy of any kind so I don't understand the response that was given. Is there any way to stop it from doing this?

Try deleting your SavedVariables.lua (this worked for me)

When I start up WoW Reader I get the following error:

Error during SavedVariables search using 'E:\Large Games\World Of Warcraft\WTF\Account\': Could not find a part of the path "E:\Large Games\World Of Warcraft\WTF\Account\"

Could anyone help me?

I have noticed that if you choose the Exit Game option from the main menu, your profile will not update properly. Instead, you must choose the Logout option, then back out from the character select screen. After I started doing this, all my profiles are updating correctly. Hope this helps.

Seems the new patch is running a loop and trying to rename the open file which the system won't let heppen.

Just 1 question... Does wowreader send in the data from my kills/loots? Or where do you get them? Because I looted a blue from 1 creature that only had 1 blue looted before in here, and I use wowreader every time I logout, but still, my looting does not show up.

Im having the same problem as Shawnf. New patch just keeps looping and says its trying to rename wowreader.exe but was invalid.

"Connection error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"

Is this because the patch is hosed up and not working?

Thx...

Is there any work going on to fixing the issue I'm having (By replacing the strange IE API (I say "Strange" because I can use IE and other programs using the API without the same problems) with something better or whatever you may be doing)? I'm fed up of not being able to contribute :P

If you're having trouble patching, please try downloading and running the installer again, as it will update you to the latest version.

Neronix: if you still get the error on patch.xml after installing from the updater again, check the log file again, and it should show what address its seeing for proxy configuration now. Let me know if it turns out to be blank or set to something. I'm not using any strange api's, just the standard web download interface.

Now I realise how stupid I am. I somehow had proxy server for LAN enabled. Disabled it and now works. Thanks for the help, but sorry to have wasted so much of your time.

Hello i know this is my 1st post, but i get some error also,

Error reading realmlist: Index and lenght must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length.

that's all i get.

I have tried downloading and reinstalling multiple times, and am still having the same problem as Neronix. I do not have a proxy server enabled. The log file does not have a URL in it anywhere.

I'm getting the following two errors:

Unable to Read data from the transport connection.

Connection error: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Usually sends over all information that I have acquired but when it arrives to the .lua files is whent it sends the error.

Since patching to the new version, whenever I loot a corpse, I get an addon error (I don't have the exact error, but it's a script error). This occurs whenever the loot window pops up.
#248 Mar 23 2005 at 12:00 AM Rating: Decent
I get an error msg when looting as well. I have disabled the AddOn for the time being.
#249 Mar 23 2005 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
Yep, I also get the error when trying to loot a corpse. I'm still able to loot but I also have to click to get rid of the error dialog box. In the error box it ends with Wr.lua or is it Wr.ula?
#250 Mar 23 2005 at 2:32 AM Rating: Decent
Exact error message is:
[string "Interface\AddOns\Wr\Wr.lua"]:417:attempt to call global 'UnitFacing' (a nil value)

Hope that helps.
