Hi everyone. I'm still low level (26) and dont' have much experience with pvp. But the few time I have tried, i get irked by the stealthers. My questions:

How many ways are there to detect stealth/invis?

When you know someone is stealthed/invisible around a place, what ability/spell/potion/item can reveal them?

When you are fighting someone, how many ability/spells/etc are there to prevent them from going stealth/invis?

I know a few answers. Hunters and Warlocks get detect invis spells. A lot of spells listed on this site prevents people from going stealth. But can anyone confirm that any dot (like shaman's flame shock) prevents going to stealth? How about Eye of Kilrogg or Far Sight, do those see invisible ppl? And if an AE hit an invis'ed character, does he come out of invis?

Thanks in advance. I have a shaman and a mage btw.

I can tell you from experience that rogue's stealth is cancel by ANY damage. If you stick a DoT spell, they won't be able to remain in stealth. Also, AoE spells can pull rogues out of stealth too (a mage with Frost Nova got me >.< ). And, humans have a racial trait that you have to activate that will increase their stealth perception for 20 sec. The cooldown is like 2 min, so it really doesn't help much.

Will detect lesser invisibility improve my ability to detect hidden rogues, or is that spell only effective against invisibility spells or potions?

Detect (Lesser) Invisibility should help you catch stealthed PCs.

I'm pretty bad at PvP and haven't done it in a while--unless you consider getting killed by someone 15 levels over you PvP--but Shamans have a couple things that should come in handy. Earthbind Totem reportedly breaks stealth. The Flame Shock DOT prevents Vanish. Fire Nova and Magma Totem are AoE so they'll nail stealthed attackers but of course their range isn't all that. And in my experience, Searing Totem sees through and attacks stealthed PCs.

Hunter = Hunters Mark, Flare
Warlock = Detect Invisability

What I've usually done is Magma Totem myself.

No, the range isn't awesome, but just stay on top of it, he'll have no chance but to get bapped by it if he wants to attack you.

It's also a nice tool to detect people who do 'feign death'.

As a shaman, just drop an earthbind totem. Really cheap mana wise, and it uncloacks stealthers.
