1) I'd like to be able to search a single class across all servers. Right now it won't let me (I get a 'server down' error)

But more important than that

2) I'd like to be able to create my own character to play around with equipment choices. These non-Wowreader verified accounts would be optionally searchable, but it would allow me to see what gear I want, the costs of losing a certain item, what my HP / Mana would be if I totally regeared, etc. This would be similar to Magelo / the EQ section of Allakhazam, where I can just manually enter in a new character. This is needed and as far as I can tell, nobody is providing this service.

Oddly, I've been working on just that :)

Meanwhile, I've upgraded the display on items found by disenchanting to show where they're found.

Yay! I'm glad to know this thread still gets read (and responded to!).

This is another low priority one (compared to the gear substitution ability that everquest.allakhazam.com has), but why can't I see drops by zone?

edit:

/em scampers back.

Since you're here...advanced search should be able to select a zone to search. There should also be a 'search by class' option. This might be harder to implement than in EQ, but perhaps not. It's well-defined who can equip what items. Would look something like SELECT armour FROM item_list WHERE itemlist.useonly <> NOT clas_search. That might be wrong, I suck at relational databases. But basically, you want to return items that aren't useable only by a class that is not the class I'm searching for. If I only searh for WHERE itemlist.useonly = class_search, then I only return class-specific items, not all items my class can use. Anyway, I think you get the idea regardless of how well *I* happen to implement it ;) So yeah...it should return just cloth items if I search for items useable by, say, a priest. But it should return cloth, leather, and if 40, chain for a shaman.

regarding the item upgrader:

For classes that get an armor class upgrade such as hunter..the upgrader doesn't differentiate armor type based on level. For example, a level 45 hunter might not have ll items upgraded to mail in game, and when he hits the item upgrader it will show all possible leather upgrades for that slot. Furthermore..there isn't an option to change the type of armor upgrade, renedering the feature useless unless the character has fully upgraded all slots.

Perhaps make the script a bit smarter determining possible upgrades including armor types as well as items with stat increases...

They do. With regards to your level 60 Rogue, I see that the profile shows +attack from Gear of +334. When I go through your profile by hand, I see 24 + 46 + 34 + 32 + 44 + 48 + 56 + 30 + 20 to attack. This includes the shoulder slot.

Is there some element of +attack from your shoulder that's not being recorded or shown that I'm not aware of?

The above poster is correct concerning the forum search.

Would you be so kind as to send me a screenshot of your shoulders? You're right that the atk from the enchantment isn't being shown.

email to illia @ allakhazam.com,

Thanks

when using the item upgrader:
- way of ex- or including only a certain type of armor (like plate)
general:
- since i am having a hard time comparaing e.g. my belt with, say the freethinker's belt, i'd like for all the attributes a weapon oder piece of armor has on it to be sorted in the same order. that could be alphabetically, or any other order u can imagine, only the consistency throughout all items would be important.

How about an option to see what monster has the highest % chance to drop an item in an items details page?

This is a very good site, and my main "portal" to WoW information.

However, it is one-upped by a couple features on other sites.

The biggest thing I would REALLY like to see this site have is an item-info on mouse-over. When you move your mouse over an icon (ie item or spell) it should have a little picture popup (auto generated of course, since storing that many icons is ridiculous and using a generator is much more dynamic). This is on www.wowguru.com, I believe. This would make it almost perfectly easy to browse items, much more so than the way it is now.

Another thing that would be nice, that I still haven't found on ANY WoW site, is a cached version. You should be able to download Allakhazam's database. Why not? You can just view all the information here. It would be nice to use because I only have one computer at home hooked up to the internet and if I could download the database I could run Allakhazam on my other computer while playing WoW. I'm also sure I'm not the only person in this kind of a situation ;).

Anyway, other than that, this is a great website.

There are a few other 'tweaks' that are rather small changes. On a spell screen for item production (tailoring, blacksmithing, etc.), there should be a link to the recipe, plans, etc. I've seen a lot of people complaining about that.

The idea of ordering items/armor by level by DEFAULT is also good, as you can always resort the list if you need them by name, and its more likely that you need to know the lvl req over the name when browsing.

Also, the second ordering figure in items/armor should be DPS/AL. This means if two or more items have the same lvl req, they are ordered from highest dps/armor to lowest.

There are also a few duplications from updates. These should be removed if possible. You might set up a system to notify you of any duplicates so you can check and see if they are repetitions or not (there are a few quests with the same name...)

Theres an ad, Verison I think, that has a cellphone hanging down into the rest of the page. I understand your need for ads for money, but PLEASE remove this ad. It is an extreme nusance and doesn't go away. Even if I wait for a minute for it to fold up again, I can't click on any of the links where it was, forcing me to reload the page whenever this happens.

Is there a way to add to the tradeskill tables so they not only list when the spell (production spell) is available but also when it turns yellow, green, and grey? This would be helpful.

You could also touch-up the maps automatically. If theres a radically different postion (only one, or maybe two) completely different than the main cluster, is it possible to strip that position? It might be helpful.

That's a lot, but its all part of making this website better than any other. Keep up the good work.

EDIT: By the item/over thing, I meant on the tailoring/blacksmithing/leatherworking/etc pages.

EDIT: I forgot. Let there be a way to order drop rates by drop rate. Makes it easier when looking for best place to get things like wool.

The map on this website isnt so "interactive" as I thought it would be. You guys could really improve on it in a variety of ways. Go to www.kaldorei.com/worldmap and take a look at it. Their map contains the whole shabang! It has all the main cities including flightpaths between them, notification of Horde, Alliance, or Contested territory, location of gold, silver, and bronze pieces, and maps of the individual locations, ie. The Undercity, Stormwind, the Barrens, etc...

The 'interactive' maps on this website are not meant for broswing as much as usability. They are meant to find foes, NPC's, etc. BY LOOKUP. It is 'interactive' because it does not cache the maps as much as produces them when requested. You plug in the foe/NPC/etc. for a map of where their locations are. This is much more useful to advanced players looking for something, especially loot.

EDIT: Oh, and since I don't know where to post this...

The profile search is broken. It won't go from page to page. I got it to work but only by manually guessing some variables in the address bar.

To go to page n, simply add at the end of your address bar:

&page=n

It worked for me. Also, don't put multiple declarations of page, just set it to something else.

EDIT: Only a problem when the class is undeclared because the link uses a null class but the search (.html file) uses an actual string. Its a simple mismatch, should be very easy to solve.

I'm RELATIVELY new to WoW (only have 2 characters of levels 20 and 26) and am trying to learn more. There are a LOT of good tips and good info here on this site, but there is also a lot of jargon used that I don't understand yet. (Examples: "PvE", "AGI", "Sta", etc.) I would LOVE a page of the common abbreviations and WoW lingo and definitions of what they mean. That would help me out immensely.

For professions I reckon it shoul tell you when an item stops giving you skill levels, for example say you make some Linen Cloth at level 10 and you get to level 60 and you arn't getting anymore levels. Thats what I would like to see, so I know what items would be good to make.

I will back the downloadable database, make it all WoW like so it looks like your in WoW looking at all the stuff or maybe even create a addon or something, not too sure.

Aside from creating a bookmark for this for use every time a patch comes out, I still can't find an easy way to locate the allakhazam patch download page. Would you please put a link on the left with everything else? If there is one now, one that's a bit easier to identify?

As a premium member I have used this sites downloads to get the latest patches. Often times it's because i formatted my drive (yes I have done this a few times in the past year) and all my bookmarks get wiped..

I thought of some good ideas while I was cruising around the site..

It would be good if there was a Talent Builder on this site because I use no other except for Talent Building.

Also under the talents I reckon it would be good for peoplt to be able to comment with there own Talent Builds for people to use or look at. Because there are people out there with real good Farming Builds, PvP Builds and all other types that they could post other then the Mage Forums, and then the Talent Catergory down the bottom on the left would get more attention and actually be used.

Just my ideads.

I think it would be very useful if we could have a "Print version" of a search we do in the site.

As of now, if I want to print a search, the whole page prints including the Allakhazam's header and sidebars since the page is not displayed in frames.

For example, I wanted to print a list of all the enchant formulas available and who sold or dropped them so that when I get back home I could check what I have and look for the ones I'm missing. However, this is eight pages long and it prints kind of weird.
