Stats: What are their Benefits?Follow

#1 Nov 22 2004 at 9:02 AM Rating: Default
I have always had this major question digging itself deeping into the back of my brain. What good is Stamina? What good is Strength? You get where I'm going with this? Does the stat "Increase the chance of X"? or does it "Enhance the potency of Y"? I must know!!! And please...no guessing, I want answers that are accurate; please, no "I think it..." or "Someone told me...." or "I'm not sure, but..." or "Just do this in game..." I MUST HAVE CONFIDENT ANSWERS! :D Danke

EDIT: Had a couple of posts that completely avoided my question, so I'm going to clarify. Since the game is not available ATM, I would like to know Stat benefits. I know I can hover my little metal glove over my stat and check the bonus information....but I lack the little metal glove ATM, so how do you expect me to hover outside of looking over someone's shoulder? I dunno, guess my question is avoidable if you don't want to give me a straight answer. (see above)

I definitely DON'T know the precise answer, but I definitely DO know that the game lists the %'s in game. If you put your mouse over the dodge icon, a window will come up saying that your dodge chance is X%. You can experiment with it yourself to see first hand exactly what stats do. If putting on a 4 agility item gives you an additional 1% dodge chance, then there you go.

I'll make it easier on everyone. When you get the game, make a character and go to your char screen...point your mouse at the stats and it tells you what they do. ;)

Oh well I guess I'll just watch your thread :D

That post doesn't really answer the question.

The answer is that it varies by character class. For paladins and warriors, strength affects damage and agility affects both defense and chance for a critical hit. For all characters (afaik), stamina determines the amount of hit points and intellect determines the amount of available mana. Spirit determines the rate of hp and mana regeneration.

Heres what the guidebook says:

ATTRIBUTES
The basic building blocks for your character are your attributes. They determine your physical and mental aptitude.

The five attributes that define your character are listed below. They are primary attributes that influence secondary characteristics.

STRENGTH: Strength determines the physical power of your character. A high strength improves your attack power. Strength is also a determining factor in how much damage you block if you use a shield. Rogues and hunters only use a partial value of strength to determine there power.

AGILITY: Agility improves your armor rating, your chance to dodge an attack, adn your hcnace to score a critical ht with melee or ranged attack, thus dealing increased damage. Rogues and hunters also use agility, in combination with strength, to determine there attack power.

STAMINA: Stamina affects your hit points, no matter what class you play. However, characters designed to absorb damage, such as warriors and paladins, gain more benefit from stamina than classes who have other capabilities, such as rogues and druids, who turn gain more benefit than pure spellcasters, such as mages.

INTELLIGENCE: Intelligence improves your mana reserves. Intelligence has no bearing on non-spellcasting classes.

SPIRIT: Spirit determines the regeneration rate for your health and mana. A high spirit results in a much faster regeneration, while a low spirit gives you reduced regeneration.
